So time pause doesnt work.if you're talking about Peter before acquiring sylars ability, then yes he is powerful. Too powerful but the ability to house all abilities and replicate them is weak. If someone has the power to override it then it's gone. The Haitian for example has a temporary way of disabling those with powers. What if someone could steal powers.. like Peter's father. That is OP too because it snatches what you have rather than just copying it and housing it. Sylars power works a little different to peters as his power is to understand something then apply it to himself thereby replicating it. To learn he needs to see how they operate hence why he tends to cut the heads of his victims. He doesnt need to actually do this but this is his predatorial instincts as well as his powers basic need to examine an organisms functions thereby viewing people as nothing but leseer things. Hard to explain. But he doesnt have to kill to gain an ability. If he can come up with an answer as to how that something works, then he has gained that ability but to further understand all ways to maximise it, he needs to further examine hence the hunger to dissect like an animal. Sylars power is OP in terms of the end result. Yes Peter at that time before having his powers stolen was OP but the current one is not. Sylar before taking Peter's fathers powers was nearly or just about Peter's equal due to the similarities in their ability to use powers they've seized or replicated consecutively. Only difference is, one bares no cost and the other tugs at your sanity as well as having being unable to replicate an ability as instantaneous as Peter's ability, which can.

This is the problem with watching random scenes, don't remember this being the reveal that they're brothers. Plus, I'm pretty sure that was retconned in a later series, when Peter's Dad revealed it was a way to control Sylar.

Things that made the first season good: 1. all the characters served a purpose 2. all the characters had their own lives, motivations, morals. 3. Things were actually built up In the second season there is a sharp decline in all three, and it feels more like a bunch of random people run into each other for a little bit in ridiculous scenarios without too much change. The 'is sylar related' and 'hunger' plot was a cheap attempt at intrigue and ruined the character that was already built so well.

Two years late, but it wasn't retconned at all. Essentially, in the preset that Peter had left, Angela and Arthur were doing a joint gaslight on Sylar to get him under their control, and tried to convince him that they were his biological parents (Which in a way is plausible, considering Arthur and Peter's abilities being similar to his own). What they didn't count on is that Sylar would take a lie detection ability from someone, and then when he later met with Arthur and asked him, his ability verified it was a lie. Immediately killed Arthur with telekinesis.

The problem with the show was just that.. too many characters Sylar is fine the way he is. Complex character and powerful. But Peter just made everyone else become obsolete after season 1. Why have Matt, hiro or whoever else if he can do everything they can? In my opinion they should have done like a nomad kind of show, similar to what Amazon is going to do with Reacher (the book is the same way too). Every season, new characters but Sylar and Peter. Sylar looking for powers and Peter to save them. Much better than what they did.. they didn’t know what to do so they took peters powers then gave him the serum that made him a chump.. boring.. that even Sylar didn’t bother with him anymore

If things had been written right despite the writers strike Sylar could have been the next Dexter(albeit a little more heroic and selfless while being a complete ruthless beast) watching him progress from villain to antihero would have been indeed a thrilling story Arc to add to the show along with building up the complex relationship between Peter and Claire with the story of him being actually related to them Canon.

Peter went into hiding, acquired invisibility from Claude (his mentor in the first or second season) Sylar was only mentioned by Noah, but was confirmed to still be alive (someone who coould heal & shapeshift would be as hard to find as someone whos invisible). It was hinted that he turned over a new leaf Wish Kring would continue to expand on the Heroesverse........i dont think he realizes the fanbase surrounding this amazing series

Now I know the kid here is named Noah after Claires adoptive father. But listen here, Tommy in Heroes Reborn's real name is Nathan also after one of Claires fathers but this time her biological one. Could this be the proof that the twins father in Heroes Reborn is Sylar? Because we've seen that whilst the major disaster of the future differs. Lives & minor events seem to stay the same or very similar across timelines. Such as Nathan being dead & Parkman working for not quite a good cause & Sylar turning good. Even Peter's scar is in both S1 future & S3 future & someone going nuclear in S3 future it's Sylar in Costa Verde instead of Peter in NY & everyone believing Sylar to be dead. It's like events are destined to happen & if you stop them they are just gonna happen again later down the line. So could this future be a hint that Sylar is going to have a son and name it after one of claires fathers. E.g. Noah here or Nathan in Heroes Reborn? Now heres what we definitely know. Nathan is dead. Sylar killed him. Sylar turned good at the end of S4. Sylar's most likely trying to seek redemption for killing Nathan (such as naming his son after him?). Sylar has shape shifting ability. Sylar & Claire always seemed to have a connection. The twins father seems to be feared greatly from what Angela said about him coming for them. The only time we see the twins father is in the ice cream shop which is extremely similar to when we first saw Sylar in the diner in S1. Tommy/Nathan has a mimic or absorption ability which Sylar does have & probably continued to use once he turned good. Although Peter & Arthur also had similar abilities so it could be from Claire's side. I do truly believe that these scenes from this episode here could be the biggest clue that Sylar is the twins father in Heroes Reborn & that shall be my canon until proven otherwise.

He didn't need to kill anyone anyway because he had Peter's power of absorbing powers via empathy. But he also has his father's power of the hunger and taking powers from people's brains. Zach quinto himself once said claire is the mother. Plus, ya know, her home, her dog, naming the kid noah even though sylar/bennet have bad history. Its pretty obvious. All that being said, another “mother” could be considered, seeing as how close the 2 get in the end of the series in spite of everything. Claire did tell peter that he took everything from her. In fight or flight episode, there is a double shot of peter’s passport. It has an F on it instead of M & a lot of fans think peter maybe transgender F2M. If so, he could be the birth parent once they realize they were lied to about being brothers & once they become close friends in “the wall” episode, yalls know zach/milo did a few things on purpose to help the enemy to lovers trope along here 😂

1:45 This is something I've never understood about Sylar. Why can't he use his ability to figure out how to control “the hunger?” He understands how things work, so why not use that to figure out how to remove the hunger entirely? You could argue that the only effective way for him to do that would be to cut his own head open and examine his brain for himself, but after he took Claire's Regeneration, that wouldn't be a problem. He even states later in the show, after learning that he can take someone’s ability without killing them, that he only does it because he likes it, so it’s not like it's entirely beyond his control.

Because the hunger is the side effect of his ability, it's like an OCD, he has to figure stuff or else he gets antsy. Even in flashbacks when he was fixing watches he knows that something was missing from his life. Once he met his first victim he finally knew what it was

Because the hunger he has symbolises the impact the poor upbringing from his father had on him. In the same way that people have to struggle their whole lives to overcome a terrible upbringing, so does Sylar have to struggle to overcome his terrible upbringing. The show reflects this by having him absorb his father's brain stealing hunger power.
