Perfect Bends | New in Cubase 11

The Cubase key editor has been improved in Cubase 11, letting you create ramps and curves in the pitch bend lanes, in the same way as with automation. Drawing CC MIDI controllers in the key editor is simple, Bezier curves and bends can be drawn and quickly copied to the same or a completely different MIDI track. Excellent... a game changer for me... I didn't even know this feature existed... I've been doing all my bends manually from the controller.. usually with the range set to 2 semitones for fretless style bass lines... and its hit and miss, lol..... Many thanks ...

Hi Dom. This was a very interesting video and I thank very much for making and sharing your knowledge with us. I have noticed that you seem to love using Retrolouge for making a lot of your bass Line in your music. I enjoy you using it for that reason but, I stay away from Retrolouge because I get very very frustrated with it, due to it having so many buttons and slides to it. So I am asking that you do one or two things, when you are making future video and you use Retrolouge, will you please tell us what setting your are using in Retrolouge, so that we can try to duplicate the bass sounds that you are making in Retrolouge. Please, please. You use the Retrolouge bass sounds so easily and quickly that I can’t catch on. If I go directly to Retrolouge in my Cubase 12, I am completely lost from jump street. Now if you have do a video on using Retrolouge as bass instrument, please send me the name of the video. I would love to steal some of the Bass parts that you create using that instrument. One last thing, if you would send me or recommend so presets in Retrolouge, for making Bass note sounds, and tell us how to fine them, that would be much appreciated as well. Thanks for the nice video, very informative, but i am using an MPE keyboard (Roli Seaboard Rise 49) in adition to my "ordinary" keabord, and for the recording, no problem in cubase exept when editing the MPE (inside the Midi Editor window). It seems to be a conflict between cubase and the range of the Pitch Bend. The Seaboard has a range of 48 (standard), and reducing it to 12 doesn't help much because it becomes almost unusable. I found out that in Ableton live, it records perfectly and the Midi editing works great, without having to do anything in the setup. But i have been using Cubase for so many years now, and i love it, i just don't want to have to use another program just because of that issue. Is it something that i am missing here? in the setting up of Cubase for an MPE controller?

I know you wrote this a long time ago but for anyone reading, MPE is sent differently, per note. To edit this you have to right click on the note and choose note expression. However I have just been using ableton and the MPE editing is so much simpler, especially for pitch, it shows pitch related to the piano roll. Cubase needs to update this (I don't know what it's like in 13 but can't find anything to say it is improved)

I'm not sure what the proper answer is, but if you draw a line the old way then delete all of the points except the first and last, you get a curve

There's an answer below about how to edit using ramps, which is more to the point. But you can still fix it if you have all the little dots though. Its deceptive - first you have to drag around the range of dots and hit the delete key (Erase isn't working for me) and then draw a single node somewhere - you may be like me and think your "snap" setting is turned on... Turn on pencil and click a node into existence somewhere. You will probably have created a right-angle formation, which is fine. At this point you are closer than you think. Get used to using the key commands 1 and 8 (selector arrow and pencil) because when creating your nodes you probably want to press 8 for pencil, and left click to create some individual nodes - don't drag the pencil! When you have just several nodes, looking closely you will see that there will be little tiny node points, some of which are circles and others look more like squares (the ones you created should look more like squares). If you go back to the selection arrow (don't try this with the pencil) and drag that little circle up or down, you will create your first curve. (There are also tiny squares which are the actual nodes that you can create by left clicking. In summary, grabbing a circle and dragging it will produce a curve between the squares. )

Sussed it!! Open Midi Key Editor (either from the main menu or just look at your controller lanes at the bottom of midi panel) In the bottom left hand corner is an "down arrow" type menu opener (next to "+" symbol) Click this and select Type of New Controller Events and select "Ramp" JOB DONE :)

И что?!? Из обновления в обновления то и дело что добавляют расскраски, делают цветастее и все! Каких-либо новшеств нет. За что 9к за обнову?!?!? Эти функции уже давно есть в других прогах и бесплатно обновляются. Разочарован в Кубе... с 10 версии ничего путного не добавили.
