What do y'all think about this challenge? Do you think that the social media influencers are posting it for clout or do you consider this just to be a good deed? Should this be posted? How do you feel about the people who are going into the baby supplies scavenging for money?

if they didnt post it on the internet, people wouldnt do the challenge in the first place. So it is better that they did even if some steal the money, some money might still reach the mothers. Or they could have donated the money.

Back in college, we had a Random Act of Kindness day. Anyway, the idea was that the person was supposed to be surprised by it. People would do stuff like sticking $20s into vending machines. The idea is that you don't announce it, you just do it to help someone out. I personally think filming it takes the humanity away.

It’s kinda dumb to be honest. Isn’t it better to film themselves donating baby/kids supplies to shelters and community centers? I don’t like people only doing this for content but if you’re gonna do it, do it properly.

That and I bet a solid few of the people taking the money just placed money under an item in a random baby section in a store are recorded themselves taking it; just to troll people who weren't trying to help anyways. Tbh there are better ways to help mothers. Donate to a women's shelter or other related services??? Only on tik tok/the internet do people make up these harebrained attempts at altruism; it's just content creation. This is on par with leaving a sandwich in an alley way cause homeless people deserve to eat. Lemme not say that too loudly tho before these vultures coin the 'they deserved the sandwich' trend next 😒

People leave random crap everywhere. One time I found baby clothes in the cleaning section. I guess having an air freshener is more important than their baby having warm clothes 😂😂 No but fr, people just impulse grab things and decide they don’t want it anymore. It happens with all kinds of product, including frozen food which then has to be tossed for being left to spoil. They buy Starbucks and leave it half consumed on the shelf (must have a crap ton of money to do that). Some nasties even eat some food and put the rest on the shelf next to/on a product (if you do this you’re a *redacted*). Shucks, let’s talk about the abandoned carts with a few items in them. Oh no, they had to pick between getting their groceries or making their doctor’s appointment on time. Their kid just got suspended and now they have to pick them up. Oh no, a customer just got abducted by a UFO mid-shop!!

Just be careful what women’s shelter. Some are really good, but there’s one in my city that won’t take any comfort items, make up, really high quality clothes, etc that many do for the mothers. They tell you that if you have things to donate to just take them to the their thrift store so they can sell them all, that they don’t do any comfort items for the women, and that they prefer if you just donate money. Also they have really shitty Google reviews spanning years on how they mistreated women seeking help. So do your research before donating

As a retail worker, this is literally just making so much work for the employees who are already overworked and underpaid. 😭 Because all those products that are ripped open esp. medicine, have to be claims in the back. It takes up employee time to have to fix that and it steals company money. Which in turn makes the companies charge more, and also lock up more behind plastic cases making you waste more time out of your valuable day.

My daughter-in-law works at Target. Two days ago a man bought a suitcase. He was suspicious as the suitcase seemed to be very heavy. They didn't have him on camera but checked the suitcase. It had several Stanley cups and 10 cans of baby formula inside. NOT paid for. Now the formula can't be sold in case it was tampered with. So a mom who needed a can of that formula may not get one. He wasn't stealing a single can of formula because he had no money and had a hungry baby at home-- he was going to sell it with a Stanley cup. That type of person makes me as you said "clutch my pearls " Also obviously Target loses enough merchandise via theft-- now they can't sell the ransacked items either. All of this because someone projected a narrative onto the fact that someone stuck a purse in the baby aisle. Someone could’ve been deciding between two purses as they walked down that aisle and just put the one they didn’t want on the shelf out of laziness. A mom could’ve been shopping with her daughter who picked up the purse in an attempt to get mom to buy it for her and the mom said no. Or any other scenario. People leave stuff on shelves they shouldn’t all the time. More likely than not it means nothing.

Yea, let me go ransack every Walmart in my area because everyone must know about it and is doing it. I had no clue till this video. 5. You're destroying/tampering with product that now has to be damaged out. Those wipes/ diapers/formula could've been the last ones that someone needed, but now it has get trashed. 6. The workers have to now be on guard, clean up your messes, and restock. More work for already strained employees. 🙄

Idk, I am of the mind. If it really was out of the kindness of someone's heart, I wouldn't hear about it. Why do something nice for someone and show it? Is it for the person to help them, or do you want the glory and attention? Why film it?
@Sweet_Dee
@Sweet_Dee 22 күн бұрын
I feel like the person who started the trend probably had good intentions and maybe they were just trying to put the idea out there in hopes of helping more mothers. (Because I'm sure a lot of people would never have thought to do this on their own). But after that video blew up, there was really no good reason for everyone else to film themselves participating. The raiding could have been prevented if more people did the nice thing in private. No one would raid their local baby aisle because one person made a video slipping cash into items. But since people all over the country/world are posting themselves doing this, the scumbags realized they might actually have a chance at finding money in a box of diapers.

I don't understand this... About three years ago there was a woman with a baby in need. Someone wrote into a group on FB about her, asking if people had xlothes, food, baby cosmetics, nappies, etc to spare. Not a single person wrote telling this person that they'd help. I wrote a DM to them and in short, ended up getting things for the wee family for few months. But I didn't understand why no one else even expressed empathy. Then my mum said "They are asking for real addressed help, you cannot make it glamorous and fancy, so they thought it's not worth it for them." I thought this trend was cute but I always questioned why they didn’t just hand it to the single mothers and fathers they see in the store. The money in the packages could end up with some rich mother who doesn’t need the little $20. Also, how do we know they’re not taking the money back instead of actually leaving it. Handing it to people is way more believable

I was thinking the same thing as that man. Why would you put $20 bills in a diaper box at Walmart?? No one who is struggling goes to target, especially to buy food or baby stuff for themselves. My family never bought necessities at target. We only went there if we were getting a gift for a birthday party or baby shower. I also think it’s so dumb to record yourself going and hiding money, like people are going to look for it, they could just make a video of them saying that they did this and say how hard it is being a mom and how they want to support other moms.

The annoying part of this trend is the initial post was a fan fiction story made up by the OP. We don't know for a fact that a mother gave up a purse for baby formula. So basically, everyone involved in this "she deserved the bag" challenge are using altruism to feel good about themselves.

I understand that the original post might have been made with good intentions I’m just confused how a purse in a baby section is what led to all of this? At first I thought it was a purse that was forgotten because thats just the kind of day the mom was having or something but this is just not the first place my mind would go 😅 I worked in retail (Target actually lol) back when I was in school and it was just expected to find stuff misplaced everywhere in the store because it was easier to leave it there than go put it back where you got it. Idk I just dont really see how a misplaced purse led to this realization that yes, people are struggling and moms can absolutely have it harder (if they’re actually trying to be a good parent) but I think there are better ways to ensure you’re actually helping the population you’re trying to help like donating to shelters or food banks, etc. Or if you really want to help right there in the store, hang out around the checkout lines and choose who you directly want to bless by offering to pay for those wipes/diapers etc. or even giving them a gift card. I don’t think it needs to be publicized but that’s a whole other thing lol
@711g
@711g 23 күн бұрын
Ditto. As a fellow retail worker, people leave stuff in random places all the time. There are so many ways to pass it on that doesn't come off as clout chasing and self-serving. And also doesn't harm the store.

It’s something you would only understand if you yourself are a mom. It happens. In the baby aisle choosing to get something your baby needs that happens to be more expensive than you thought or the price went up and now that small you item you were gonna get for yourself is out of the budget. So it ends up on a shelf somewhere.
@vickieclark5931
@vickieclark5931 23 күн бұрын
So true. I thought that it was a purse that a poor mom left behind because she was so tired and busy. That does happen. But to come to that conclusion about a purse being put in the wrong aisle. That is just weird to me. We all see things in wrong aisles all of the time at the grocery and retail stores. People are lazy and don't put stuff back. More than likely it was a lazy person that felt too entitled to put the purse back where she found it. That's what I would bet on.
@vickieclark5931
@vickieclark5931 23 күн бұрын
@@thrill102 Well, that would be kind of weird because if you are a struggling parent, a purse is the last thing you would be looking at anyways. So that purse sitting there was more than likely a lazy person that decided to not put it back. As someone who works in grocery, I see that happen ALL the time.

So someone created an entire narrative out of what was likely nothing and an entire trend was made? I literally leave stuff I don't want to buy anymore in random places in the store sometimes (I know, I'm bad). There could be a million reasons why that purse was there - lol. Instead of donating baby supplies to places that literally exist for that reason, people are engaging in passive acts of kindness (* cough clout). People must be really bored these days to resort to such pointless behavior. Side note: Just because someone has kids doesn't make them deserving of anything. This idea is where so many bad parents get their entitlement from. We live in the real world. Not what is displayed on social media.
