On Today's Episode:
That feeling you grapple with every day of wanting to change, but struggling to change because 30 minutes into the day you’ve already caved and did what you said you wouldn't do, is more than paralyzing. It makes you frustrated and angry with yourself. That habit loop of disappointment leads many people to depression and living a mundane life filled with unfulfilling things you don’t even value.
Tony Robbins is a legend that needs no introduction. His work has been changing lives at scale for decades and continues to grow more powerful and more impactful every year.
Tony’s Date with Destiny program was shown in a controlled study by Stanford University researchers to improve the state of mind of clinically depressed participants without the use of drugs, even well after program completion. The power of what you focus on, good or bad impacts the life you experience. As Tony emphasizes in this conversation, a compelling future that allows you to focus on something more than yourself, something meaningful is required to start living your best life.

QUOTES:
“We can all deal with a difficult today if we have a compelling tomorrow.”
“You don’t experience life, you experience the life you focus on.”
“People have habits of what they focus on and those habits become your biochemical habits as well.”
“Identity is, who are you beyond the problem.”
“We’re drawing in information and we’re starving for wisdom.”
“A belief is a poor substitute for experience. You can tell somebody something and they can nod their head and cognitively understand it, but that’s quite different from the visceral experience of getting it in your body.”
“Most people think that hypnosis is something that people do to them, but most people are living in a hypnotized state.”
“Self-esteem is earned by yourself for yourself. It comes from doing something incredibly difficult and no one else knows it, you know it that’s why you have esteem for yourself.”
“It’s really what you link pain and pleasure to that creates lasting change.”
“The biggest drug on the planet is problems because everyone has a deep fear.”
“Leverage is what makes change a must not a should.”
“We can get beyond any pain that we’ve been through if there’s something we want to serve more than ourselves.”

Words cannot express my gratitude toward Tony Robbins! Over 25 years ago, Tony and his work transformed my life. I went from being a man crippled by shyness and low self-esteem to becoming a highly-successful executive, consultant to multi-billion dollar companies, and one of the most highly-rated therapists in southern California. Tony was, and still is, THE MAN!

“We’re Drowning In Information, and We’re Starving For Wisdom” - I had to stop the video to really let that sink in my mind. I’m 40 years old and I was around before the internet, when we had to actually go talk to people for information. The truth is you need Wisdom, we need Wisdom. You don’t need more information in order to go take action, in fact you would be better off with less talk and noise. Go do it.

Ray, I wish you well friend. I personally know what you're going through. If I can offer some advice that may make a difference in your life. It would be to disconnect yourself from all forms of media. Take up meditation as a daily practice. It's worked wonders for me. A lot of this will be work that you have to do alone. Love you Tony Robbins!!! Thank you Tom!! And I totally get Tom. I have been there where I tried to feel with with mind/head instead of my heart. As much as it pains me to say it, yes it's really the emotion. It's the end and the beginning; it's sloppy, messy and all over the place. But it's also beautiful and profound and makes us human. Tony needs to talk to people who suffer from depression. Not sad because you going through something but depression. I hve zero reason to b depressed. But life is a struggle everyday for me. I think when people have suffered abuse for years on end something happens to their brain living in survival mode. The brain chemistry will not go back to normal, it’s damaged. All the positive meditation does not help me at all. I wish it did. Tony never suffered from depression. He don’t talk like he ever did that’s for sure.

Tony is so spot on with everything he’s saying . Also , a big reason his conferences are so successful with people is that it gives a sense of community and tribe with others . Shared loved and support , feeling seen and heard . Etc . That is so huge and sooooo lacking in our society . Everyone is lonely and more isolated than ever . Which is contributing to the overwhelming amount of people with anxiety and depression . It’s too bad there isn’t more of his groups or likeminded groups available for everyone to go to either free or more affordable than the 6 grand he charges for such a conference. It’s a powerful healing tool .

Fear is the first emotion we feel when we’re born it’s the reason why we cry and receive comfort when place on our mothers arms second we feel peace. Our minds generate thoughts to create these emotions which leads us make decisions, I believe if you learn what’s right and wrong and ethical when emotions comes like saddens let them go by likes waves they will always come and go that’s just how the human nervous system was created. Never go by how you feel at the moment because once that feeling goes the choices made could not be a wise one. Live everyday being grateful and value what really matters which is Hope peace and love

Tony Robbins books and cassette tapes back in the day helped me get off the ground as a 20 year old entrepreneur I am very fortunate now in my 50s I can attribute this surely to reading some of his books and incorporating his strategies. He’s still amazing. I remember he would outstretch his hand or maybe would in sequence and then we would take a deep inhalation and either strike our chest or bend in an arc. I went to a lecture he gave. Study up on this guy. He’s a great teacher. Thanks for posting the interview.

Working through depression one thing a mentor told me when I said “all these messages seem so simple but it’s not.” He told me just because something is simple does not make it easy.

Tony uses tools from CBT and Somatic therapy which has been proven to work. Tony has the gift of also using motivational therapy which makes him successful. He is basically a therapist. 👏👏👏👏. Love him!

I'm a clinical hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner and trainer, in practice for over 20 years. I got my start in the field of changework as a seminar facilitator for Anthony Robbins & Associates through a gentleman named, Alan Brown, who, at the time, was Tony's top trainer in the U.S. To be accurate, CBT and somatic therapy have adopted patterns taken from Tony, NLP, and hypnotherapy.
