Hey Christopher. Thanks so much for the kind words my friend! So the biggest problem with displaying your iPhone or iPad externally is lag between the input and the display. I use AirPlay to send my iOS device to my TV via my Apple TV, especially when I’m mixing and want to hear the audio through my home theatre speakers, but there is a delay between the screen and the TV. There is also occasional glitches in the audio, depending on how good the WiFi signal is. The other option is to use the lightning to AV cable which allows you to output from your iOS device via HDMI, which has significantly less lag. But this cable is pretty pricey. Hope this helps and thanks again for watching. Pete.

I have a Sabrent 4 port USB hub, which is powered. Anyhow, I plugged in my M-Audio Keystation 61 Mk3 into one of the USB ports, then a USB to lightning cable into my iPad. Well, the 2 LEDs on the keyboard lit up, meaning the device came on, but the iPad would not recognize it. So what I've done is: I just ordered a 9 Volt power supply from Amazon for it, except I MADE SURE THAT THE PLUG IS TIP/INSIDE POSITIVE, SLEEVE NEGATIVE. The one I have had is the reverse, no wonder it didn't work. When it comes, I can't wait to see if the keyboard will connect by USB-B to Lightning cable to the iPad and connect successfully to it for Garageband etc.

I am thinking that you should have connected the ipad to a powersource through the other connection in USB 3 camera connection kit. If you plug that port into the wall using the standard apple charger... your ipad will get charged as you are using it. I am doing that now as I type this. Otherwise the ipad won't charge. Note: When you first attach your camera connection kit has to do an automatic update before it allowed charging and connectivity at the same time.

Pete Johns not true. I used this setings last friday. Only the USB audio device (focusrite 2i2), a powered USB hub and that adaptor. The problem with fb live is that YOU get separated signals from your audio device. In fact if YOU are a guitar Singer YOU will get the mic in left and guitar in right or viceversa depending in wich channel you connect them. I solved this using my tc helicon voicelive 3 and setup my xlr output to mono and connect with my scarlett 2i2 using 2 xlr cables for both channels.

@PeteJohnsMusic6 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Glad his was helpful for you. You can use your iPad recordings with a DAW on PC, but there’s no DAW that will support the GarageBand project file. What you would need to do is export the files as audio WAV files and import them in to your PC. I use the Reaper DAW to so this with my final mixes for mastering sometimes.

The Focusrite solo is one Chanel device through this method is it likely to be that with other daw software. Don’t understand if it has 2 Imputs why you can only record one at a time.
@PeteJohnsMusic6 жыл бұрын
Really? That is strange. The Steinberg UR12 has the exact same input setup as the solo but presents as two channels. Though it does just use the stereo left/right when connected to other apps, meaning if I record using the camera app woh the mic it puts it all on the left.

@PeteJohnsMusic5 жыл бұрын
Hey Dennis. Yes, this is technically possible with shorter samples, but the problem with lyrics is that when you change the pitch of a sample, it doesn’t time stretch, so will play faster for higher pitches and lower for slower. It can be fun to experiment with though so give it a try!
@dennismichaels12055 жыл бұрын
Is it possible to program a split in GarageBand, such as piano on right side of split, and bass on left side of split, and then transferring that to a keyboard controller, and putting the split where ever desirable? If so, I assume you would have to set the volume of the controller at 0. Thank you for your time.

Question ,are you able to use a Bluetooth head phones to hear your recording while having all the audio interface plugged in?
@PeteJohnsMusic4 жыл бұрын
Nope. Audio interface will override the audio input and output so you’ll need to plug headphones in to the audio interface. Plus Bluetooth is often subject to quite high latency (delay/lag)

@PeteJohnsMusic5 жыл бұрын
Yes, there are a couple of options. You can use a simple device like the one I show in this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3bTmpecgrGIp6s Or what I recommend is something like a Strindberg UR12 or other audio interface which has high quality inputs and outputs.

Hey there. I think power will still be the issue even with iPadOS, depending what you connect. Most iPads don’t have enough power to run most audio interfaces and even some microphones.

Great video thanks. Can you connect multiple usb mics through your usb hub even if all recorded on one channel. Or could you do this through your Steinberg? Thanks
@PeteJohnsMusic6 жыл бұрын
Hey David. So, iOS will only recognise one input device, so connecting two USB microphones won’t work as only one will be recognised and put on input 1. What you would need for this is a USB mixer with two microphone inputs that you can mix and balance on the way in, which are then recorded on one track. The Steinberg UR12 only has one mic input, though I can record an instrument using the Hi-Z input on channel 2. I also have a U44 which does support up to four microphones on separate channels. I did a video showing how this works recently which I will post below.

Hey there. So, yes you can hook up a MIDI keyboard and qwerty keyboard using the powered hub. I'm not sure that a mouse would be supported though however. I haven't tried but I've heard not. I use the "Reflector" app to stream my screen to my PC, or you can use an HDMI output adapter.
