The whole ‘ your salary is private ‘ thing is just to keep people from talking and realizing disparities in pay across roles.

I was raised non-union and for many years didn't see the point of becoming a member. Until...I found out I wasn't being paid the correct wage. I phoned the union and spoke to them about what was going on and they helped me. The person I spoke to said I didn't have to be a paid member and could join at any time I wished. Needless to say I became a member.

I think a lot of what is happening in America right now is this exactly. No one wants to admit it, but we don’t seem to care until the issue hits home and affects us. A child be bleeding on the street saying it was due to *un violence for eg, but until it happens to our child all of a sudden we can actually “see” the issue. It’s an empathy problem. And yes, we are all victims of not using it. But now is the time where we actually need this skillset. We re not all going to be able to experience the pain that comes from being effected by an issue. But it is our responsibility to hear each out and have compassion, bc honestly, the next day it might just be you.

Unions have certainly gotten a bad rap, and though not entirely blameless, the principal virtue of their mission should remain paramount in our minds: united, we stand; divided, we fall.

@@Inunity2020 That’s what countries like Denmark understand. Their taxes ARE higher BUT they NEVER HAVE TO WORRY about being unhoused, experiencing 30 years of college debt, no healthcare if you don’t have a job, expensive childcare, no mandatory 30 days of vacations, and the elderly who are homeless and dying alone, etc They NEVER NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT SUFFERING THOSE THINGS IN SHAME - NEVER! And yet, they manage to enjoy a great standard of living across the board! What wouldn’t YOU give to enjoy peace of mind YEAR AFTER YEAR?🕊️🕊️🕊️🌟💙😀😋☀️ In AMERICA. . . our daily lives are unfortunately more like a roller coaster ride🎢🤢🤮. . . and it is NOT FUN!

The age old question. Thank you for you necessary honesty. Blessings Sister. You are a BRIGHT LIGHT. 🎉💫🙏🏾💚🌏💎 PS once you cross the border of the physical to metaphysical you'll realize the power struggle and enslavement go to additional seemingly "unreal" levels...but most are blissfully unaware and asleep in this simulation. 🤷🏾♀️

Hey, I got baited into your channel via the Project 2025 video as many people seem to have been and I'm so glad. It was extremely educational and empowering. As a brit, we appear to be seeing the far right grow here too. The tories had to go because they just messed everything up for too long but the public believes the fault is with the individuals within the party, and not the conservative style policies themselves. The Labour Party is not what it once was as many, albeit not all, policies they've outlined are still very conservative. The current Prime Minister, Kier Starmer, has also been making it his mission to cull and silence even slightly left wing MPs from the party. Additionally, we saw a massive growth in the far right party Reform UK (formerly UKIP) who are just blatantly the worst. We saw decent rise for the left wing Green Party which is nice but they still have like half of the support in polls than Reform UK. Then, overall we saw a particularly poor voter turnout which speaks to the nihilism that the public have seeped into. But yeah, that's just a bit of a recap of events here for if you were interested.

I hate to say it but collectively we struggle w the victim mindset. We have been studied, laws/policies manipulated and weaponized/used against us so, until we feel helpless. We are not truly practiced w standing in our power/knowing and am standing up for our rights anymore. So, the response is to to tuck tail, turn on our peers/ or the underdogs who are actually trying to be bold and make things better for us bc it’s easier to direct our anger at them, and bully them than the actual oppressors. I would love to hear the psychology breakdown on that.

I am a union electrician I.B.E.W. Local 477. Our nation wide wages are proportional to the cost of living to that area. Work is slow in our jurisdiction so I traveled to an area that’s very busy (Bakersfield ca) the scale here is 53.65/hr. I am very grateful for our working conditions today and to those who came before me and in some cases died to make my job safer.

There are many factors that cause grief and warrant advocacy about our middle school and high school curricula. Next to Civics, I think that Psychology should be a shoo-in, particularly for points raised in this video. The best of us would never believe that we are susceptible to cognitive dissonance and can stand steadfast against our own interests and values, but we are susceptible and are often blinded to the reality when they happen.

Lol on my first paying job in the animation industry I immediately talked about my salary with my supervisor who got so angry that she stormed off to the bosses office because when she was reluctant to accept the job since she had to move from spain to italy for it she had been told by him that he would give her the "supervisor pay" but it was actually the exact same amount I was getting. Plus that a-hole put some really predatory stuff in our contract for which I basically got paid my first month salary 4 months after I got started and the other supervisor told me "be thankful because in italy these are the good ones, at least they do pay you in the end." Had I not had my mother supporting me I would have not made it paying rent and food.

@@raoulroberts2024 thank you, yes my mom is very nice for these things! ever since I stay clear of certain behaviours and I google or ask all parts of contracts I don't fully understand. It was like an acronym that I didn't even fully registered that meant "payment will be given at the end of the month after the invoice has been sent" and since I invoiced at the very beginning of the month after my first month of work it all ended up taking 4 months!

I see the salary disclosure sensitivity (or lack thereof) as one due mainly to generational differences. I welcome the openness that is now in fashion, for it has the potential to disrupt disparities and advocate for fair wages. Knowledge purposely withheld is causal to exploitation through ignorance.

Any worker doing two or more jobs, asked to be available whenever the company needs them, staying for meetings after hours, or training people with no additional pay ON TOP of everything you’re ALREADY EXPECTED to DO - are volunteering to participate in WAGE THEFT 😡 FROM THEMSELVES! You’re actually allowing a company to “help” you steal from yourself!😱😨 It’s the POOR worker who is GIVING their money to the FILTHY RICH company.👎🤢😵💫 . . . because WITHOUT A UNION you ARE ALWAYS IN FEAR of loosing your job.

So I was just having this sidebar conversation which I would LOVEEEE for Dasia's input on: why can't jobs give salaries based off your cost of living? For example: I have these many bills provided with documents and verified evidence of how much it cost for me to pay my necessities, state taxes etc. and then a standardized allocation percentile bracket for ALLL citizens be for your wants and savings and once all of your expenses, savings, and percentage for wants are added then you can calculate a salary? Because at this point how in the world can a college educated person measure upwards if jobs are not paying upwards yet the cost of living is rising from what feels like everyday 😫 Is this feasible just a think tank idea?

Very astute, you sound like Marx Don't get too excited about the Labour party in the UK It's true, it was founded 130 years ago as the political wing of the unions, and some unions still support it financially but others are at least considering withdrawal of funding I'm British in the UK and I came to your channel via your project 2025 video (nice presentation there) in which you state whoever gets elected must support Israel Well it's the same here and the UK labour party has once again been hijacked (as it was with Blair) Too much to put in a comment but Andrew Feinstein who ran against Keir Starmer, now our PM, has many videos on KZbin worth watching (Feinstein was part of the ANC in South Africa and an MP in Mandela's government We did have a "left" labour leader, at least he was painted that way by the press - he's really a Social Democrat in the Scandinavian mould. The real problem was Corbyn supported Palestine, and that won't do! Germaine to this video, the class struggle is like feminism or racism - the goal in combatting these things is a state in which it means nothing. By which I mean whether your this class or that sex or whatever race is of no import at all, this would be equality. At least this is my view, and yes it seems an impossible dream from where we stand

I genuinely don't understand the idea of being anti union(unless you're the billionaires benefiting I suppose) . Why would you not want an organization that advocates for you??? In my country, not being part of a union is seen as a short sighted, vulnerable position. Must be the left over French influence 😅😅
