Came a long way since that time. My next one has 13hp engine, suspension, and changed to lever braking. Thanks for watching and your kind comment!
@Personal_Track_Vehicle6 жыл бұрын
It has a differential axle with brakes on each side so when you brake one side, the other axle (and track) keeps turning. Some of my early videos show more details.
@prancstaman7 жыл бұрын
You got it going pretty good. Looks pretty reliable too for the trip you are going to be taking with it.
@Personal_Track_Vehicle7 жыл бұрын
Reliability is really the key for long distance, coast-to-coast trip. I don't have to go real fast, just real far! I will be building an entire new frame, properly welded and gusseted for strength. In addition, I will be pulling a small, custom built trailer with supplies so there are a lot of things to consider.

Do you have a part number for the tracks you used? also the gear that fits into them. I am having a hard time finding the right size tracks.
@Personal_Track_Vehicle7 жыл бұрын
The tracks are 180X60X39. Most any track supplier can help you from there. Summit LLC was my source. the sprockets were tricky because I had to copy the exact configuration from the Honda powered wheelbarrow. Then I had a machine shop cut them out of 1" steel which I then shaped. The shop probably still has the measurements. It was like eighty bucks for both.
@Personal_Track_Vehicle7 жыл бұрын
Both sprockets, that is.

Congratulations, very nice job! Im planning on doing the same but with an atv (2 tracks only), do you have a detailed build up on your videos? Also how do you lock the differential when a track is stuck and the other one runs free? Thanks for your comments
@Personal_Track_Vehicle6 жыл бұрын
Carlos David Galarza It's all in the Peerless differential that runs within six pillow block bearings. The whole unit is driven by a sprocket mounted on the "pumpkin" as some might refer to it. As it turns, the axles both turn equally, and you go straight. When one brake is activated, it slows that axle but the "pumpkin" and other axle continues to rotate, thus it turns. Hope that helps. As far as plans, I am pretty close to building a new one, and I will go step by step from the ground up and offer material descriptions and measurements. Stay tuned!

Really like the design are you offering plans for it i really want to get something like this going but don't need speed i would like it to run 10mph and have enough torque to pull a small trailer
@Personal_Track_Vehicle7 жыл бұрын
I found the original gearing I had was 11 mph and it had great pulling power. I want to be able to have good top speed for a very long distance trip I am planning, as well as good low end for turning. I too, wish to pull a trailer on my cross country trip.
@TTGLL7 жыл бұрын
cwzwartewoude hey again. what is the track length you have on the ground? i was thinking 16:1 for the final drive ratio that wound be 144 ftlbs of torque at 2500rpm but my mph would be in the 5mph range i think.
@Personal_Track_Vehicle7 жыл бұрын
The actual "footprint" is 30", that part of the track that is on the ground at any one time.
