I’m really, really curious about this as peanut allergies were unheard of in the 1970’s and 1980’s.

I’m grateful that even in my part of the country (deep blue state) our pediatricians always encouraged us to gradually introduce peanuts and other possible allergens as early as possible. Our second daughter had a slight reaction to peanuts at 5 months or so. So we held off for a couple months, and very slowly gave her larger amounts of peanut products in her meals. Lo and behold: no problems.

It now seems that the peanut butter no longer being sold is now saving lives of many babies and young children in 3rd world countries. At least a good outcome from the crazy overreaction to a few cases of peanut allergy.

My son born 1999 ate a sugar cookie at Publix cross contaminated with peanut butter. Almost died at 1 taken to ER. Idiot primary care doctor wanted us to bring him in and watch him eat at peanut butter sandwich! We left and found a new dr. No one I knew were keeping peanuts or nut products from their kids. Interesting fact my wife craved and ate PB&J’s all pregnancy!

Agree that something doesn’t feel right about this advice. It should hold true for everyone. No one was telling us this advice in the video, all advice was saying early exposure. 7 months, sesame introduction and anaphylactic shock and an ER visit. How can we have been earlier? I ate sesame all pregnancy as well. I think doctors know very little about what’s happening. I’d love to read more about the research but I fear time will be the only thing to tell what’s really true.

This doesn’t explain my kid, I ate peanuts during pregnancy and breastfeeding. He’s allergic to ALL nuts, severe anaphylactic reactions just from touching a nut. Also environmental allergies and asthma in general are on the rise. There’s something else going on 👀

Our children are also allergic, even though we gave peanutbutter after they started eating normal food not to mention pregnancy period and breastfeeding period. Allergy revealed itself at about 2 years of age.
