The plaintiff says the defendant is her cousin, who she loaned money to help move into a house. She says her cousin never paid the rent and got evicted, plus she never reimbursed her for the loan, so she’s suing. The defendant claims the money was a gift, not a loan. She’s countersuing for stress and aggravation.

There's a reason why they're wealthy...they didn't attain that wealth by foolishly tossing $3k around here and there. And when they do generously hand out money it's usually for a tax write off. At least that's what Forbes has detailed in their reporting. But that's an entirely different class of wealthy people than what you may be referring to.

I cringe when I hear women state they’re a single mom 🙄 as if it’s a handicap. The defendant used and took advantage of the plaintiff. Her getting fired during training because she was dishonest “most likely on her application” clearly shows what type of person she is....shady and a liar. The defendant should be grateful and willing to pay her back. The plaintiff paid for her security deposit, rent and uhaul. She lost out on a kindhearted person who was willing to help her get ahead. She deserved to lose her job and her case. She’s highly ungrateful.

The defendant seem to have gotten aggravated about the plaintiff trying to manage her life and used that as an excuse not to pay! There’s no way I’d be comfortable allowing a relative to foot that kinda bill and not pay it back! Shameful

If they had an original agreement for her 2 pay back the money with her taxes as the plaintiff cousin testified, why would there suddenly be a text "asking" if when she received her taxes IF she could pay her back. I mean the judge is correct, she did reply, " absolutely. " But why would she be asking her 2 if that was what was originally agreed upon? It wasn't asked in a manner that was reaffirming the original agreement, like..." Are you still going 2 be able 2 pay me back when you get your taxes?" Or, "I will still need you 2 pay me back when your taxes come." It was very specifically asking,"Can you pay me back the money when you get your taxes?" That implies that there never was an agreement 2 do so prior...

I know people that become habitual borrowers - borrow from everybody that would be willing to give them a loan, then not pay them back. They become a big “DEBTOR” .

As a Retired Fraud Investigator, myself, i have to disagree with the Judge respectfully. It's NOT a coincidence that the Defendant switched her claim to the office for the Plaintiff worked. Stevie Wonder could see what's happening in that scenario. Nevertheless, her employer were JERKS because they should've waited for the final disposition of the Investigation of the claim in question before taking action, if any, regarding her employment!!!

I referred him to a few banks around the town . They are not talking to me anymore . I don’t care at all. Not loosing money for friends or relatives . The plaintiff should have done the same .

That whole business about her flashing her credentials is questionable. She counted on that ID to get her what she wanted, because if not for that, (If she had just produced a drivers license) the building manager would have shown her the door. My husband has worked Corrections for 30+ years, he'd lose his job if he did what she did. They need to add that to her investigation!

The defendant didn't represent herself very well. If she was telling the truth, it seems she would have mentioned in the beginning of her testimony that she would have never moved to FL in the first place knowing she couldn't afford the move on her own, or afford to repay her cousin back money to help her move; and it was only after she had already been there for 2 weeks when her cousin decided to ask for her money back. So, if she knew the gift was going to turn into a loan she wouldn't have ever moved. Because if the plaintiff wanted to be vindictive she could have asked her to start repayment as soon as she started working, but she gave her at least 6 months to pay her back.🤨 (I do think they are both lying a little bit, but the defendant is definitely in the wrong! Too bad this situation will probably mess their relationship up for ever!)😕
