Both guys are cute, but Jimmy Hawkins (Lowell Rightmeyer) is VERY handsome. So handsome, in fact, that he was cast as Billie Jo's love interest Orville Miggs in five different episodes. Both Hawkins and John Wilder (Arthur Gilroy) are still living and have had long and successful careers. Wilder both wrote the screen plays for and executive produced the 1978-79 James Michener mini-series "Centennial," as well as numerous other productions. Amongst his many roles over the decades, Hawkins also played son Tommy Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life." This is Hawkins in 1963 - all grown up - at about age 22.

I saw a comment posted where someone said to you that your description of "Uncle Joe" was wrong....that Joe was Kate's brother. Well YOU are totally correct...Joe is Kate's Uncle!! Not her brother and the girl's great uncle. This is why Kate calls him Uncle.... THANKS FOR THE VIDEOS!!

Kimberly#idontplay, Uncle Joe is presumably the surviving brother of either Kate's mother or father. Were Uncle Joe her late husband's uncle they would most likely have the same last name. Of course, there is the possibility that "uncle" is just an affectionate avuncular term, but I believe that Kate and Joe are actually related, at the very least by marriage.

Floyd: "Kate, Joe says you got business at the Pixley bank today?" Kate: "Yes, I'm going to try and get one of those home improvement loans as I have a plan to improve the front porch." Charlie: "I do too. keep him (Joe) off of it. That was a good one & about time he got Joe back for all the things Joe says to Charlie. And I would like to repeat myself in my other comment, the safe was a perfect place for Miranda & her babies. What is more precious & valuable than a mother cat & her kittens.

Larry, CBS went a new direction and axed all their rural-themed shows. It ended up creating television history with such show as "All in the Family," an absolute watershed in television. There literally television before "All in the Family" and everything that followed. As much as this is a cute, sentimental, (very) light comedy, "All in the Family" is miles beyond in quality and content. However, without really intending to do so CBS created another major rural-themed hit which, at least in its first seasons was also of much higher quality than the light rural comedy shows they had axed: "The Waltons."

In quite a few episodes, Floyd is always burning RR ties... Telling Charlie he only burns the loose ones when Charlie claims that one day they will be plowing up fields with the cow catcher because Floyd is always looking for & gathering loose ties. Floyd also has said that he burns them when they need a quick or hot fire... RR ties are usually treated with oil to prevent the ties from rotting... the treated oil is what makes for the black smoke when Floyd burns them. Even in this episode the robbers blocked the tracks using RR ties & Floyd said good I can use them for fire wood.

@@squint04 I guess she left the Flintstones because of taking the job on this show. I remember watching the reruns and hating it. I was not aware there were BW episodes. I don't think I ever saw one. Any show that was airing around 1966 "upgraded" during it's run. It was still more expensive but if you didn't you would get left behind and probably canceled. I do remember episodes without Bea. The title said "it is run by Joe" and June Lockhart joined the cast.

shanniworld, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz wanted to cast her as Ethel in "I Love Lucy," but she was already committed to the "George Burns and Gracie Allen Show." Her son Jack Bannon guest starred on several episodes of "Petticoat Junction" as a love interest of one or other of the girls. He later starred on "Lou Grant" as the assistant editor in the 70's. He married John Travolta's sister Ellen. He died in 2017.
