Just blind bought a full bottle. Not something I do often but your review really left an impression on me. I can say that I am in love with this. I will thoroughly enjoy my bottle this spring and summer. I really get a leading grapefruit note, slightly fizzy and slightly bitter that is possibly supported by that metallic note. Reminiscent of the dirty orange in terre EDT, but not the same at all. But what makes it for me is the soft, slightly sweet floral notes that balance it all. It is green, but I do not think overtly green. It has that distinct petrichor you get from Terre in the background, but it is much more watery, if that makes sense. Never feels dirty, instead, mineral. Thank you Mr P!

Ok i didn't say that 😁, but i was excited to try it. Pity the poor translators who have to translate this stuff into their native English. Members of my family translate for a living and I’ve helped with similar briefs in an art context of French to English. There is a whole level of language use and meaning that is very purple seeming to a native English speaker that is endemic in French art writing and presumably perfume writing too.

Reminds me of 1) the packaging (I cannot remember the actual scent) of Kenneth Cole Reaction and, 2) from an olfactory perspective Le Jardin de Monsieur Li by Hermes. It drys down very sweet. I feel that a little vetiver or something to dry it/mature it up a bit would be very nice - my assumption is that that is exactly what will happen with the EDP version that is sure to be coming. Having said that this, it is a nice scent, it is unique in that it seems to touch across categories and yet not landing firmly in any at all.

Finally tried this today at Nordstrom in downtown Toronto a.k.a. bland, soulless corporate village. Tested on wrist, and loving it. Fresh-green with a hint of "nugere"-ish vibe, reminiscent of fresh green scents and aftershaves from the 90s, particularly Gillette Cool Wave. Maybe this is similar to some generic freshie from Kenneth Cole 20 years ago, but this is a top notch execution of that idea. Interesting balance - green but without any bitterness, sharpness, piercing quality, herbal attribute or mildew element. A bit of sweetness in the dry-down, but very restrained. Very much androgynous; the dry-down is halfway between woody and musky. One of the best mainstream masculines in years, and the best from Hermes since Equipage Geranium. I think this will be the most significant release since Dior Homme. The only drawback I can sense is that this isn't a novel accord like Dior Homme was. A brilliant idea to revisit this style and reinterpret it through contemporary olfactory lens. Green is the new blue? Or, to paraphrase Bill Evans, is this Blue in Green? One could think of it as a modern update to something like Homme de Gres, or even Eau Sauvage. And this might be a sacrilege - but something in the dry-down reminds me of the dry-down of Givenchy Insense. Vent Vert? My memory is very vague there, having tried it only once, and can't even remember now if that was the vintage or not. The name and the bottle might be futuristic, but if I forget those and the notes/materials - make no mistake, this is dripping in 90s nostalgia - in the best possible way. Obviously this is no Kouros or Fahrenheit, but those days are gone. Congratulations to Christine Nagel on a truly landmark release. I hope it does well with guys - and gals. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Honestly I'm disappointed .... when are we getting Bleu d'Hermes or Sauvage à la Hermes?

Thanks for watching and for taking the time to leave such a wonderfully detailed comment. I’m pleased you found something to enjoy in the scent.
@angelinegiselle3 жыл бұрын
growing up in singapore means no exposure to most ingredients used in perfume especially flowers and plants. it’s also the reason « old fashioned », « old lady » and violets have no meaning or relation & i love these violet & iris scents. we have no violets, and perfume in general was non-existant in much of asia until recently. all this just to say it’s impossible to imagine what this smells like since i have zero scent reference to the notes here, but the FIRST thlng i noticed from the start of the video is the gorgeous bouquet !! 💚 notes that i like are mostly learnt through seeing what pops up frequently in perfumes i like that smell similar & over time through discussions with those who know, and reviews. hooray indeed for the absence of woody ambery notes !! i’m sad to say that CN sort of halted my love for hermès with citron noir and then lagune. i do like twilly but feel that the marketing of it was kind of a mistake. anyway, your late 90s references kept making me think of gucci envy for men which i loved - is it anywhere near ?! soft, clean, a little sweet... H24 bottle can easily be a CK one flanker - i’m not a huge fan to be honest, although bottle design doesn’t really matter too much to me & would never factor in my decision on whether or not to like or buy the fragrance. that said, your descriptions seem to point to H24 as a very well blended creation with nothing sharp so i wonder if an angular bottle fits the scent profile... i hope to catch you live soon (if it doesn’t clash with my bedtime !!) & DEFINITELY for uncle serge !! i’ll set an alarm for that even if it’s 3am 😄

Thanks for this wonderful comment, Angeline. It didn’t instantly make me think of Envy For Men, although I do recall that had a sage note, didn’t it? I think it was much heavier on ginger, though. I should dig out my old bottle. Fascinating reading your words about growing up in Singapore.

Bravo to Hermes for maintaining the aura of exclusivity and great quality of their house by taking their time and doing what they consider the right next thing! I was wondering as well if it worked in the same way in French. Until I get the chance to ask someone French....
@L-Ondee3 жыл бұрын
Now this has turned into an amazing insight into French culture. I contacted 2 friends (one male, one female) in France and they were convinced H24 had absolutely nothing to do with H2O. The fascinating thing was that both were well aware the H was for Hermes (bien-sûr) and 24 stands for the 24 hours of the day as well as Hermes' address at 24 Faubourg. Knowing that neither of them is the typical Vogue reader I am amazed about how seriously perfume releases must be taken in France, probably especially when it comes to a house like Hermes. How does Hermes do it? Are they in every newspaper and all over other media? Of course it could be a coincidence, but it would strike me to be a weird one considering how different in most things these two lovely people are. In the end I have come to the conclusion that it is their loveliness that makes them know about Hermes !

@Persolaise3 жыл бұрын
Cole, nobody who asks questions is an idiot! ‘Woody amber’ is a general name given to a category of ingredients that present the characteristics of both woods and ambers. In recent years, many of the ones that have become popular possess an extremely dominating, hard-hitting and, to my nose, abrasive personality. Many mainstream modern masculines rely on them for their impact. They’re a prominent component of Nagel’s own Eau De Citron Noir.

Curious, is this soapy quality coming from the combination of the narcissus and the molecule's steam feature? I'm imagining sort of a warm amber soap quality juxtaposed against this green aspect. Anyways, sounds like something I will be buying. It sounds like something Francis Kurkdjian would maybe do. I sort of get a clean soapy floral with the green notes but modern ambery woods in L'homme a la Rose

You could be right about the soapy note. It feels like some kind of gently floral musk. Many thanks for watching.

Hey persolaise can i ask you something, between this H24 and Issey miyake l’eau d issey pour homme wich one is better for a fresh scent, im contemplating

The final choice must be up to you, but I’d go for H24 personally, as it’s not as sharp as the Issey Miyake.

After not liking Sur La Lagune and finding L'Ombre des Merveilles to be disgusting, I'm really not looking forward to this one. But, I might just get it to celebrate a designer men's release that is not Bleu de Chanel. 😅Thanks for the review!

@@Persolaise Tried it today. The Narcissus is lovely and after a while I get the steam, which is a fairly unusual note. Will purchase a bottle next week when it's officially released.
