My mom used to be fashionista in her 20s, 30s and 40s, and then she kind of lacked her unique style for a while because of some life difficulties, or just didn't prioritize that (what is totally ok). She is now 61 and suddenly deep dives into finding her own style again and building a cohesive wardrobe. What a change in how she present her beautiful personality!

36, never married, no kids. I can definitely tell my style changed to a more elegant side in the last few years, even though my body stayed the same, and I attribute those changes to a higher position at work and overall increase in maturity. I love fashion since I was a child, so I stilli keep an eye on trends, without overly clinging to them. At the same time, I can't say I've experienced any radical changes of the wardrobe at the same time - for me, minimalism is the way to go, and what makes a difference at this point is switching to better cuts, materials and lenghts of the skirts. Funnily, we had a discussion on this with a friend just a couple of days ago-she is a new mom, and she told me that she started leaning towards elegance after the body changes due to giving birth. However, both of us feel like "sexy" does not represent us anymore (not really sure if it ever did, even with all the minis and stuff 10y ago), as we finally feel our personal power.

I truly don't think I knew myself until I was in my late 40s or early 50s. I was influenced by friends, trends, magazines, etc. It was like a burden was lifted after I took a course on color, personality, body shape which most importantly it covered neck length. I have a short neck and after that class, I no longer bought turtleneck anything and realized that was why I was very often displeased with my purchases because they didn't suit my body. Fabrics are covered showing that bulky heavy fabrics are burdensome and unflattering on someone 5'4" because they are overwhelming. I finally found myself in that fabulous 3 day course. There were lots of videos showing celebrities who were similar to each of us and what happened when they wore the right clothes and the wrong clothes. That class has saved me so much money over the years and I thank her daily. There was so much more to her class, shape and color (gold or silver) jewelry for our face shape. I never knew any of that was important in the total picture of who we are. Loved that class!

Thank you, this video comes right on time ! I am 38 and since last year I am in a style crisis with my wardrobe. I am slowly realising that I have come to a time in my life when do not feel the deep-set need to prove myself anymore. I don't feel that need to show that I am confident in my skin, that I am ok with who I am and what I look like. As a consequence, I am rediscovering my wardrobe with a fresh look and I don't like what I see. It reflects who I wanted me to be so hard, my expectations for myself. I think I have met those self-expectations and now that I really feel calmer and cozier with myself, more in tune with who I really am, those clothes feel almost grotesque. Strange. Maybe I am finally coming to terms with the idea to dress like myself, not to dress what inspires me... Anyway... I did not have a clue to understand all this wardrobe drama until your video ^^.

I'm 45 and I just went through a career change, from entrepreneur to civil servant, and a style change, from business & chic (so many networking parties...) to business-casual. The second-hand shop was very happy to take my blazers and pencil skirts, bodycon dresses and high heels, and I am now very happy in long blouses with a belt over pants and flat shoes. No more pantyhose! :-) I feel this style really suits my life now.

My style has changed over the years by slowly learning to stick to what suits my body type. Shape & fit is everything. Then color next! I'm getting a bit more experimental with age too because I care less about what others think of me as far as what I look like.

Hi Daria, you explain things so well, thank you! In my 20s I was a very poor artist living in my warehouse studio, so it was a struggle finding anything to wear that wasn't paint-covered, haha! Black was a staple for gallery receptions. Then thrifting was a necessity, now it's a treat. Two decades later, I'm more confident about my style. I can afford better quality materials and like creative cuts and designs, and am more conscious of properly caring for my clothes and sustainability.

Dear Daria. I know what i like and need but my big problem is finding good quality classic clothes and good fabrics these days... by the way i am 81 lol... but more than ever i want to look the best i can.. our body shape changes with age also which make it harder. Most clothes seem to be suited to young people.. us mature ladies cant wear sleeveless or wide low necklines. Love you channel.x

I hated shopping and clothing so much until I went away to college. I was raised in a really preppy suburb where everyone dressed the same. I not only didn't like this style, but I didn't like how it looked on me. When I got to college and saw people dressing in all sorts of styles, I started to explore what *I* liked. It turns out I absolutely love patterns (more than one at a time), bright colors, and vintage clothing. That remains the same to this day. However around age 21 my body dramatically changed because of medication, which triggered an eating disorder. Now I still like the same general things, but I've had to become re-acquainted with myself and don't feel as comfortable in certain fits. I'm still coming to terms with this.

I'm about to turn 60, and enjoy your videos and insights, thank you, as I look back I see many evolutions in my wardrobe ( and in my life as well), but I still have some classic items in my wardrobe that I made in my 40's that still work today with other newer items. Keep up your fabulous work Daria, much appreciated.

Great video! I am 29 now. So far, I have experienced two major style crises. At first I did not really have a style. This changed when I got my first job at the university as a student assistant. I chose colorful blouses and jeans mostly. Now I am changing careers and working as a business consultant. I threw most stuff out of the closet (except some pieces that I really love) and now I am going for more pastel tones and classy blouses and pullovers as well as elegant trousers. I love this style!

I’m not experimenting with colour anymore, I know what suits me better and that’s what I wear regardless of what fashion trends say. Another thing has been elastic waistbands, I don’t like to feel tight around my belly and I like my clothes to give me some flexibility with weight changes so that’s a must have for anything new coming to my wardrobe. Thanks so much for all your videos 🙏🏼

To answer your question, my style changed along with my career change. Since I spend most of my time at work, my wardrobe is mainly comprised of what I wear at work. And I tune my clothes to the unwritten office dress code. When I worked in the financial industry, I wore crisp shirts and skirts/pants. Now I work in the tech industry, I wear T shirts and jeans.

I consider myself goth. Of course this is not a fashion, more a lifestyle. When I was younger I dressed completely in black, experimenting with the many sub goth cultures. Now turned 30 i still have the goth edge just experiment more with colour and it's more of a sophisticated edge and also comfortable... I'm glad I found you because I didn't know how to mix the goth aspect with a classic wardrobe even though there is 'corporate goth fashion' it's too business for me.

I've had the same style since my 20's. The only time i was experiencing it was in my teenage years. Ellegant. With a pinch of casual as well. That means that i own jeans and 3 pairs of snickers:-))) that i wear mostly with shirts. I wear the same classical cuts and the same colors.

hmmm. interesting. I'm in my mid-40s. I would say that it's not so much that my style has 'changed' but that it goes through circular or spiral-shaped phases. I'm currently wearing bermuda shorts I had as a teenager, and also enjoying wearing some beautifully cut pieces I kept from the 90's, when I was in my 20's. And a lot of what I buy now is stuff that i imagined or dreamed as a 20-something, but either it didn't exist then (e.g. many of the romantic ruffled blouses and dresses I have from companies like Christy Dawn and DOEN) or I couldn't afford it. Maybe I'm different in that way, I don't know.

Yes, I believe what you're saying. I think that my style has changed over the years through the activities that I do. When I was in my athletic sporty phase - I enjoyed dressing like I was healthy and athletic. I would dressy country-style & (kind of grubby) when at the cottage. I also went through a boho phases after returning from vacation in California. I also find sometimes I dress like the people at work. I know this sounds crazy and mind-boggling but I enjoy it that way. Keeps me from getting bored.

First of all, I wanted to thank you for all the inspiring videos and topics you always brought up in the past. I really enjoy watching them and learning more about combinations, colours, different types of style and so on. Well, I am a student, 27 years old and it is not that far away, when I used to pay no special attention to my outfits, my style, hair or the colours that I was wearing that time. I started to pay attention to these things, when I noticed, that I feel a lot better, if I style myself with more effort, looking more chic or elegant than before. And then other people treated me differently too, that was a suprising effext to me, because I always thought here in germany, the style is not interesting at all, not important to others. I started my capsule wardrobe project in summer 2018, I think. At first I thought I would spend more money and get poor sometimes, when always ivesting in good Quality clothes (fo example from LANIUS or hessnatur). But now I am feeling less stressed out, when it comes to combine clothes or bags, make up and so on and it is worth it, because it really makes life easier! Many greetings from Düsseldorf-Benrath! :) Take care! Bye!

Hi Daria I loved this video as you so well pointed out how our style changes as we change. I work with women typically over 50 and so many feel that have lost their style and don't know how to dress any more. I think once we retire from working a job where you knew your style then are home it is a hard transition. Thanks Daria - have a wonderful day xo Jacqueline

Love your channel. I am 54 and can say my style has definitely moved through similar stages not just because of age but also as my career has evolved and I have moved up the career ladder. In my teens and through my early 20s, my style was mix of boho and classic/casual. In my mid 20s and 30s my style moved to more sophisticated classic as my career wardrobe was critical and corporate focused with casual at home and with kids. In my 40s it moved more towards business casual with some creative flare to spice it up as I like to express my style with interesting blazers and colors with classic shirts. I experimented with different trendier pants and shoes (boots). Now I am trying to cull down my wardrobe that feels too big as I want to simplify my extremely hectic lifestyle but want to still have interesting pieces that are flexible enough for work and weekends. It’s a work in progress.

Thanks Daria for this video and for your advice! In my 20's I felt really good in the romantic styles and I think it was the first time I was aligned with my wardrobe. Dear Daria , I very much enjoy your videos so thank you. I am in my 60s and love to dress well. I take exception to the notion that women over 40 just dress for comfort. Some do, and it shows. Many others have just developed a deeper understanding of body shape and style and they dress accordingly. If clothing fits well and suits you, it is comfortable by definition.

Im just learning about you Daria, and appreciate your timely advice and creativity. I am a 55 year old and very much in a flux right now. I have been for the last 5 years, feeling quite low. My hair has turned grey, and I am very confused about my color palette (Im a warm autumn with skin and eyes) but now feel like a ghost. I was an art student and am a creative person, but feel like I don't express any of my creativity in how I dress. Im not in a position to afford your courses, but like to try to glean what I can from your youtube videos. Im also very petite and find I just look ridiculous now....like a tiny little child, without curves or femininity. Very sad.

My style has changed in how much I know what works for me within my personal taste. I know what flatters my lines more specifically. I've always liked a lot of styles and variety but now I understand it's more about fit and lines than the way the garment looks off of me. How it feels on. I'm 32 and I can say I appreciate simplicity quite a bit more, and ease which translates to more elegant.

I'm 26 and would say my style hasn't evolved much yet. 😅 I find it very hard to find beautiful yet comfortable clothes also since I don't want to look too sexy / wear really short clothes but most of what is offered are so short. Another point is that I don't want to throw out all the clothes that are still good yet not exactly the style I want to evolve. Plus the financial factor. Any pieces of advice?

It’s odd, for me it was mixed...in my 20’s I was goth and covered up head to toe black...I didn’t follow trends or want sexiness...after 40 I still wear black for sophistication but I have an artist soul and I discovered color! Now I mix sexy with hand made rainbow funky touches or vintage pieces with black...and I love being my own weird self even if it’s tacky! 😃❤️👍🤩💃🏻👗👠

I am 48 and have changed styles over the years a lot. I worked in my twentys with people who where 30 years older than me and I had to apapt a style of that was powerful and perhaps not so youthful. I have a classic style but really like color so right now it's a great deal of that in my wardrobe. The thing with getting older is the my color of my skin and hair has changed I don't where navy blue until I was 45 then my skin color changed and I could wear it.

Hey Daria, you´ve made a great video again! YAY! I´ve always liked a minimal wardrobe like the brand Filippa K. In my teenage years it was black skinny jeans and a white/black tshirt. In my mid 20ies I got a bit bored of it. Because of your videos Ive learned to incorporate colors to suit my olive colored skintone, and I learned to dress classic and minimal without feeling bored. And that minimal classic dressing dont necessarily have to be boring.
