From memory the wing pack weighed about 55kg. He doesn't tend to use it anymore as its left two deep scars on his back. I'm not sure how the other members managed to be that close though because we would be cooking off stage. I was fortunate enough to be on the local crew for the UK part of their tour some 15 years back.

Hi Guys, German here. The key to the meaning of the lyrics is the first line. "Who was good on earth during his lifetime". Then follows a description of being an angel. The ego doesn't want to become an angel because being an angel sucks so much. From this he concludes that he can't be a good person because otherwise he would risk becoming an angel.

Hi guys, the translation is quite accurate and your interpretation is interesting, too. But I got another one for you, more metaphoric: the angels in the song standing for idols of our time, like artists, actors, music stars etc. who live in their own world and have been disconnected from the "normal" life and people, like their fans. That's why they feel alone, everybody only sees the star, but not the human being behind. Since this is a quite early song of Rammstein, they essentially saying they don't want to become this kind of stars.

I recently saw Rammstein in concert and it was amazing!! A lot of props and Pyro. Definitely worth seeing at least once. Couldn't understand a word he was saying but the atmosphere and show are so worth it plus the music is so good.

Till turned 60 this year. His voice is unmistakable. Check out some of his side projects! Richard Krupse (guitarist) had a band named Emmigrate. They did a fantastic reimagine of Always on my Mind by Willie Nelson. Till features heavily. Also did a solo project song Ich Hasse kinder that has a short film associated with song. Review that if you dare!

Irish Folk: Rocky road to dublin, High Kings (the old old live version seems to be the best) Nordic experimental/traditional: Lifa,Heilung (I don't remember the song directly but they use a literal shield wall as an instrument) Metal plus Classical Ynwie Malmsteen If you want to hear just a massive vocal range listen to King Diamond. The fifth unofficial god of metal. Nightwish has two great songs "I want an angel" this really gives the singing contrast. and the song "while your lips are still red" really shows off Marco's singing If you want to hear what Elvis would sound like in a metal band then listen to Mother, Danzig. One of the best frontmen in rock was from Stone Temple Pilots. I would pick from the core album.

Y’all’s theory on the lyrics are interesting! The way I always took it was with more of a historical/literal interpretation: He just really doesn’t want to be an angel. Angels are often depicted as these beautiful winged beings but that’s only in modern western culture. For most of history angels were also seen as these terrifying beings of power and wrath. Separated from humanity, they’re something else entirely. Harbingers of death, destroyers of civilizations, monsters. Monsters who’s sole purpose is being the hands of god. No hopes, no dreams, no identity…just tools of a terrible trade, waiting to be called down from the stars. I always saw it as a critique of religion. If you’re a good person in the eyes of the church, and the word of god is reality, you will become an Angel…what a horrific end to have. All that being said, I can’t wait for y’all to actually dip into Rammstein’s music video catalogue!!! It’s so good!!! Angst, Zeit, Deutschland, Mein Herz Brennt (both versions are 🔥), Keine Lust, Sonne, Zick Zack, Adieu…the list goes on and on lol. Cheers!

Please always read the translation, and yes it was good. Its so important, all lyrics come from Till Lindemann, he has so enomous great words for all music. So very different one - every feeling you can find in his lyric in their songs. Its worth to know the text. I have seen my first concerts with them in July in Vienna , never to forget this evenings , the best I ever see in my 60 Years of live with music!

8:30 the meaning very much references the first line: "who's good on earth, will become an angel" as in a religious/moralist (i.e. the establishment) perspective that you have to be pious and modest to be a "good" person. Yet the singer is representing the archetype of a rockstar, so he stands for "sex drugs and rock'n roll". This leads him to ironically talking bad about being an angel: "look, being an angel sucks, they are afraid and alone, it's no fun, this is why I *must* "misbehave" to avoid becoming one, god knows, that I just don't want to become an angel."

if you like the sound of Rammstein check out the cult band/artists Laibach ... it's Slovene (Yugoslavian) band that started performing in 80's .. a dissident group that started their creative journey under a totalitarian communist regime. The lyrics are good. Nothing translates exactly, as English has a word for everything, while other languages are a bit more limited, and each word has more nuances and meanings. German and French, are the biggest contributors to English (legal double-speak, is the prime example), so translations from those two languages into English are easier than from other languages. And at the end, he descends...Wings still aflame.

Basically ...without saying too much ...the video shows an enviroment where the people involved definitively do not become Angels after death. And those people are there willingly and are enjoying the scene, so they do not want to become an Angel because those are living a certain lifestyle which simply does not lead to heaven.
