My cousin died when I was 3 and he was 4 from Leukemia. My first memories include making rooster combs out of the gloves in the hospital and picking wild flowers in the cemetery to put on the tomb the day we buried my cousin. I think the type of grief I experienced was slightly unique because lots of my memories with him were not recorded in my brain but my body and soul remembered his life and the love I had for him. I spent 22 years holding the grief until I wrote a monologue about the impact cancer has had on my life (several family members with cancer) and I was finally able to put to words the hurt my body felt by losing my first bestfriend.

this was an awesome episode. I think that losing a sibling when you are young changes you. I lost my brother when I was 16. He was 19. The circumstances of his death were very different from Michael and Miles' brothers, but I think the loss itself is what changes one. I believe that people who have been through this easily bond with each other. My closest friend and I bonded the moment that we both realised that we lost a sibling under similar circumstances. I think people need to talk about grief as a part of life more. Being vulnerable is scary, but leads to wonderful new friendships. Love and respect.
