Incredible job on your classic F-250. I had purchased my grandfather’s 67 F-250 Camper Special, Custom Cab with 352/4 speed. It was the best truck that I have ever owned. Mostly highway miles as my grandparents enjoyed fishing and camping and it was very well maintained.

My favorite series f250. I have a 72 f250 factory high boy. Two tone green XLT ranger with factory AC. 4 speed power breaks. I put a 69 429 engine mated to the original transmission. I added power steering from a 78 f350 along with the front Dana 60 with disk breaks. The trucks of this vintage Ford’s are tough as nails

outstanding. Have had a few bumps and the forward sloping front end, full length 'bump' along the side and the toughness of these is why I love them. appreciate your work and certainly motivates me to build one more factory style instead of dropping a godzilla or build a 427FE in it and lay it on the frames as I would tend to do. of course nothing wrong with those builds but something about Penny is special and I think its the fact that its a factory style. new trend coming on! lol. thx for all the details.

Brycen, what a beautiful truck you have created out of a Ho-Hum 4x2 F250. I have always loved the Ford F-250 / F350 High Boy 4x4 chassis....Watching your video blog on this beauty brought tears to my eyes....I guess If it were me restoring this beauty, I would have put a new Harbour Blue paint job on her....and replaced the white bumpers with chrome.....But, I do respect your wanting to keep the original patina for the historical content on the vehicle.... What can I say...the truck is a show-stopper...I suspect if you were ever to sell Penny, she'd go for a "pretty Penny" LoL....
@prddesign3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I couldn't bring myself to paint it. All of the character would be lost and it would just be another repainted old truck, but maybe on the next one. A patina that rough and especially that solid is rare and the 54 years it took to become that.
@jimoverman84383 жыл бұрын
Beautiful Truck. Saving the patina & treating the underside body for longevity with tinted bed liner was a huge improvement. Congratulations on the successful auction. I am in the process of competing a mostly mechanical restoration of a 1969 Camper Special, that will retain its patina paint. Very impressed with what you've done.

I had a F250 Camper Special back in the 70s and 80s mainly for building my house. Not quite sure of the year mine had a 360 with automatic in it. Lots of low end not much top end. Had scale slips showing I hauled over 2 tons of gravel in it a couple of times which I hauled for more than 25 miles, it was a tank.

She’s a sweet pickup for sure, great call on the 255/85’s on 16” steel wheels, I can’t stand this trend toward 20” rims and 14” wide rubber band tires on these old 4wd pickups. The only things I’d do differently is I’d forgo the power steering in favor of putting an overdrive transmission, probably an NV4500 but maybe a T-56 if budget allowed. The nice thing about the divorced T-case on Hi-boy’s is you can swap to almost any overdrive trans you want with just an advance adapters bellhousing and a modified stub-shaft to go between the trans and T-case.

My childhood days on camping trips and fishing, my dad owned a 65 Ford camper special and a 73 Ford. I would love to have a old school "dependable" old Ford 4x4 restored as a daily driver over the crap made now days. No heated steering wheel? A pair of gloves given from someone from Christmas does the trick. You know not to drive like an idiot, air bags not required! But.....Seat belts are cool!

@darrelfuhrman82173 жыл бұрын
I think that your cab lights on your pickup maybe original. My brother in law’s 67 F250 camper special he ordered with a 352 with an automatic had 3 cab lights that looked similar. 67 on back could have 3 or 5 cab lights if it was over a certain width, and a overhead camper put it at that width. 68 on had to have 5 cab lights. He lived in El Paso so he also had add on AC. Why do you call it Penny? On the farm we call one Bud, because that was the former owner’s name. Hello from north east Montana. 10 miles from the Canadian border.
