I vote COMAND unit is crashed for some reasons. It has no active code on the whole scan

That is normal for older euro interior CAN. 1-4 and 5-1. Your good too go Jake!

Jake also noticed some water on the driver's seat @ 8:48 . I wonder if there's some water intrusion going on. Preliminary comment....haven't watched the whole diag yet 🙂

Ya I was confused when I first saw a CAN with a 1-5 volt swing but it’s normal on this year Mercedes’. The 12 volt is the wake up. Definitely made me Do some research. Turns out perfectly normal.

I Think you're B-can is a medium speed can-bus.The voltage goes from 0 to 4V on CAN-high and from 5 to 1 V on the CAN-low. And maybe a short to power incedantly???
@fredautos Жыл бұрын
Water and some grewn cruisties are my biggest suspect for the weird CAN signal.. but lets see what you found on part two jAke!

Can't wait to see part 2, great case study!!😮
@JoseSilveira-newhandleforYT Жыл бұрын
Great strategy, Jake! I would say there's a short to battery on that leg of CAN B, via some resistance, like green crusties or water. Part 2, please :-)

I think that 12v you are seeing is the HV wake-up signal it’s normal on old gm cars

Your looking at a low speed can bus or can comfort

hope the new shop is working out buddy . lot to sort out i would say . man that’s an interesting bus signal for sure something is putting out a wacky spike 😵💫
@inothome Жыл бұрын
Yeah, signal definitely no good. As far as rear hatch, probably just the hatch moving under acceleration and the switch isn't adjusted (like you can adjust them anymore, lol) / bad and senses it opened. Push out on the hatch and see if it triggers the hatch open warning... and maybe the whole problem but highly doubt it. Sure you already have it figured out by now though.

Jake, I’m assuming you’re getting your own commercial spot to work out of? If so, congrats on the growth of the business. You’ve certainly earned it!

Well me and another guy was splitting rent on a small shop that got sold so we had to move and ended up finding a bigger place and closer to most of my clients so it’s gonna be better once we get everything settled in I believe.

Pretty strangethat it's spiking that way. I thought older GM's had some networks that ran on similar voltages. Been a while since I studied that information. I probably would have went to the rear hatch just to see what happened, but I'm not as experienced with this type of diagnostic. Your process makes sense and is probably more realiable. Keeps you from chasing rabbit holes. Lord knows i'm pretty good at getting side tracked. I hope the new shop is a great upgrade for you and works out well.
@artursmihelsons415 Жыл бұрын
That CAN doesn't look normal.. As my first guess, voltage distribution box has busted CAN driver, some terminator issues or water damage.. Anyway, deeper investigation is needed after disconnecting CAN-B and testing separately.. Great video, as always! 👍

wish someone with great power could challenge the auto mfg to see just how simple they could make the new vehicles work. i saw on you tube Toyota is planning on building a like $10,000 small pickup i really hope they do it. same way Henry Ford said lets buiild a vehicle everyone can afford to drive i know i would look at it.

What is it with German cars and water? Bet you find green crusties somewhere...
@Bizija123 Жыл бұрын
I'm not understanding why you haven't even looked at or touched fuses and checked which ones are drawing, assuming you haven't done that already. Just trying to understand the diag process, not to be taken as criticism. The airmatic compressor constantly running under key on is not normal for sure. Possibly stuck open relay. Constant running will fry the motor.
@russellhltn1396 Жыл бұрын
That would give you a list of suspects - but likely some innocent modules as well. There's more than one "right way".
