If I had to guess, Jackson’s sense of enjoyment in completing said games is comparable to body building, or excelling at a 9-5 job, you hate the process but gain immense satisfaction from the result. On the contrary I find that “mindless fun” and public gratification are far worse than what Jackson’s experiencing due to there hallow nature, you’re not happy or having fun at the end of the day just distracting yourself or in the case of the latter attempting to appeal to your peers who inevitably won’t care shortly after accomplishing said task. As Jackson said not all tasks need to be broadcast or monitored. The beginning of this episode is admittedly grueling but with that said if you’re going to torture yourself learning a language or exercise would be a much more beneficial task to complete thus you should agree to disagree as Jackson recognized

Except he has fun speedrunning. That's the difference. It's a FUN challenge that Charlie likes doing and is fairly passionate about. Even with bad games, he specifies fun-bad games and will stop playing games that are just boring unless he plans to do a review. Not to mention, he has fun talking with his chat while playing these games. Jackson, however, doesn't like Assassins Creed. He doesn't like playing it and finds it boring, as he said himself. The only reason he plays them is for the sake of saying he 100% completed them. Which is difficult to understand because he can 100% a good game and have the same result just with a much more satisfying journey to accompany it. The only way it would make sense for him to suffer through a game he hates and has no fun playing (which he said himself) was if it was for some kind of content or review. Since people like to see others suffering and reacting through bad games and at least at that point, he could have fun talking to his chat or playing up his frustrations to an audience.

I 100% agree with Jackson on this one I can't believe I'm disagreeing with charlie here for the first time but their takes are bad as someone who had played a bad game and 100% accomplished it is so much more accomplishing than suppose to playing a game that you enjoy and 100% the achievements for example, playing assassin creed is like getting out of prison because of how bad it is and grinding to get your way out of there the satisfaction is not the game but the grind to finish it and get out of there I don't know if you've ever experienced that but that is what is like with me as to playing a good game that you enjoy you won't get as much satisfaction when you finish it as supposed to play a bad game because you already enjoyed it, you might not even realize that you100% the game because you didn't even grind to get out of the game and finish it and why do you always have to have progressed in the game like an online game then why even have singleplayer games, to begin with and you don't have to always accomplish anything like practicing piano wtf is that take you wanted to play video game not fuckin play piano why did it go there you don't always have to entertain anyone or get a new skill on what you grind to a lot of hours too I think charlie's ego became too high when he became famous idk he became like this guy that " oh look at me I'm a much better man than you I did this shit but better" so is he's friends just stomping on Jackson's takes I feel so bad for him he just wanted to share something he accomplished just look at his face where they just laughed at him that is what he wants to respect that opinion all im saying is you dont have to be productive on your time on absolutelty everything sometimes you just want to escape on some bad shit and play games of course you can always go back to why not play a good game but ive said my case

What a weird episode, Jackson was the only one with reason for once. The other boys don't get it, it's for him, his own enjoyment It's not for them to agree or be happy for him. The point was Jackson's own satisfaction. That within itself is not a waste of time. It's like another guy said, it's like working out. Alot of people don't enjoy working out but when you go home after a work out, you never feel regret and feel accomplished that you set a goal and completed it. It's about over coming your goal and your own limitations to said goal. The goal itself can be mundane like a crappy game, 1 hr of cardio, or spending 100 hours on a another language but completing that goal is the reward
@rayyanstyles39932 жыл бұрын
Well for working out and learning a language the time spent has an extrinsinc value (getting bigger, burning fat, being able to speak to people in a certain language), but jackson has seemingly admitted he does not enjoy the games, so there is no extrinsic or intrinsic value. He doesnt gain any skills from playing these relatively easy games, or any new insights since he doesnt seem to care about the stories very much. And the act of playing it in of itself isnt enjoyable either. I think what makes the most sense is jackson actually does enjoy playing the games, more than he claims, and he doesnt want to admit it. Ive replayed assassin’s creed unity and 100%ed it twice, when i know im not learning anything or becoming a better “gamer” or something but instrinsically i feel joy running around the open world because the pakrour is instrinsically satisfying, even if it is a waste of time

This has to be the first time in the history of the podcast Jackson was actually right during the 3v1 argument. While i am taking Jackson's side, i dont agree with the other people in the comments who say jackson was doing it for fun or that individuals should be able to have fun however they want. I agree with the concept that individuals can have fun however they want, but the whole point of the argument in the podcast was that Jackson admitted he had no fun doing it, and that was what the other 3 were confused about. Max Elling (another commenter) made a good point that i agree with: "Jackson’s sense of enjoyment in completing said games is comparable to body building, or excelling at a 9-5 job, you hate the process but gain immense satisfaction from the result." The other 3 making the argument that if you're going to do something unfun and tedious you should do something that is also beneficial, while that argument is a good argument, i would say it is also dishonest and hypocritical. All 4 members as far as i can remember have done pointless things that aren't fun for one reason or another, so it's hypocritical to call jackson out for doing it.
@bogdanmocanu58292 жыл бұрын
I dont really think that the comparison is really fitting because through work you gain more money and through exercising you build up a healthy life and better well-being. Jackson's actions do not have an actual impact. Yeah i get the sense of acomplishment that he is experiencing but in actuallity it's nothing to be proud of. And why the fuck do we even know about him 100%ing the game if he said he is doing it for himself. Its very strange and i cant wrap my head around it
@davidsantiago78082 жыл бұрын
@@bogdanmocanu5829 it is strange sure, but it depends on the individuals perspective. He's proud of himself and he got satisfaction from completing it, he doesn't need to explain himself to others. i would compare it to running a 5k. people run 5k all the time, it isnt new or even that challenging to do. but people still get proud over being able to do it even though all it requires is a few weeks of time commitment to jogging. sure i could understand if it was an unhealthy/overweight person that did it, but normal people and even extremely healthy people do it all the time as well. I would say that is similar, it is simply something they find satisfaction in and dont need to brag to others about it.

Jackson is lying. He actually likes Asassins's Creed. No way someone 100% an entire franchise that they "hate"

Hey Jackson, I'm proud of you for 100%ing an AC game

For the record Jackson is awesome for doing that. Also I feel like every time Jackson likes something or says something everyone else shits on it no matter if it's good or not.

the irony in all of this is that Charlie and Andrew i believe had a competition who could 100% the most games in a set time.

Jackson, Ubisoft have managed to make one of the most addictive and souless game ever, Assassin's Creed have consumed me month of my life and I think the reason is the mechanic of discovering the map and the need of completion of each mark in the map, I really can't see question marks in the map or a "6/10" in the list of secondary missions or events lol I have to complete everything, and I'm not the only one suffering from this effect, Ubisoft knows what they are doing with us, they are evil.

It's like working on a puzzle, you don't do it for the money or vanity, but there is a sense of comfort for completing it. Let's not shame anyone for an innocent achievement they accomplished.

Lately ive been resonating more and more with Jackson, what’s wrong with doing something if you enjoy it and it isnt causing any harm to anyone else?

fair point, but counterpoint; should one ignore someone doing the equivalent of poking pins in their penis just for the challenge? (for the sake of argument let's say this particular person does NOT enjoy the pins in the penis.)

Jackson. I personally love Valhalla, and think it to be the best of the little trilogy. I support you entirely
