TBH: the 'evil stepsister' sounds like someone who is deeply insecure about the relationship her dad may have with the sisters. She doesn't know them and may feel like she's been replaced and is the outsider. It's a hard place to be in. :(

yeah tbh reading in between the lines of the depictions like "she was really disrespectful" sounds more like she's aloof and uncomfortable because she's clearly an outsider in this family dynamic

@@saruhhhh Immaturity isn’t necessarily bad, and it just sounds like immaturity all around. There’s also immaturity in not recognizing how hurt the “step sister” is and how her responses are likely out of that hurt and feeling out of place. Sure she may not need to be “rude” but the sisters also do not need to take it so personally if they were mature enough to recognize where it comes from. Really no one’s fault- except maybe any of the parents who are potentially not fostering enough of a secure relationship with and amongst their children. Hopefully everyone involved will be able to look back together and in clearer, more secure spaces.

As hard as it is for some to talk about, I really do believe a lot of peoples interests stem from their past experiences, their childhood and their trauma. Like the first girl they talked to, I really wanted them to ask about the relationship dynamics she saw growing up, and even her parents relationships. Because if someone loses interest once a relationship seems to be WORKING, it may be because it's unknown, and it's not a model of the relationships they are used to seeing in their life. I know it can be a heavy topic sometimes but I really do feel like a lot of it stems from our beliefs, experiences, childhood and what we feel is "safe and familiar".
@JoshMarshain
@JoshMarshain Жыл бұрын
10,000% correct, usually this kind of attraction to toxic people can stem directly from growing up in a toxic environment as an impressionable child, that kind of toxicity will become familiar and as an adult be the only thing that feels comfortable to them, as a proper healthy relationship would feel foreign and alien, allowing familiarity to cloud decision making ability. Another cause of a toxic childhood would be low self-esteem which could make her feel as if a toxic relationship is right or what she deserves. It could also make her a magnet to drama and instability, our parents and our childhood are the root of SO many common issues and an attraction to toxic partners is absolutely one of them, so maybe some advice to her should be to try and unpack what toxic personalities may have been present in her childhood and if maybe her parents weren't the best to her or the best examples for what healthy love looks like. Unpacking one's childhood can be a long and hard but often necessary thing to do, maybe she should seek professional help via therapy to help her on her journey to root out toxicity in her life.

I didn’t think it was clear that she was rude at all… I’ve been a teenaged girl recently, and look, these two girls only being able to come up with an example of her saying she doesn’t like the color pink when one of the girls has a pink bedroom is not a good sign for the two girls. I really imagine that they’re being over critical and looking to dislike her, when really, when someones in a tough situation, the thing to do is to be as nice as is reasonable. But even if not, there’s 0 reason to be mean or or rude or “give up” on someone because they don’t respond the way you want them to when you do something that you think is a kind gesture toward them. They might not even know you were going out of your way to “be nice”

To the person who likes a challenge/bad boys: This is likely a trauma response. You possibly grew up in an environment that was unstable so it is all you know how to survive in. Stability can feel "boring" because you are no longer in fight/flight, and fight/flight is what you are comfortable in. My advice to you would be to create/find pockets of stability in your day-to-day life that feel accessible and train yourself yourself to enjoy it. Just some ideas... e.g. you could intentionally create a wind-down routine after a work day that you enjoy (e.g. taking a long route on your walk home), it could help you notice that there is beauty/excitement in the everyday simple things of life too? e.g. you could look back and see if you have any friendships/family relationships that you have had for a long time and feel relatively stable and feel good. It is possible that you are already in a stable non-dating dynamic and if you enjoy that, it is possible you could enjoy a stable dynamic too?

First caller badly needs to go to actual therapy to deal with her low self esteem, commitment issues, insecurity and comfort with toxicity. She even referred to herself as a red flag. The only way she will stop being a red flag and turn things around is if she unpacks the root of all these issues head on, her childhood. Until then I'm afraid she'll be a bit of a red flag and a non option for anyone good for her or anyone looking for lasting love, shouldn't even be dating (referring to dating for real lasting romance and not just hooking up) until she begins to resolve this mess, she's not ready yet and that's okay
