I love how the brother in the first story stepped in to not get his sister in trouble for a stupid reason. honestly, I feel bad for the sister because as a female if I didn't have my sisters I wouldn't even know what a period was and my sisters helped me out a lot. Edit: Ummm.... so I didn't think this was gonna get that much attention so thanks I guess?? Edit 2: 1k likes????

my father raised me and any time i tried to even remotely say something super basic, like at the smallest level, he'd end the convo immediately. then he gets annoyed that i feel too awkward to ask for pads so i just struggle and figure it out myself. i mean now i'm working and am in college n whatnot but it was so difficult to be comfortable early on.

One time when I was on my period, I accidentally dripped a little blood on the toilet seat, and because I didn’t notice it, I left it there. My brother went to use the bathroom and noticed the blood. He calmly and politely told me about it and asked me to clean it up. I was around 14-15 at the time, and he was around 16-17. That “man” in the first story is an immature loser and a disgrace to the very idea of manhood. Also, the amount of people who think giving birth is some kind of spectator sport and not a dangerous and traumatic experience lacks some of the necessary components to be a good spouse/parent. If you aren’t the one giving birth, you don’t decide who can be there.

Honestly he has no excuse to be stressed my grandad rest in peace. Was sick for as long as i knew him. He was on dialysis until he died. However he never raised his voice at my grandma. He was always fixing up the house. Mowing the lawn as weak aa he was. My grandma ended up with breast cancer. Even while he was getting his treatments he got up and took her to all her appointments. On days he was too tired and weak to move. They were taking care of each other. My grandma couldnt bare the stress it was on him. She told him that she was gonna stop treatment. He told her no and said your treatment has an end date. Mines dont mines wont be ovee until i die. So yes im tired but you gonna keep going. She kept fighting because she had to take care of him. Shortly after he passed away but at least i still have my grandma. And grandad suffering finally ended.

I had heard of dads and other male family members not really helping or understanding their daughter/sister's period and considering it taboo. After hearing that first story, I feel pretty fortunate that my dad was so understanding. I do have my mom around, so she did help me a lot with understanding how my body worked, but my dad was usually the one who would research what pads were best for me or if I was ready for a tampon and overall help me out with my period when it started(he's a stay at home dad, and my mom goes to work. So he'd be around most of the time when it started). So I thought it was super sweet that the brother was mature enough to understand and help his sister through her first period😃

The lasts story makes me sick. How dare he guilt his wife into feeling bad about a sickness that is literally killing her. The fact that he seems more upset by how her cancer is inconveniencing him than her, the one who is actually physically and probably mentally suffering and the one who actually HAS IT. What is wrong with people, and how long had he been saying these kinds of things for her to FINALLY snap, along with the fact that she even felt bad afterwords? Smh.

The story of the woman with breast cancer broke my heart and made me mad. My mom has breast cancer for the fourth time and it’s metastatic, and one thing I’ve learned is to appreciate people around me, especially my mother. I'm pregnant. I don't see why the husband thought it was such a big deal to have his mother there. It is a big deal who you bring in the delivery room, but not because those people are more special than anyone else. You bring them because they make you feel comfortable and calm and who will encourage you during the process. I will have my husband, mom, and sister there because they are the three people who I feel the most comfortable around. I have two other sisters, but neither of them are very positive people. While I love them both very dearly, I wouldn't feel comfortable giving birth with them present, and I'm pretty sure they don't want to be present either. With the first story I get the dads frustration, but the way he dealt with it was horrible. He should’ve calmly explained to wrap the pad up in toilet paper. (This is common practice, atleast where I’m from. Not just to hide the sight and mess of blood, but also the smell.) Yelling at her when she’s already stressed about the situation happening (it being her first) isn’t going to make anything easier. Just say “You need to wrap up your products before you throw them away baby” it’s that easy.

Being a caregiver for a loved one is stressful, and it’s normal to feel some frustration and resentment. Feelings aren’t fair-the caregiver is usually giving up their own needs to care for the loved one and it’s hard. The trick is to find ways to vent those feelings without dumping them on the loved one, who is also struggling. Sounds like that husband needs a caregiver support group, or to bring in respite care for a day or two and go fishing-anything to get his head on straight so he can be strong for his wife.

The first story: Good on the brother for helping his sister when she probably confided in him on her first period and he helped out getting her tampons, pads, or whatever she uses now. Honestly if Dad was having that much of a bad day he shouldn’t be punishing his daughter about her FIRST PERIOD. She wasn’t going to foresee it days beforehand but she now likely does because of PMS and because of the calendar built in app she may have on her phone or apps like Clue and Flo. If no one who lives with her is a woman, all men could do (dad and brother) is live with it and help out during her first few periods and get her her products when she runs out of them and they’re at the drug store. I get Dad was in a bad mood but kudos to big brother for sympathizing with her!

Second story: Honestly the wife is right in this situation. I’d want my blood relative (mom or closest thing to a mom blood related or not) to be with me. My mom died when I was 10, heck I’d have my dad or stepmom if they don’t die by the time I have kids. Mom shouldn’t have someone who makes her uncomfortable in the room while she pushes a baby out. If the husband can’t respect that and leaves her over it, wow….

Third: This husband should be supporting his wife, not treat her like she’s the cause of all his problems. My grandfather has had early stage cancer pop up everywhere 25 ish times and he’s still with us even with a tiny piece of lung left that survived COVID because he’s vaccinated but now we’re watching his lungs like hawks at his check up in a few days because that’s how bad his lungs cancer and COVID made them. Hello Kyutie✌️🤗 #1- In my opinion, the dad was being too much, like the pad is in the trash can, why is he freaking out, and it's hard for the sister because it's her first time having her period, the least he could do is be supportive #2- I feel her husband is pulling a stunt to get his way, to make her rethink her decision, tbh she shouldn't, he's not going thru pain for a second time, and his mother makes his wife uncomfortable and they don't really like each other, so the wife isn't in the wrong, the husband is being childish #3- who asked him to quit his job? Who asked him to drive and get her medicine for her? No one but he decided to do it for her, and now he's complaining for something she can't control, there are things you can't control and can't plan for, she didn't ask for cancer but she got it and all she needs is support, not disgust

Judging from the last guy's behavior, I wouldn't be surprised if he is or is on the brink of becoming physically abusive. He laid the groundwork by planting this seed in OPs mind that it's somehow her fault and hoping she'll believe it. Then he can use that to justify his abuse. This is honestly one of the most upsetting stories I've heard in a while. Not to make light of OPs illness, but I think it's fair to say OPs husband is like a second tumor and I personally think she should leave his butt before this escalates. Someone who would say something like that (continuously!) is only going to make things worse in the long run. Also, side note, why is he so upset that he has to eat a microwave dinner because OP can't cook? Does he not have hands?? I can't cook but even I would either try to just make a dish myself or shut up and just eat the microwave dinner if I was in his situation. What a clown.

My dad is strict, whenever I do something wrong he wouldn't mind to give me a slap. And I'm used to it so it's ok. But he is super gentle and polite when it comes to periods. He never complained and he just made sure that I was always ok. and when I get cramps he never hesitated to comfort me an help me. Yes I do sometimes hate my dad because of other reasons but I'm glad that he knows how to cooperate

the dad's reaction to seeing his daughters used pad in the trash is immature and childish. he should've been happy that she at least threw it into the trash, instead of acting like it was the literal worst thing that he's ever seen. nobody is forcing his childish butt to look at it. as for the other brother, kudos to him for handling his little sister's first period in a mature way and educating himself on what all he needs to do to be able to 100% help her. the way he handled was VERY impressive and it's great that he was able to help his sister not feel like garbage for something that's a million percent normal.

Looks like all these people being snapped at have underlying issues. Doesn’t make their behavior acceptable, but other stuff is going on. Okay, story 1 - Dad’s really just not ready to accept that his baby girl is growing up. And probably not really confident in his ability to help. Story 2 - sounds like hubby is missing his mother, who he hasn’t seen or talked to in a while, and probably figured that her 2nd grandchild’s birth would be a great opportunity for him to see her. Story 3 - hubby is dealing with caregiver burnout. He’s been so focused on caring for his wife that he hasn’t been taking care of himself.

My dad to this day will get me my period products, granted he does get the wrong ones all the time but they last until i can get to the store. The looks he gets make him a little made but he tells some men that called him some names that at least he is a man that will do anything for his daughter and that he loves her more which is more than he can say about you. The other fathers and guys shut the heck up and walk away. Yes he does have issues with some of the products laying around but he's not a jerk about it.

3:10 Ellen would never be able to tell her parents to grow up. That is unfair, parents tell their teenage children to grow up all the time. This is usually said by parents who treating their teens like little kids. You, the child, are constantly told to grow up, and most of the time you didn't even say or do anything, the parent is responding to the goblins in their head. However, if you say "grow up" to an adult who totally had it coming, that is not cool?

First story, I relate to. Except for it was my ex-boyfriend's stepdad. I had started my period in the middle of the night while staying over at his house for the night and his stepdad decided to get mad at me and started screaming at me. Told me I had to clean it up instantly even though I was feeling sick to my stomach and was about to puke because it hurts so bad. I literally cried for like 3 hours and ask for my mom to pick me up. I don't understand what the hell is up with men sometimes.

The husband in the last story is venting to the wrong person. He needs to tell those things to a therapist or a caregiver's support group, or even a friend. He is allowed to have feelings and be upset that his plans and life had to change also, but definitely needs a third party to express those things to instead of making his wife feel guilty.

the father in that first story shouldn't have been allowed to have a daughter. it was just me and my dad growing up so i didn't have a woman to help me so when my dad thought i was old enough, he sat me down and explained what was going to be happening to my body soon and that it was normal. when my period started and i tried to cover up the blood but could still see some of it, he didn't freak out. he just gave me some useful tips on how to better cover them up. he even told me "i personally don't care to see blood. but if we end up going out in public or to someone's house, it's just common courtesy to make sure that is completely covered up." i never felt ashamed of my periods, just that the blood shouldn't be visible to everyone

The period story was shocking. What kind of father would act that way? She’s gonna grow up feeling ashamed about her monthly. Not okay. When I met my husband and I had my period for the first time around him? I had dropped a little blood on the floor (without knowing) and he just cleaned up and let me know later. I was so apologetic and embarrassed and he just said “Honey, calm down. It’s natural. It’s only gross when it’s a stranger. Not a lover or a family member.” I am proud to be having daughter’s with him in the future, and sons. With him none of our children will feel shamed or feel grossed out by it.

Okay first story, that's brother is awesome! He's setting a good example for what guys should be doing during a girls period! Second Story it's up to her who she has in the delivery room, the husband has no right to be so butt hurt about not being able to have his mom in there. Grow up And finally the third story! She has cancer be supportive! If you want to complain it do it to a therapist not your wife who has cancer, and who by the way needs your support! You are correct that this is your problem too, however it's incorrect to not be supportive and help her as she needs it and not complain about her cancer every day as though it was her choice! It wasn't her choice if she had her way she wouldn't have cancer at all. In a fantasy setting that is what her desires would be to not have cancer at all. But that's not the reality of it, the reality is she has cancer! And you complaining about it every single day is not helping mr.! So do yourself a favor stop complaining and be helpful!

Sometimes I forgot to put the used pad in the trash can and leave it on the toilet seat wrapped in paper or plastic. My younger brother often see that first and ask me normally to take the pad from there. He is 8 years younger than me and I started my period at quite young age ( 9years old) . At first my brother didn't have the idea what is pad or what's inside the packets sometimes he find in bathroom. He just ask my parents or me about that. My parents are also cool about the incidents. We taught him gradually about the male and female body differences and other things. He is quite understanding and smart compared to his classmates. I am so proud of him.

I've had to fight back people a couple of times. I won't mention names, but I had a heated argument with them, which I won't go into details. The next day the person threatened to send me to the hospital. I told him that he didn't scare me. He got angry & threw the 1st punch & couple of more after that, but didn't hit me. I kicked his stomach & he fell down out of reflex. That was during the time I was at my old dojo & the reason why I mentioned that part is because when you properly train in martial arts your reflexes do increase & I'm not saying not just in fighting, but other things in general. I was a white belt in Karate at the time. The school was called Christian Karate Institute, which was in Belleville NJ USA, but it's been shut down for quite a while now. The instructor was Michael Morris. Back when I was younger, 1 kid put a tootsie roll in my nose. He tried to do it again, but I twisted his hand & threw him. We were both at a school bus when this happened. The teachers knew that he instigated the fight because he had a track record of starting fights & I didn't get in trouble for it. When I was on a computer I was pushed off. He was walking away, but went after him & then kicked him in the back. He didn't fall down, but it got his attention. I ended up getting a black eye, but I ended up choking the adams apple, and made it harder for him to breathe. He was complaining about it later on & a specific person didn't believe him, but then years later I admitted to actually doing. It wasn't a laptop. It was 1 of the old '03 or '04 Dell computers where they had .

Inviting someone into a delivery room is not like inviting someone to your wedding. It’s not ‘sure come on in and be part of this special moment with me’ it’s ‘I’m doing something hard and overwhelming and need to be surrounded only by those who will make it easier for me.’ You aren’t hosting anything and it should not be treated that way.
