I actually read a story recently from a small collection of works assembled by Alfred Hitchcock from various other authors about a man who was deep into method acting. He lost himself in it, became a monster by delving into the role of a conflicted priest who killed a young woman, and during his time in the mental institution he'd been condemned to went spiraling down from that priest character backwards through the various other characters he'd played through his time in theater. Come the end, after the final part was played and all that was left for him to be was himself, there was nothing left. The face of the man that he might have been was no more, in its place a blank canvas of flesh awaiting its next role, screaming impossibly for just a little light. Not related to anything, I just thought it was a neat story and was reminded of it when you mentioned method acting.
