Elena I am little curious about computer skills required for banking advisor role. And other soft skills. Is there any specific softwares required to use on daily basis , also word,excel, powerpoint. Excellent advice, but an advisor or private banker and personal banker are different positions. A financial advisor or private banker (private wealth) are FINRA licensed to sell securities such as investment products and insurance. Personal bankers work on building the relationship and growing a client’s banking products within the bank.

Thanks for you comment Melissa, some banks here actually call advisor “personal bankers” and some banks call the same position “banking advisor”. Yes financial advisor is different tho, that’s correct (:

Cities, states, and countries are different. Shouldn’t correct someone in a demographic you’re unfamiliar with. & if you want to be super critical most banking staff can be considerably a financial coach

You need to have a license in order to get a relationship banker position or you don't need it if you get promoted internally from a teller position ? I believe some security and exchange license or FINRA license u need to get before working as an advisor here in USA 🤔

Hi Imran - Yes you need a license to be promoted. It’s called CSC licence here.

Thanks a lot, your guidance has been very helpful. I just have two questions regarding teller job.1.) do banks do a credit check for teller positions ? How strict is that spl in today’s COVID-19 situation. I have no debt or loans and I’ve always paid at least the minimum 2ndly is reference always required for teller positions?? I have a post graduation in Global Business Management and some CSR in a food chain and IFC. Will I always still need a reference for the role? Many thanks in advance.

Hey @Running Erin’s - So for any position at the bank (including teller), they usually do a full background check. The background check includes criminal records and employment references. References is always checked based on your resume. If you don’t want them to check a specific reference, you can avoid including that in your resume. I hope that helps (:

Yes, either one of those licences are required for advisors. However, most banks give you a time period to complete it after getting the job.
