I've been riding a penny for 5 years, I've grown and my shoe is 12. I just ordered a nickel as I want a bigger board for going around town. Also it's more awkward to ride such a tiny board so I'm gunna try a nickel.

i have ridden both boards. i have a nickel, and have borrowed a friends penny board. in my opinion, the nickel is much smoother and easier to do sharper turns. i love it. the penny was fun too, but it was a bit bumpier due to its smaller size and less stable therefore not as easy to make as sharp turns. hope this helps!

Im looking to use this just for cruising and getting around (mostly school even though portability doesn't matter for me) I like the small size and concept of the penny, but Im tempted to get a nickle because is seems easier to grasp and I'd like to go faster. I am 2 years old and my foot size is 14... Listen foot size doesn't really matter the thing is the original is way more portable and the nickel is just easy to ride. But this still doesn't change the fact that the nickel is bigger so you are gonna have a better time placing your foot on the board but still it doesn't really matter

+Emily Tran if you're going through places like airports and bus terminals a penny board is more suitable, as it is easier to carry around and fit in your bag , however if you just want to cruise and have easier control (for beginners) go for the nickel

Yea you can never stop that from happening. The only thing I can of is putting a few layers of duck tape or a piece of grip take but yea.

+Sinead - Piece of grip tape under the kick tail. 1 sheet should last you a long time... (1 sheet not 1 piece) you can even get it the same color as your board to make it less noticeable if you'd like & keep replacing it if its wearing down and starting to scratch your board but doing this will cover scratches anyways...you just want to do it before the board is scratched though so it has a smooth surface to stick to. and don't stop on your tail that much its really not needed :P learn to power slide and stop that way.

If your a beginner go with the nickel. It's more stable and you'll like the bigger deck size. The penny might be a little uncomfortable and harder to get down because it is small and fast.

well to be honest it's personal preference, as if you had larger feet you would look more to a nickel and if your looking for compact and more agile go for the penny. Also one more thing to add is that If you have never skated before and cannot skate go for a nickel and if you can skate and want something just to cruise on and have fun with the difference go for the penny. Bare in mind that the nickel is a tiny bit more expensive compared to the OG penny. Hope this helps :D

Definitely get the nickel. We travel with ours and it's fine, and the bigger deck size will make it easier for you to ride on

Yes, that is normal. Unless it is like a mouse squeak noise. Otherwise it's just the bushings.

It's actually the pivot cup that's making that noise and unfortunately you can replace it I don't think but all you can do is pour some soap shavings in it (yes I know, sounds weird but it works) and that will get rid of the squeak for maybe a week which stinks but that's pretty much all you can do about it. It doesn't effect the board's performance any though in case you were wondering

i learned riding on a penny. its not a real one but its amazing and i cruise on it almost everyday. and i have a other board that looks like a nickel but its also not real. but i really dont like it. im so used to the little board that when im on that other one im scared to fall because all the sudden ive got so much more space xD

I know I am late but if you still like riding shark wheels come with better ride on rough roads and they have bearings that in my opinion really crush bones reds as much as I love bones red bearings there a solid options 3 years after I got my shark wheels the bearings are as fast as ever

+agsparklekat The bearings it comes with (abec 7's) are not fast enough for a cruiser board...not even really fast enough for a normal board...bones reds are great if you're on a budget (15$) or if you want to realllllly cruise around at great speeds get bones race reds (30$) do NOT get bones super reds (30$) super reds are the exact same speed as normal reds...they just "last longer and ride smoother" (you don't notice a difference at all) so don't listen to these guys about super reds...get either normal reds (alot better than abec 7's) or bones race reds (10x better than abec 7's)

at the end of the day it all comes to where you are riding it and how you will use it. penny is good for travel or commuting, nickel is good for cruising. penny is way easier to fit in a suitcase or bag because its smaller. foot size doesn't matter too much because you will be able to fit on both. if you want more control with more foot room- go for the nickel. but if you feel comfortable with less foot room and more control the penny is good too. a good suggestion is to go to a store that sells them and stand on both to see what you feel more comfortable with

Someone please help me. I am just interested in crusing, no tricks but I have a fake penny that is 22.5 and with size 9n feet and still growing, it's getting and gonna be hard to balance on. So, what should I get, a 22 inch or 27? I think I can get a 22 and use it just fine but my only problem is balancing on it with up to 14 size feet (in mens). Phils Knee well probley because my board was cheaper than quality ones but i still ride my nickle now and now that have rode it for a while it turns easyier but since my wheels are cheep (along with the board in genral, but they came on the board) the area little messed up its hard to have a smooth ride on a ruff rode

How old are you? I would probably suggest the Original, but if you are just starting out go for the Nickel.

If your a beginner get the nickel because it will be more stable and comfortable because of its larger deck size, however, if your are more advanced go with the original because it's carvier and snappier. It is also a little more portable. Hope this helps!

If your new to with the nickel for its bigger deck size, but if your going for portability, or are a little more advanced and want a carvier, snappier feel, go with the penny. Size and weight don't have much to do with it, more importantly or rider ability! Hope this helps!

I'm having the same issue. I asked a few friends who skate and they said if I had a pretty good sense of balance then get a penny but If I needed to work on my balance a bit more then get the nickel. If you get a chance see if a skate shot has both and give them a ride and after that consider other factors (I.e. Would you ride short or long distance, size, price, ect)

I hate penny boards with a passion but if you're stuck deciding which one you want to get then get the normal penny...the whole point of a penny board is how fun/tiny they are making traveling easy and easy to carry around....a nickel board is just a cheap ass HEAVY plastic longboard....if you need a nickel board then just get a real longboard...and don't listen to that dudes advice about super reds if you want to upgrade...super reds are the exact same speed as bones reds and they even admit it on the website...they just say they're "smoother and longer lasting" IF normal bones reds are not fast enough for you (they will be) then upgrade to bones RACE reds not super reds. race reds are only 2 more dollars than super reds and almost double the speed of reds/super reds. and don't ride these in the rain like these dudes did you're just gonna ruin your bearings and rust everything else to shit too... keep your bearings clean/oiled with bones speed cream.
