Wish we had all these old diesels in the US. Man I’d love to put that motor in my 67 JD110 RF.

Yeah you all Gas motors over there ain't ya? Here in the UK Diesels have been really popular since the 50s really. Mainly due to the fact up until about 1995 diesel was half the price of petrol. Our government left the price of diesel half until we all git diesel cars. Then they made it more expensive than petrol. Lol..

The trick i use to catch fluids in a situation like that is to take a beer can, cut it open into a flat sheet and form it into a spout. It's just thick enough to hold the shape you want but thin enough that it can easily be formed by hand.

I had not thought of that. Great idea. thanks very much. Will defo use that method at some point.

Hi Man Cave. When I left school I worked for a Landscaping company looking after the Air Bases. I was servicing a little Petter which was on a pump I think. I was kept back after work to re do the oil filter as there was a thin round O ring which sat on the back wall of the filter housing in a little groove. I was told that without it the oil runs back to the sump and the filter housing is empty on start up. I serviced one on a friends boat many years later, which funnily started life in a cement mixer. I dont think this had the O ring or the groove to seat it. I think the air filter was a wash in petrol and lightly oiled the mesh with clean engine oil. I have a Royal Enfield Motorcycle, (2014) which also needs the second O ring on the back wall of the filter housing. Thanks for posting I love these video's

aw thanks very much for the info. This is a blooming reliable engine so far. goes 1st pull every single time.

The gauze is meant to be washed in petrol oil mixture and there should also be a paper filter behind that.. The center bolt of the oil filter should be torqued to 10 ft pounds 1.38 Kgf/m. Valve clearance is 0.004 inch or 0.1mm. I have serviced and rebuilt many of the AA and AB engines over the years, used in generators. The oil should really be a straight ten weight for UK weather conditions.

aw thanks very much. I know very little about these diesels. is there a fuel filter on then by any chance? I can't see one anywhere? I would have thought being a diesel it would have had somthing.

Yes pal the filter cartridge screws into the tank outlet.
@NorfolkMancave3 жыл бұрын
@@bigal5932 is it a washable item or replacement? It must be very small as it only looks like a brass union with a drain screw on the bottom? Thanks for your advice.
@bigal59323 жыл бұрын
@@NorfolkMancave it’s a paper cartridge with a large hex metal base. Out of this comes a male thread. Remove the large winged plug at the bottom of the tank which the fuel pipe attaches to. The filter screws into this. A peek into into the tank with a torch should confirm this pal

Where do you find parts for these, i need oil filter.
@PaulHigginbothamSr2 жыл бұрын
That screen needed dropped in that thick used oil before installing and will work way better for the engine unless you lay an oil sponge on the screen.

Adam needs a touch of grease to hold stuff in position.

Yeah that oil had been in there since 85 or 86. She was due a change. That engine seems to run better since her little mini service.

I love your videos and the engines! I uploaded a video on my channel about my old Clinton engine. It’s a cast iron bore and it sound pretty good. If you could check that out I would love it❤️.
