The legendary Linda does a great job on this Buddy Holly original. Holly was a transcendent figure in early rock and roll. Died in a plane crash at an unimaginably young age. The Beatles name comes from a nod to Holly's group The Crickets. "American Pie" by Don Mclean is a momenti mori to his death, "The Day the Music Died." Please react to Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away." Buddy played this Bo Diddley influenced song to an all black audience at the famous Apollo Theater in Harlem. More so even than Elvis, he melded black music, rockabilly, and country swing into a potent, energetic mix.

Opera Linda ("Poor Wandering One" from Gilbert & Sullivan's "Pirates of Penzance" operetta) and Big Band Linda ("What's New" with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra). There may be other Linda's, but this is a good sampling. Willie Nelson said something to the effect that anyone who doesn't love Linda hasn't seen her perform.

Paul McCartney wrote a couple of songs for them. Helps when your sister is dating a Beatle. They had several hits. He became her producer.
