Merry Christmas, Everybody! I love this movie. It is one of my favorite movies around the Holidays. I literally cried knowing Edward was still sculpting ice sculptures and basically providing the snow. This movie really shows you that people fear what they don't understand. Everyone liked Edward until one person takes advantage of him and lies to the whole town making him again an outcast, I have to take a moment and appreciate MOTHA Winona Ryder as a blonde is just chef's kiss she is beautiful I find it weird people questioned that beauty when she did "Heathers" ( some did not think she was "pretty enough"). Random I just noticed the here and the houses from cat in the hat look pretty similar I wonder was both filmed in the same location.

Major takeaways from this film: Johnny Depp’s first time of what would be many playing an odd character for Burton! One of Vincent Prices last roles. ‘It’s not unusual’ playing is foreshadowing MARS ATTACKS which is one of Burton’s odder movies. (And that’s sayin’ something!) AND the opening music was used for the trailer for Series of Unfortunate Events. No huge attachment to that movie it’s just I watched SpongeBob movie all the time as a boy and that trailer was at the beginning. Also you two should totally watch Sleepy Hollow I’d put it in the category of films like The Mummy of 1999 of how it goes against the source material but is one Helluva ride!

They dated for years, and had a tempestuous, passionate romance, even got engaged, but it finally fell apart.He was very devoted to her. I was a senior in high school back when this came up and holy crap were we shook by Anthony Michael Hall in this going from his earlier geek roles to this beefy jock bully! It was so bizarre! He really surprised a lot of people! 😲 Either way, Johnny Depp and Winona are AMAZING in this. And despite the melancholy, I still oddly find this film somewhat comforting and heartwarming! Glad you guys finally got to see it! ❤ (And bonus points for recognizing Vincent Price -- who often played baddies, so seeing him as a sweet old guy was almost as much of a shock for the audience as Anthony Michael Hall's transformation!)

the fact that it's a black cop that empathizes with him means everything. there's a mix of decades in this movie, but it's roughly in a mashup of the 60s-80s. meaning that the civil rights movement and jim crow would have been extremely fresh in living memory-- if not for him personally, then surely for his parents. So he would have seen or heard stories of black people treated exactly like him, moving into white neighborhoods, walking on eggshells while everyone gossipped behind his back, and then demonized as soon as anything went wrong. especially joyce preying on him, then flipping the story around and raising concern for kim, that's a story that's been repeated a million times to rile up a lynch mob. He knew Edward was a victim too, and he knew what he had to do to save him. fire off those shots, lie, and make sure he never comes back for his own good.
