I first subscribed to your channel at about ep5 when you first found little by little and started on KZbin , and I have absolutely no issue with watching body work and sanding for episodes, because this is what building old trucks is about and it shows exactly how hard and long it takes to do all this with limited time... so just keep on doing what and how you do the your channel... cheers mate 👌👌

You may think about shooting the roof cap on the sleeper first??? There is a perfect mask line under the cap. Your going to potentially bite off more than you can chew trying to do it all at once… What you have to know is that having adequate time to lay down your clear nice and pretty is super important. if you try to do to much surface at one time you won’t have time to really slick it out good. this will lead to dry spots, runs and you will be fighting the clock as far as chasing a dry line from where you first started to where you get worked back around to the same area. the clear will flash before you can get all the way around, especially if your trying to move scaffolding and stuff. Doing the roof first will also allow you to tune your technique and practice a little on an area nobody will see. Clear has to remain wet/unflashed as your circling the vehicle. KZbin videos on wet/dry lines while applying clearcoat….. On another note Clearcoat fogs out a paint booth much more than basecoat or single stage. trying to do to large of an area at once in a relatively confined space will cause a near ‘white out’ condition and make it very difficult to see what your doing. Clearcoat dries hard as rock so you DO NOT want to be trying to sand it down to fix mistakes. Remember --small chunks at a time.

Hey man. Doing a great job Little tip for endless body work. Pick/tape off a section of the truck that needs a attention and focus on that till it's ready.then move to another section. It's easy to keep moving around alot amd miss things. I promise body work will go faster. Good luck buddy. Much love from Kyle from oklahoma,USA.

nice work Mark check the visor mounting before you finish your body work it doesn't mount to hole on roof cap both holes are in pillar and it goes snug to drip rail little window bow tie visor would look nice on there

@Louie2309Ай бұрын
From someone that does this work. Take the sleeper and bonnet off the chassis and work on it at ground level. And do it over two days. Cab one day. Bonnet sleeper second day. It’s a big job. While doing your final sand, put a guide coat down to find any low spots that might need more filling.
@1one3_RacingАй бұрын
It's a metallic paint. I'd drop the sleeper because there's a gap, but I'd do a drop coat with the hood closed so the metallics lay flat across the body lines. There's an air cleaner there so you won't see it. But I'd know it was there!
@Niteskate1Ай бұрын
It's paying attention to things like those little pits and pinholes that make all the difference.
@UnbannMeАй бұрын
At work we use evercoat rage ultra body filler. It's incredibly easy to sand but works alot better than most other filler. When ready for glaze we throw a little fiberglass resin in it and it's cheaper and works exactly like glaze
@johnmelling9950Ай бұрын
Mark, when you use that 2k clear coat, you will find its much harder to polish the orange peel out of it. I would advise you put plenty of clear on so you have enough to sand off and get a really smooth show truck finish. You will also need wool pads and rotary polsher for the cutting stage and id recommend you get some 3D ACA 510 compound as its the fastest cutting compound that ive ever come across. Follow it up with 3D ACA 520 on a soft foam pad and it will leave the paint looking dripping wet.

Mornin Mark, If everyone who comments on here was able to look at your trucks up close and in person I'm sure they would see the amount of hours that you put in, Nothing done that well is done overnight. You should NEVER stir the body filler. always fold it over. When you stir, you whip air into it and thus you get pinholes in it after you sand.

You eloquently and visually showed why I absolutely hate any form of bodywork. I am OK welding in panels and OK with sealing and painting undersides but topsides? NAH! You have my utter admiration mate and LbL is going to be a beauty. You have the determination of the people that climb Everest - one step at a time but Its not something I can do. I would rather be good at somethings (like restoring cars and building engines, gearboxes, sorting electrics etc) than produce poor bodywork. So I admit defeat on that
