Peter is a master of layering tracks. He layered over 120 layers to create all the sounds on this song. Peter and Home Free collaborated on a couple songs AMAZING GRACE and U2’s I STILL HAVEN’T FOUND WHAT I AM LOOKINK FOR (highly recommend). Also Peter and Tim have done around a dozen duets together you should check out. 2 of my favorites are GREENSLEAVES and A BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATERS. Great reaction you have a blessed day.

For a quick demonstration of the unbelievable voice of Tim and his 5 octave range, pull up the Beach Boys 'God Only Knows' cover by Tim, Peter Hollins and both of their gorgeous wives singing. It will shock you when you hear this part of Tim's range. Also don't know if you've seen Tim since he cut his hair and stopped coloring the silver streaks. I crush on Tim to a RIDICULOUS degree. There is an army of us who do. He thinks he is old but he's only 41.

Tim is known for his high notes and low subharmonics. His range is over 5 octaves. He also has a body of solo work that should be examined. You just keep on being nerdy....it makes for captivating conversation. Also, since you dig bass, The Bass Gang with Peter Barber, Bobby, Marwan, and TomiP will give you some sauce. They also have solo channels and great collaborators to check out. Oh, Jeremy, the hole is deep....deep brother Home Fry. And you're just getting started.

This song is from one of the Hobbit movies. Peter is a master of layering his voice many times to create that choir sound. He and Tim have several songs listed on Peter’s channel - Sunshine on My Shoulders, Blackbird, Greensleeves, Sound of Silence, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Fire and Rain, And So It Goes, etc. they’ve finally put together an album of their songs. All of them awesome.

Goddess, I feel like an idiot! The name of the Castellucci video is Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold. Took me this long to notice my mistake. Ugh! Anyway, you mentioned the color grading here. Maybe part of that was that the guy were in different parts of the world from each other had a hand in that. Peter also joins Home Free for a beautiful quarantine video for I Still Haven't Found What I'm Look For. So many beautiful voices. Geoff Castellucci recently released a video for I See Fire -- another Geoffx4 jaw dropper -- from The Hobbitt: Desolation of Smaug, and it's wonderful. But I much prefer Peter Hollens' version. The man is the master of layering and the amazing beauty of this song leaves me breathless every time.

This is my favorite version of this song. The contrast in voices is beautiful. Peter in the higher tenor ranges & then paired with the true natural bass voice of Tim. And that last dragon's breath note is truly remarkable & how long he sustains it. Peter is a master at layering voices. Peter & Tim have collaborated on quite a few other songs & they are all beautiful. Please check out "Sound Of Silence", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Greensleeves", "Fire & Rain", "Teach Your Children", "Sunshine On My Shoulders", "You Can Close Your Eyes", "And So It Goes", "Blackbird", "You've Got A Friend". Tim Foust has the most incredible 5+ octave range. That last note is #G1 Subharmonic which is very low. I have heard Tim go up high as A5 which is high tenor. Yes this is my favorite version of "Misty Mountains" from The Hobbit. If you want to hear "Misty Mountains" with ALL BASS singers singing this, you can react to "Misty Mountains" by The Weathermen. If you want to hear the deepest bass voice sing (yes even lower bass than Tim Foust), then react to The Bass Singers of Tik Tok sing "Hoist the Colors" sea shanty song from "Pirates of the Carribean" on The Bobby Bass KZbin Channel!

Same way, here, about that last note. You should hear him LIVE!!! Yikes! 😀 Not too surprising that you "saw" this as a movie (love that you did...I tend to see songs that way, myself). It's from "The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey." What I love about it is that Peter came up with a great way of showing men from two completely different backgrounds, claiming and going after "the same treasure." Another one by Peter and Tim that you might like to react to, is their rendition of "Greensleeves." It really shows Tim's lovely, flexibility. Just wonderful! Thank you for a wonderful reaction.

Usually "we" like for several (10 to 12 or so) vid reactions of HF by reactors before dropping a big one on ya that makes you go WTH!?! Although there are plenty of HF content without getting to the "Big One" --- But "What you know", before getting too far --- may change what you THINK you know :) !!!! "MAYDAY" it is significant. Once you do it, that opens everything up to do "Snow Globe", Tim's SOLO stuff, and/or Tim's other collabs with Peter. Be Safe

Others have said that Peter is a "master of layering" which is true but he is also very involved in music engineering so while he has an amazing voice with a ridiculous range, he approaches his arrangements from an audio engineering standpoint of how to fill the gaps and what the mix will sound like. This is why many of his songs have over 100 vocal layers. Peter also helps out newer musical content creators because he likes to give back. I highly recommend a dive into his content.

The Pacific Northwest where Peter was living when this was made (I live there as well) would have been almost as good as New Zealand as the setting for the Lord of the Rings. Forests deep, snow capped volcanic peaks, miles of nearly unbroken forests on the western side of the Cascades, dry channeled scablands lands on the eastern side suitable for Mordor. I’m not sure exactly where Peter’s background was filmed but it was definitely in an area of eroded lava flows. Breathtaking. You could say the same for the song. Peter’s arrangement does Tolkien’s own poetry justice.
