"You see the world through stupid eyes" has to be the highlight of the episode for me. 😂
@jakedill1304 Жыл бұрын
You know, it's more true than you might think.. most of our vision is made up on the spot by our brain.. you only see a very small portion of it, and the rest is just automatically generated, constantly being refreshed and checked of course as that tiny cone of vision darts around... But eventually the neural pathways fill in, as to what things are and how vision can be competently relied upon to a degree to work.. and it's why you can never find your wallet when it's right in front of you.. amongst other things lol it's it's kind of nuts actually and it's kind of crazy how well it works and how utterly unreliable it can be at the same time.. So if you have stupid eyes, that actually kind of makes sense since your eyes are functionless without the brain essentially to actually generate the image, and I don't mean translate the image I mean actually generate the image. it's one of the reasons that when someone who's had their entire life as a blind person, and if they get a surgery or something that can then bring back some of their or whichever of their vision they don't really know what to do with it because they never developed those neural pathways or whatnot.. and it goes beyond just the vision of course, and not being able to process a useful image.. but also things like social cues, reading faces etc... All of that gets developed early on and once your brain has formed its efficient pathways and kind of disregarded all of the experimentals for what works and what doesn't as you get older.. it's much much harder to actually develop that. And that goes for pretty much all of our senses.. it's one of the reasons why it's very important to try to do what you can at a infancy age if things like hearing loss or vision can be addressed in some capacity.. despite how it might seem cruel or dangerous.. it's just not something you're going to be able to actually do effectively later on... Kind of like you know.. parenting lol... Teach them while they're young so they don't grow up to be redditors.

Even if you live in America you do not have to tip and not tipping doesn't make you a bad person. Yes businesses are allowed to pay below minimum wage with tips but they have to get those tips for that. If you don't make at least minimum wage with tips then your employer is required by law to make up the difference. It's not as if waiters will be forced to live on $5/hr if you don't tip them we have a legal safety net.

@@7scrib Yeah? But why would i screw someone who simply needed a job and lives off tips out of money because i don’t agree with the corporate people who made the choice who have no relation to the waiter. Doesn’t hurt me hardly any to leave 20% but it makes a massive difference for the waiters. Why put down your fellow working man? The business won’t lose money if you don’t tip so they won’t feel any need to change their policy just because you don’t leave 20%, but their waiters won’t be able to afford a living until years of legislation catch up to give them more rights and you’ll be the one crying about bad service when the only people willing to work as a waiter and deal with awful people for minimum wage are equally terrible people.

You seem conservative, why is your solution from this situation to harm the working class little guy at no expense to the employer who you feel is unfairly making their employee reliant on tips. Conservatives are supposed to support the working class at the expense of the elite. The elite aren’t impacted by ur tipping, the employees are. If u wanna impact the elite, write an article and go after their stock.

I couldn't even ride my bike in some cities with my bag because tree were trimmed too low so every tree would hook me or at least my bag so I just had to hop off and walk anywhere they had them. Etc etc. Not to mention any specific health issues that are more common in 'tall' people. Having said that I do think I'd pick my height or at least close-ish to it. It can be useful and I think it outweighs those issues-- plenty of which are negated by just ducking

To be fair Andrews example of tipping is probably one of the best examples I can think of.. People go to those places wanting to support smaller artists in one way or another, but a lot of them might not have the money to afford purchasing a piece, or might not even be interested in purchasing and just show up like its a temporary art gallery... So it does make sense that people would want to tip the artists a smaller amount rather than buy something, and it also helps those Artists receive some support without solely relying on sales. But in most other cases its just a service you've already paid something for, also asking you to pay extra just to help cover business expenses for some store that often turns over millions already. Or a restaurant asking you to subsidize their staffs wages so that they don't have to. The main difference is one is a voluntary tipping culture that helps the individual, the other is a mandatory tipping culture that just helps a business take more money from you and pay less to their employees.

20:05 I've worked at 2 gas stations. The ads are annoying af. It is eerily dystopian having a smoke break at 1am and hearing 12 pumps blaring the advertisement messages. They are on a loop, and technically should all be playing the same thing at the same time, but they get out of sync. You end up with a cascade of "budududhoo Miley Mununez here, did you know a NFT sold for $600,000?" There *IS* usually a way to mute them. Once you start pumping, the *white* buttons around the screen shouldn't have any options. If you press through them, one of them will hopefully mute it.
