Loved the western style narration. It definitely makes you feel sorry for people that don't get to experience the trials, difficulties and triumphs and failures of traveling exposed to the elements like that. I love the dumb stories that I have from motorcycle trips and they're really about as close as you can get to how people experienced the world before it was tamed as it is now.

Rode a 850 Yamaha triple, in a 40°F downpour from Clearwater to Gainesville for Thanksgiving dinner once. That was the longest, most miserable 140 miles I have ever ridden. When I got to my best friends farm they parked me by the wood stove and gave me a Tervis cup 2/3 full of black coffee and 1/3 full of bourbon, and they watched steam rise off of me for the next half hour. If you're outstanding then sometimes it will be in the rain.

The worst ride I ever made was a 1998 cbr 900rr it was 1999 and I was riding from Myrtle Beach to Atlanta, didn’t have a choice I had to be in Atlanta, and Hurricane Floyd hit, it took 6 hours of sitting in stopped traffic in evacuation mode like 18 inches of Rain of course it Rained almost all the way to atlanta, to the point where it was tough to even see, probably stopped 20 times freezing my ass off soaked, that 5 hour ride to 18 hours about 8 of it it dead stopped one way traffic. I’ll NEVER forget that trip.

have you ever heard of that stuff called blue locktite for those air cleaner screws? and you better hope they used it on the air cleaner backing plate. the exhaust fastener, now that's something different, but 43 years on shovels has caused me to find the home brew cure for that.

Growing up riding in Canada, I learned that a garbage bag works as a raincoat in a pinch. Bein' wet in the cold can really mess ya up.

If you happen to be up in the PNW the first Saturday in December, you should come up to Olympia for the Olympia Toy Run. It's been going on for almost 50 years to help kids and families in need for the holidays. On good weather years, you see thousands of bikes coming together to help the community, numbers drop off a bit weather dependent but rain snow or shine it's always held.

If there's enough of the cush drive is still intact you can shim them using thin plastic cutting boards or my favorite $2 fix placemats. Cut them to size and slide them in. That's the Ozarks mountains approved repair.

Us PNW riders are so into riding gear because getting wet = getting cold which can become very dangerous very quickly here. Once you get wet, getting dry is near impossible if you are out riding all day.

Had a similar KZ1000p. Was also hard starting. Needed the valves set. Was a bit low on compression without adjustment. (GL1500 diaphragm?)
