Believe it or not, the concert tour he did before this one was my first concert. Even before Rush (like, by about a month). I was working at a record store at the time and went with the manager and assistant manager. I vaguely recall seeing Peter Gabriel near his hotel and chasing him down for an autograph. But that could be one of those false memories…. So long ago!

Just a few days ago I was in London and had a day tour to Stonehenge and Bath. I asked how far we were from Solsbury Hill, and it turns out it was close by, so our guide too a detour to show me. I also had him drive by Peter's Real World Studio in Box, where I got to jump out and grab a few pics.

This brings back memories. Was never my style music back then as I was into ozzy, maiden and eventually Metallica before getting into prog stuff. But hearing this now…..just great memories of the 80’s. And got to love Tony Levin. Dude has played such a wide range of music. Goes from jumping around on stage like this to shredding with Petrucci and Portnoy!

Saw him a couple of times on that tour. Again, a bona fide genius. He doesn’t get nearly enough credit for all that he’s done for music. Can’t wait to see him again later this year.

I keep forgetting that your younger that I thought you were joking about being "pretty sure you are going to recognize this one". Sorry, I just assumed that this was a global hit but I was young (9yrs) when it came out. This song brought my attention to PG and subsequently Genesis from then on. 👍JP

Peter Gabriel is about to release his 10th studio album, “i/o”, at age 73, and embark on his first tour in over 8 years, starting in Poland in May. The recently announced North American tour will be in September and October. I am planning to go to the Dallas show.

Manu Katche is one of those uncopyable players. No one else sounds quite like him. His work with Jan Garbarek, Joni Mitchell, Robbie Robertson, Tears for Fears, and, of course, Sting, is so great. He is more of a painter with drumsticks than a drummer. Piano is actually his first instrument, which doubtless has a lot to do with his musicality.

Going to see him in concert this year. His voice still sounds good. I know he can’t hit the high notes anymore, but he usually has back up, singers to cover those notes. And he also always surrounds himself with excellent musicians.

Great video (and jacket!). Peter looks so happy singing this song. Was he that gleeful to have left Genesis? "today I don't need a replacement" (he knew they had Phil) Turned out well for all. And Peter is such a showman. Some have said 'Solsbury' was his answer to his good friend Tony Banks' Genesis song 'Mad, Man Moon' asking why he left.

In a later live, he rides a bicycle around the stage...🤨 Don't know if tomorrow's Genesis is from the same requestor or not, but now doubt there is any musical connection... just my guess😁
