I think an important point that was missed with portable gaming is that you have MANY people that have invested in their game library through steam. I bought a steam deck and decided to buy another for my family because it has served us well! For those individuals that moved from console gaming to the computer and miss that console experience without the price tag of reinvesting for the exact games they own I think is a huge driving factor that sold so many to the steam deck.

In defense of jackson: When at home, I take off my pants to use the bathroom because they're annoying. I also tend to take my shirt off purely as a habit from being a kid. I was always told to keep my shirt up to keep it out of the way and not get anything on it, I got tired of homding it up so I started either just taking it off or one-arming it. Aside from that, my bathroom isn't air conditioned and I live in the most humid place in the continental us and it's always hot af so it helps. It's also just more comfy.

Jackson is totally right. These debates are a decades old thing and it’s just a reformatting of this cultural clash of tropes. We just ignore or put to the sidelines that gender roles are constantly being challenged and pressured and people are constantly agitated. I could write an essay about it, but a prime example are tomboys. In the 80s or 90s, they finally became fairly acceptable, but before the 60s, women with short hair who didn’t wear skirts were almost shunned and barred from most places. Now a bunch of losers are talking about how we’ve gone too far and need to go back to that. But they’re just carrying a generational insecurity of a dying power structure. Rather than rationally dissect the distinct contemporary issues people face in their demographics, they want to blame every problem on not forcing weird gender roles, purposes, and functions on people like they are these programmed robots who serve this grand system-rather than their own self interest. We can discuss the shortcomings and insufficiencies of our social organization without taking away people’s agency and ability to define their own meaning. Because that’s what it all is. There is no absolute “truth” that encompasses and serves all humanity or all life. If we simply lived to procreate and pass down genes, why would we create so much in this world to represent who we are? Because it’s not just about survival, it’s about living, and no one gets to tell you how you live. Our meaning is our reason, and that is self-exclusive. No one can tell you what your reason is.

The console/pc argument was so infuriating to listen to. It's kinda crazy that none of them were able to answer the question of "why can't they just sell beefy pcs for 500 bucks." They literally lose money on the sale of each console and depend on the sale of software to subsizide the cost.

Its a biohazard after the first flush. That's like a nightmare! How could you lean back into piss and shit mist condensation and then lay in bed, or sit on your couch or in your car I'm having a mini panic attack just worrying that there are real life maniacs out there doing that. Every waiting room, uber, movie theater just everywhere 😰 Or even worse, they're naked and put a shirt on after 😱 Just trapping that shit in there 🤮

Just wanna clarify that the whole "xbox is a pc" idea won't work like at all because the xbox hardware is only able to run games at 60 or 120 fps because it is realy, REALLY optimized. LIke to the point where the hardware in an xbox would probably struggle to run csgo at 60 fps. So it's a good idea in theory but really wouldn't work.

I did edibles with a coworker who smokes a lot before closing at work once. Worst experience of my life but it makes for a good story. Basically I learned what the attention span of a goldfish was, I couldn't focus for more than 10 seconds on anything (even the thought of thinking about focusing). Everything I saw was like it was in "theater mode" and I was sitting watching myself. Because I couldn't focus on making drinks (Starbucks) my coworker sent me to the back she'd take care of everything and honestly she was a godsend. It was like time was repeating, or tripled in length. I thought my 10 minute break was over within what was probably only 1-2 minutes, my anxiety was out of control, I was super stressed and panicking so I just drank water and tried to force vomit to clean my system. Sometimes if I'm having a bad day I think back to that knowing it could be worse.

My buddy unironically dropped his naked shitting habits by accident years into having known him, by saying something to the effect of "I was putting my shirt back on when I realized the toilet was overflowing" and man did that open my eyes, I was just as dumbfounded as the rest of the boys

7:48 It’s clear to me that anyone who has talked by this point knows nothing about history, all of this stuff is thousands of years old and used to be a lot worse, but writing was the recording device. Women got the write to vote in the United States in like 1919 or something like that.

The big thing the Steam Deck has going for it is that i already have 200 steam games from over the years, so its one singular hardware purchase, then i can pick from my already existing library instead of having to build a collection up over time.

Going forward i think it makes a lot more sense for consoles to focus on portability, because any future generations are going to start approaching the point that you may as well just buy a PC anyway. They need to start working on a reason for people to buy any console over a PC, the same as Xbox currently need to find a reason for people to buy their console at all. Nintendo is practically the only company with a real USP left to it now.

Their whole argument is “why do you have a house when a cave serves the same function?”
