I had someone bring a Nissan Versa into my shop. They had gotten a spark plug change and new gaskets put on the plastic intake. Just after they left the previous shop it was running awful. Turns out all the other shop did was remove the intake but didn't replace the gasket. They replaced the plugs but with cheap Champions. They also left a blue paper towel which got sucked into the #4 cylinder. I was able to fish it out lucky enough for me ! I put in new plugs and a new silicone gasket. Runs perfectly. When she took it back to the other shop they then told her it needed all 4 coils. She took it to me for a second opinion. After I repaired it properly with the proper parts she again took it back to them and they of course denied everything and blamed me for replacing parts that wasn't needed as they claimed they already did so ! She looked online and found many complaints about pretty much the same thing. I actually went to their shop and confronted them. BTW I just charged her for the parts, no labor or shop fees. A single mom who had difficulty paying the $360 bill she paid at their shop. She actually was able to get her money back by filing a claim with her credit card company. Now I have another good repeat customer and have done more work for her since. My first boss when I was just starting out as a mechanic 45 years ago had a saying. " Be lazy, do the job right the first time" I live by that !

Nice one Kenny. The problem I've had before is multiple faults hide each other. they do not become apparent, until each fault is fixed. No surprise it had a mis-fire, the faulty fuel pump was hiding the fact it could not fire properly. In all probability they Tech that worked on the vehicle before, did cause a lot of the faults. Why would anyone try to repair a fuel pump. The electronics in each component ensures they are not serviceable. Any competent tech understands this. The vehicle did not throw any codes because the cylinders were all down. If you think of it, any mechanical wear and tear will be factored into the engine management software. If all the cylinders are showing the same performance, it wont throw a code on higher mileage engines. Once you fixed the fuelling issue - then the software can detect something is wrong.

Don't go bsnanas on steel parts, either. I've seen too many over tightened, broken parts.Over tightening causes more problems than under tightening does. A good mwchanic shouldn't need to torque everything but if you don't have the experience and a "calibrated forearm", at least you won't break things if you use a torque wrench.

With an altered chassis and body and frame extension and possibly wires or connectors being made it's still all the stock engine and ECU programming without those changes to the system can cause weird things to happen seen it in a chassis modified work truck my job had there was always something going on with it. It's the cheap cost you more in the long run but alot of people don't get it it's already there instead having to bring it back in a few months not knowing when it will break down could be at the worst time for it to happen now you might have towing fees the downtime can cost you more than what it would have been while it was there it's not rocket science

If you ever have some weird misfires on a Ford, especially after fixing a misfire or doing engine repair/replacement, perform the Neutral Profile Correction under functional tests of the scan tool. It's their form of cam/crank relearn but makes a world of difference.

I feel like I called the spark plugs being bad on the last video lol I didnt even think about there being COP and one coil being bad, but those plugs def needed replacing antiseize and pipedope, you mostly only need to brush it into the threads, if you cant see the thread profile when brushing it around like I usually do, youve got too much. I use a lot of true blue and alum antiseize at work, and the true blue when thinly brushed into the threads makes a sort of bead on top of what its threaded into, and larger than 2" pip you brush it into both male and female threads and makes the bead on both sides. It seals really well and the saying a little goes a long way really applies

Good morning brother Kenny. I hope your leg and knee are feeling a bit better since the acupuncture. Kenny, does this particular motor have the long tubes under the valve cover leading to the plugs? The Transit may need to have new valve cover gaskets to stop the leak into the tubes and fouling the plugs and the coils. If it has that, one has to remember that not just the traditional oil leaks onto the exhaust manifolds but if it has the tube design and it likely does, then the oil can leak into the plugs and coils tubes. The valve cover gaskets get extremely hard and brittle from HEAT and would likely have to be replaced every 75,000 to 100,000 miles. I have personal experience with this. Most engines (motors for you brother) have this design since about 1996 forward. Wow Kenny, I'm old since I do remember the olden days using WD ( water dispersant) 40 spraying down the distributor. Those were the good old days. Remember viewers that when thighteng down loose bolts, " You don't have to go bananas!", my brother Kenny says so. At 34:19 I couldn't quite make out what you were saying as a result of your losing track of stuff today. If is was to pray for you, I do that every day! You are the consummate professional and could call this repair a restoration in that you are doing your best to restore the vehicle to like new. You are a good teacher and a highly qualified automotive technician. Hey Kenny, a quick question regarding the use of WD40 on the coil connectors. Would it be better or about the same to use the QD Electrical spray? Kenny, a lot of OEM restorations keep every factory tag and label. To me, I think it looks neater and more finished without all the labels. The only benefit I do find if a label is there such as on a factory vacuum hose which many are not rubber but plastic or a composite and if you need to replace it, the part number is right there. Have fun with the 'lube-a-dube' as it sounds sort of kinky! LOL Don't you find that when you are nearly finished and you are removing your tools and the old sparkolaters that you wish you had about 3 sets of hands or just some help. I use a single handle 2 sided plastic carry tray to make it easier. It is clear to me that others before you at different shops don't care whereas you do. Kenny whenever you say we're going on a road test, I get excited because it means another trip to a secret spot in Mexico!!! Keep Wrenching Kenny!, Bob
