Petes Land Rover Discovery 300tdi Injector Pump Tweak

Tweaking Pete's Land Rover Discovery 300tdi injector pump based on the work done prior to my own Discovery. It is a trial and error process, so take this video as a bit of fun and just some time having tweaking.
This is not an instructional/tutorial video. Please refer to your workshop manual.
Note: My videos are not a tutorial/how to. I am not a qualified mechanic so please refer to your workshop manual with your work. Do not use the content on my channel as a replacement for a workshop manual or mechanic.

hi. what sought of mileage are you getting from a tank with this done?. I get between 300 and 350 but i have 33`s on my discovery. I could do with a bit more power to get me up the long hills here in Scotland.

Hi Matt... i run 245x75x16s so smaller than 33s so cant directly compare, but given before and after experience its about the same economy. Only thing is, i do use a little more fuel as i do enjoy giving it a bit cos i can now. I can say that its been worth the tweak but watch egt!

I installed a fourby boost pin, worth every penny and no more guesswork ;-)

I heard pros and cons about them. For you its worked, but i think once you have it set then no more tweaking.

Biggest issue, which is what they sell as a positive, is that you limit your adjustments on other areas of the injector system. If the pin has a fixed profile, then adjusting the smoke screw and/or the main fuel screw is also limited. Basically you end up with limited adjustment opportunities for fine tuning. Eg, if you have over-fueling on full throttle (black smoke), you can turn the stock OE pin to limit fuel up that range whilst the fixed pin you cant.

Rover Tasmania can the starwheel not reduce the smoke to compensate? My Disco now goes crazy fast, but does smoke like a chimney lol

Starwheel changes the fuel on boost pressure, but its still based on the pin profile. This means you can reduce the black smoke but it will reduce the fuel delivery across the throttle range, ie based on the pin profile. This is how I understand it anyway. In your case I would turn the main fuel screw anti-clockwise 1/4 turn to reduce fuel and see if that reduces the smoke.

will there be a change if you only turn the pin with the big washer with a dot?

Only turn the top screw under the cap for a bit more pote, 1/4 turn at a time, check for excessive smoke. Do not touch the other stuff under the main cover unless you have an EGT setup.
