I'm fortunate to own a 1991 A model since new. Like yours, a great sound and superb workmanship.

I think the description needs to change. It says it's an F style mandolin when the title says it's an A style mandolin,

Interesting thoughts on A vs. F-style mandolin. For some reason A-style mandolins are generally perceived as inferior to Fs. This is largely due to the fact that Bill Monroe--the proverbial father of bluegrass--played a Gibson F5. Big whoop. Therefore any self-respecting mandolin player must play an F? What? An F-style is an A-style with three pieces of solid wood stuck on it and a fancier headstock and usually at least 50-100% more expensive than a similar quality A-style. F-styles sound a bit different: less sustain, ring, and depth than an A-style. They have a slightly "darker" and more percussive sound and are thus used in bluegrass ensembles as the "snare drum". A-styles have a "prettier" sound: sweeter and more dimensional. So, if you're not primarily playing in a bluegrass group why the H would you pay the high premium for a good F-style? Because they look cool? We're talking $4-5K to get beyond an entry-level US made F-style and $10-15K to get what the pro bluegrass players use. F-styles don't sound as good as an A for playing a more melodic styles. Search for "Chris Thile Bach" here on youtube. Sure he is super talented, but his $100K+ mandolin really doesn't sound that great for this style of music. It sounds shallow and a bit muffled to my ear. I think he could get a much fuller sound out of a good A-style. Listen to this, for example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZqnkJSdm6mph6M, a $2,800 Weber Beartooth. A-style mandolinists unite! Post more youtube videos! Let's show those F players how good our instruments sound!

My thoughts more or less exactly. I have always thought of an A as a piano with the lid up and an F as a piano with the lid down, which makes an F a very costly lid. I have both an A and an F, but I much prefer the A.
