If you didn't know, Scott has always taken over bass lines when Avi would sing a solo when he was in the group, and he does the same here when Matt sings. Scott has such an amazing range.

Normally, I'm not much into songs done 'a cappella' because I feel they lack the richness/depth of instrumented songs ... but this version of this song (which is one of my all-time favorite songs!) I could listen to over and over! Beautiful! (BTW ... Fun Fact: The new bass, Matt Sallee, is the only other member of PTX, than Kevin, with a college degree. Kevin has a degree in Pre-Med from Princeton. Matt has a degree in voice from Berklee School of Music (a top 10). He was also in Berklee's a capella group.

Ok I have to say I love this video but one thing I have noticed is that every reaction video I have seen to this is all about the sound and how absolutely beautiful it is. (I agree ) That being said no one ever talks about the lyrics of the song :) Just my opinion but the lyrics say being silent when you see a wrong is just as bad as committing the wrong yourself. Who do you think covers bass when Avi or Matt are singing. I am really surprised at how many people never realized this. If the bass vocalist is singing and the bass accompaniments are still going in the background and this happens even on live concert videos, then someone has to cover the bass part. 😉

I wonder how many of this generation know that Simon and Garfunkel wrote this song to enlighten the many of a nuclear attack after the Cold War of the early 60's. The sight of the neon flash that split the night, the words of the Prophets of one generation warning future generations through warnings on the subway walls and tenement halls, speaking of the Sounds of Silence left after. Let us not pray to the neon gods that have been made At this point and time, so many nations threatening war, using what Simon and Garfunkel warned us about. Pentatonix has redone this song for current generations. May those with ears to hear, and visions in their heads, heed their words.

While this cover definitely has their own spins on the song, it's far closer to the Disturbed version of the song than the original. I would also highly recommend the Disturbed version, of Pentatonix covers this one is one of the few there a decent number of Pentaholics like their version less than another version. By no means is this cover bad, it's amazing, but many people including myself just love the Disturbed cover a lot and feel it expresses the message of the song (although in a more aggressive tone) than this cover. This cover is great but it's very up-beat and doesn't feel quite right with the song's message to me. Vocally it's insane, but emotionally it wasn't as charged for me.
