Thank you very much Dr. Ali. This video has changed my life. Every person who is obese and needs to lose weight should watch this video. I could not figure out why I could jog 15 miles a week and not lose weight. I am now living a low carb lifestyle and have lost 25 lbs. so far. I find it shocking that I see my doctor and he has not shared this information with me as a patient. Instead he makes me feel like it's my fault for not understanding why I couldn't lose weight and puts me on a statin. If I lived in the Houston area, I would become a patient. Thanks again.

I subscribe to almost all the channels that advocate a low carb lifestyle. I am a science junkie and can understand it all. The problem is that when I go to my doctor, he is dumbfounded. Too much information with scientific studies to back it up. I have changed doctors countless times due to their inability to be open-minded. I know the exact tests I want and explain it to them. I had to convince a cardiologist that a CAC test is the first thing I needed and then we go from there. The standard cholesterol tests are not good enough. I ask for one that breaks down the LDL. I cured my fatty liver by cutting out carbs. All my doctor said was "eat a healthy diet". That was it. No further guidance. I am surprised I did not find Dr. Ali sooner. His explanations are far superior to the layman who is not a science geek. Short of tying my mother down to force her to watch his videos, I threatened her that I would take away her tv rabbit ears if she did not watch them. She is 78 and suffers from so many ailments that are due to inflammation. She watched and now is slowly converting her diet to a more fat-based one. Thank goodness she is a natural intermediate faster without realizing it. She never eats before noon. I will be going with her to her cardiologist and insisting her statin is reduced and then ultimately eliminated as the inflammation is reduced in her body. I now carry small cards with Dr. Ali's name and tell people to watch his videos since his presentations are to the point and can be comprehended by everyone with studies to back up what he says. I tell them it is like going to see your doctor but instead of a 10 minute visit, you get hours of information that can change your life and if you do not get something, you can always view again. Thank you Dr. Ali for your wonderful videos. I am spreading the word.

Please keep the doctors that you have, and keep trying to have those conversations with them. Yes, we are the Low Carb Community but if we don't have those conversations with those other doctors, then who will? Think about all the patients, the first time Dr. Ali told them to stop eating carbs and eat good quality fats. There are some patients that flat out refused for years. And Dr. Ali would always say to several of them, "I respect your thoughts and decisions on not wanting to try our lifestyle changes, but May I tell you one thing?", then he would give them an overview on what he things would help then nutrition-wise. And my favorite is this one: ' If you were to take these cholesterol numbers to 100 other cardiologists in the area, 99% of them would put you on a statin. I am biased though" :) So overall what we are trying to say is have those respectful conversations with the physicians around you and have respectful and open discussions. YOU, the patients, have to be an advocate for your health and our community. …. . . Thanks for reading my long reply. :)

But I've list 65 lbs this last 11 months (keto and IF), dropped my A1C from pre-diabetic to low normal, my other labs are great, and I feel fabulous. Hiked a mountain, and ran a 5K obstacle course. Yet all he focuses on is that elevated LDL. I told him that his info is outdated, but he supports the standard dogma, refusing to research further.

No, stick with the physician. Keep the conversations going. Keep it respectful and share the videos. You have to be the advocate for yourself. Let your physicians know that you are willing to see his data and his research. Ask him to do a CT Calcium Score. And finally, ask him to explain to you what the functions of LDL cholesterol are, when it is of good quality. If he can’t answer, have a piece of paper with our KZbin link on it and leave it for him. If he is willing to give you current research and facts. Then make an educated decision together.

As always, I love Dr. Nadir's presentations. Fat burning may be the efficient way like Nuclear Vs. Solar energy. Fat is a readily available energy source without much effort for conversion. The human body presents 3 choices. 1. Entirely carbs 2. Entirely Meat, 3. A mix of both. The question is... What happens when a perfectly healthy person eats only limited carbs-vegetarian un-processed clean food, and not overeat? on a regular basis. Those people should be perfectly healthy with no disease as well. Who cares about efficiency? I understand Dr. Nadir is only interested in Fat thresholds and not necessarily going in other ways of healthy living. Any Comments are most welcome!. I agree with many comments here, especially with all other health issues of over-weight, and other health diseases, fat eating may be a good choice, but not necessarily is the only way.. But I think, most importantly, going on regular fasting mode ( like 18 Hour x 6 Hour, OR 24-36 Hour fasting ) should help the body simulate the natural living conditions like famine, drought etc.,, and help cleanup the extra stored fat and help repair the body tissues. Fasting is a natural way humans and animals have evolved over millennia. More than what natural un-processed food you choose to eat, I think, learning not to overeat on a daily basis, and also learn to mimic drought, and famine conditions should be the way of life for achieving optimum health!

Mark 33:02 Excellent point omitted from all keto advocates on KZbin, Dr. Ali has pointing out a link to a side effect decease, the inguinal hernia. While transitioning from burning carb to fat, our body can’t burn fat in a short notice, and are forced to burn sugar out of depleted muscle, including muscles to hold back our small intestine. Happens most probably during heavy weight lifting, falling on our bud or fighting with constipation.

Check out the InBody site including testimonials by doctors and fitness gyms. The Mayo Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic, John Hopkins, Boston Children's, Stanford, and Yale are using InBody devices. Cincinnati Children's Hospital has integrated InBody devices into their standard procedure and consider it an indispensible tool. Dr. Richard Isaacson, neurologist and director of the Alzheimer's Prevention Clinic at Weill Cornell Medical College, uses the Inbody with every patient. Dr. Misra, a medical director at Premise Health in San Francisco, says InBody is fast and non-invasive, and "is a great tool to give patient feedback and it helps the practitioner optimize their patient’s internal medicine issues." He finds it ideal for his high-volume, busy practice. BIA should be more widely used.

Hello sir.. I am nadira, 36yrs old. I need some advice on my recent blood works from you that indicates my total cholesterol 236 - LDL 180, hdl 35, triglycerides 91. I should add too that I was on vitamin D2 50k IU supplements for last 6months as it was very low below 11 and on the recent blood work vit D level had come up to 36. I also used to take high blood pressure meds before but I am trying to quit that cause after doing Keto my average BP now is 72/110 without taking meds. Now my doctor said I am on high risk for heart attack and he prescribed me Atorvastatin 20mg per day. So I told him I was doing Low carb for last around 3 months but before blood work I was on a trip for 2 weeks and couldn’t stick on to my diet. Told him I am starting keto again and dont wana be on statin. He scared me saying that I can not do Keto with this high LDL or I can have heart attack.I must not eat this much fat. 😐😐 Since I was not ready, I did not argue anymore. I was due to all these research having done before I speak for myself. Btw I did not buy my meds. I have started keto again. I have blood work coming up on February 1st. So here I am earnestly requesting your advice on my stand sir, should I continue Keto or should I go ahead follow my doctor’s advice?

Check out (among a plethora of other sources) the recent podcast with paul saladino and ivor Cummins. They will explain why looking at your hdl and triglicerydes scores is a lot more representative for health then LDL score. This guy also has a video mentioning it but im not sure anymore which one

Nadira N C look for a cholesterol ratio calculator thru Google. It will explain how to understand your lipid readings. Keep your keto diet and track your intake. Basic ratios are percentages of 5:25:70 carbs:protein:fats. Look for a free carb tracking app to create a macro for you. Don’t cheat on a metabolic diet, that will backfire on you. Commit to it. Your doctor is not up to date.

Are you taking D2 And you aren't taking D3 switch to D3? Then have your blood levels retested so that you are on an optimal amount for your own body.

Found your page and am thankful for the information that you share. With your understanding of eating fat what would you think would cause BP to elevate when starting a ketogenic way of eating. Going into the new way of eating I was over 100 lbs overweight but all of my bloodwork and ekg results were within normal range and my BP averaged 124/76, without any meds; now my BP averages 155/60 with meds. The weight loss clinic doctors think it's from the kidney but all tests are good... my family doctor feels it's more of a metabolic issue. I'm just concerned and confused. Any thoughts?

Excellent explanation with scientific support (MRI, mouse models/human examples, biochemistry). It's getting through to the medical community. My primary did not put me on statins even though LDL 163 (total 289). My Dr. advised to eat less fat and increase exercise and he knows I'm on low carb high fat. Confusing results after 6 months Keto diet. AIC improved as expected but TG increased which is concerning! 6 month results: total cholesterol 289 (inc. from 242) A1C: 5.4 (was 5.6%) TG 68 (was 56) LDL 163 (was121) HDL 112 (was 102) Weight loss: 0-3 pounds (thin frame, exercise daily) WHAT direction should I take with Increased TG? Q: Wondering if keto only works for only those with middle/fat? Q: did my LDL increase because I did not fast and/or whether my fat intake was higher than my fuel burning ability which means I'm storing fat into blood vessels/viscera? Anyone gone through this?

Your TG are great, way under 100. HDL is awesome. These are what matter. Sometimes LDL increases on keto diet most likely the big fluffy LDL particles but can't PROVE that without an NMR test which is not necessary for most people. There are people who are called lean mass hyperresponders whose LDL goes up really high on keto. Dave Feldman is a citizen scientist who has website cholesterolcode.com and multiple you tube lectures and interviews about cholesterol. Also Dr. Paul Mason has lecture about cholesterol that is really good.
