Those who say that this isn't music, it is. You may not like it but that doesn't give you the right to say it isn't music. It is much faster than most music and takes a lot more practice than just pop, funk, and maybe jazz.
@jmetalskinz12 жыл бұрын
It's not just about speed with Kollias. You can compare him with damn near any death metal drummer of the same skill set and you won't find many that can play with the consistent power, precision, and flawlessness that this this man has! He is the fuckin man!
@etherianfields74869 жыл бұрын
I play a lot of fusion and jazz. This is where I'd normally cut the guy down for playing blast beats and monotonous nonsense like most of the metal guys. Not with this guy. He's got technique and I've seen him do crazy good stuff in other genres and styles. He's just plain awesome.
@brandoncannady38606 жыл бұрын
Etherian fields very well said coming from another drummer....Kollias is not "God like" he is a God indeed.

Its the athletic ability George plays all types of music but hes known for his footwork. Dont under estimate him he has great hands as well hes got the finger technique down pact. He's played Jazz Funk Fusion Latin even Greek venues

@superjanembaishappy55124 жыл бұрын
I would correct you saying that Death Metal drummers are pretty monotonous BUT that doesn't mean Death metal drumming is like that. I think most people say it's monotonous not in the sense that's it's not complicated but that it lacks dynamics. Playing very fast is impressive for sure but if you're just blast-beating your way through the song without changing or adapting to the melody, it gets boring. Kollias is, among many others drummers, a good example of what Death metal drums should sound like.

So how often do you get to see a metronome struggle to keep up? Thought so.
@JUdrums12 жыл бұрын
yes it is. ive seen him live.
@tompelach484211 жыл бұрын
the fact that he is playing that fast is very impressive, but what is more impressive is the stamina he has for playing that fast. That shit is fucking ridiculous.
@TomIsDrinkingWater12 жыл бұрын
that is not because he is so fast, its because he applies pressure on the sticks with his fingers and its kind of bouncing better and faster, its a snare drumming technique.
@LastGhost112 жыл бұрын
George Kollias has unique legs. That's priceless!!
@MakeandJary11 жыл бұрын
His kit would take a lot longer to mic, the techs would have to be absurdly aware of airflow in the room and around the bass drum, and it may still sound muddy anyway. It's just more convenient to use triggers to clear the sound up. If you don't think he isn't hitting the drum hard, or isn't absurdly accurate, I don't know what to tell you.

Hi guys, take a look in GKDrummer chanell, there is no mistakes on the Kollias performance, Hi is a complete musician, he plays jazz in one video in his channel, an he has others performances in others styles on youtube. In the beginning, he says, he has interest only in death metal, but now he improved his skils in all styles. Remember Derek Roady plays like kollias an he is jazz drummer.

I don't think that's the right sort of attitude to have toward music. Any musician can put the same amount of practice into their style, whatever it may be, and end up at this sort of skill level but in vastly different ways. A metal drummer that's put in 1000 hours of work will have more consistency, power and endurance than someone that's put that effort into jazz, who'll have better touch and sense of improvisation, but who won't be able to lock into a groove like a veteran funk drummer.

@johndoe-bw6pj9 жыл бұрын
Louis Gervais No one can deny the hours spent practicing. As a drummer I can understand the effort behind all this and I admire Kollias for that. As a whole, Nile (to me at least) are monotonous and boring. He is a drum go it's just that everything sounds like gunfire. That's all I'm saying...
