I’m 71 yo African American from the Bronx. The neighborhood I grew up in had many different nationalities. I used to go to my Italian friend’s house after school sometimes to do homework together and her Nonna would make us these for an after school snack. OMG they were so delicious. She told my Mom how to make them and we would have them regularly. I in turn often made them for my sons’ breakfast. Now I make them for my grandchildren. They love them.

My Mom Would make me pepper and egg sandwiches for lunch when I was in high school. At first I was kind of embarrassed to eat it because I thought it was sort of low class food and my friends would make fun of me. However, they all started asking me for pieces of my sandwich and my mother started getting phone calls from my classmates mothers for her recipe. Turned out their PB and J sandwiches weren’t cutting it. Mom and I had some good laughs over it. Great memories for me. ❤❤😊

I loved this sandwiche as a kid, and I could never make it taste nearly as good as my mother's. The best bread from a Boston bakery made the sandwich. It had an excellent crust. I don't think that soft bread would stand a chance against it even though the Saprano guy used it in the show. I'm not sure they ever used it in real life though.
@FoodLovesCompany2 ай бұрын
@@Jimmyrig54 nothing like mamas cooking! The bread held up surprisingly very well and I ate it about half hour after filming. Then I made another one that stayed wrapped up in the fridge for the next day and it held up. Wasn’t the best but the sandwich was still intact and not crazy soggy. I was expecting to eat it with a knife and fork haha

With a lot of this sort of type, there are many that are very similar to the ones that were before them as we know very often that they make it up and then take others down the back of an alley and are truely unpleasant.
