I love Naomi Scott in this! She was incredible! Her performance is one of my favorites all year, it was Oscar worthy! I felt her anxiety and I felt like I was going insane with her. She did a sensational job in her role! I wasn’t expecting to love this film as much as the first one, which I already loved. I have mixed feelings if there's a sequel because, on the one hand, the sequel could open itself up for an interesting apocalypse/contagion movie - but on the other hand, things could probably go downhill if that's the movie when they introduce lore on the demon while trying to find a cure (and too much lore can mess with the scary sense of the unknown if not careful). But it's possible it could be good - people originally didn't think of the first Smile movie needing a sequel, and we ended up getting a sequel that seems to be doing well.

Fun fact Parker Finn had gone through so many water products to implement this aspect of the story, and end up choosing Voss because he like that the glass bottles could fit into play, which was a really great play for red herring. When watching this movie I legit thought those bottles would harm her in one way or another.

My favorite scene is definitely her in the apartment with all of the dancers. It was incredibly well done by everyone on screen. Actually produced some fear in me and gave me full body chills. Naomi Scott was cooking.

The Substance is still my #1 horror movie of 2024 but Smile 2 is coming in CLOSE second for me. OMG & typically I hate jumpscares but all of them were done SO PERFECTLY in this. Especially the one with all the randoms in her apartment. After watching the first one & knowing how the possession process works my anxiety was through the roof the entire film.😭😭😭

When I saw it in theatres I didn’t put it together, but the scene where Lewis kills himself is extra scary because it’s so unnatural. A human couldn’t swing that heavy of a weight that quickly. He swings it like it weights nothing.

26:16 exactly! Where was the mother to get her off stage. The mother always seems to be around her & trying to control her every move, yet when she's being embarrassed in public, the mother dissappears

It’s because the monster was likely pretending to be the mother, the smile demon was able to convince sky’s and the audience that Gemma, morris and the mom dying was real. So it’s likely that by day 2-3 the demon had put skye in autopilot and took control of her body while trapping skye in a fabricated reality that mirrored the real one. It can be seen with the charity guy that he’s not mad at Skye when the final science plays hinting at the fact that the charity incident also didn’t occur

I love that we do not know if Morris is real or the demon messing with Skye's mind. It's possible that he is real and he could become a reoccurring protagonist who tries to stop the demon by warning the new host.

When he is talking with Skye, people are theorizing that Morris is actually right about how to stop the entity. So, the demon makes Skye hallucinate the incessant phone calls (notice that Morris never seems to look at the phone despite it interrupting his talking) and the crowd coming them so suddenly. I think neither the phone nor the crowd was real, because no one followed Skye out either. It doesn’t want her to listen to him, which is why it attacks her on the second day (on top of her already vulnerable mind). It has a host who can spread it to an entire crowd of people, so it works faster to take Skye quickly.

i was SO surprised how GOOD this was!!!! When i saw the trailers i really thought it was gonna go the way of Sinister 2, where they took a really moody slow movie and turned it into an action flick. I didn't know how they could expand on the first one, but going from childhood trauma to drug addiction was a great move. The only thing is, I don't know how they can possibly continue from HERE. Either we're looking at an apocalyptic event, or they're gonna have to do a cop-out and say "no, it can only pass to one person, it just picks one person from the audience." I'd be happy with the series just ending here, though.

Ya'll i watched this film alone in the cinema and i was petrified but nonetheless i had an absolute fun time with this one, i wasnt even a fan of this franchise and i had only watched reaction vids of the first, but when i tell you i came out a FAN after watching the second one, it was phenomenol, i had an absolutely fun time and i was genuinely scared and Naomis performance, aggggh shes a certified Scream Queen and she needs to be casted in more horror films cause she eats downnnn and this gave what it needed to give and it was definetly an improvement from the first one for sure.....love love loved this reaction guys, yall are amazing, SUCH A FUN WATCH!!! 😩🥵💯👌

Kyle, Kyle, Kyle. I know it's only the beginning and short lived, but seeing him here, he's just that rugged hot today, from his light goth pretty boy days. Maybe he has the Sean Bean deal for horror. And I nearly lost it seeing him in Strange Darling, which I HIGHLY recommend but probably can't be on YT. That's probably my second fav of the year to The Substance. I took myself to the movies... like 6 times, all horror, as a person who used to make one or two visits to the theater a special thing. Also, I am having such back problems the last two days, this movie freaked me out as a vivid dreamer, so remembering her bodily trauma was like watching dental work and getting the sympathy discomfort. People immediately trashed the small details of this film, but it was a fun horror tapping into some real fears that I think make the demon a true horror we could all see ourselves preyed on by. A demon that just preys on stress, perception and how you are perceived... we'd all be screwed. This year told the girlies that even when facing a vampire be a girls girl, trust your intuition, mom doesn't always know best and might be in a cult dressed up as religion, dad DEFINITELY doesn't always know best and DEFINITELY is in a cult dressed up as religion, porn isn't the devil but just a means for a lot of women so if you can just know it's not the end and keep your goals in mind, even when people pit you against your sister, be a girls girl, be good to yourself, no really be good to yourself, own up to your mistakes, but also be good to yourself and address your health inside and out. I think 2024 is going to need a rerun in 2025 with this messaging.
