I am in love with my e208 GT. Usable range is working out about 150 miles. The car tells me its doing 4.2 miles per KwH so theoretically it might do 210 miles, but I got too much range anxiety to run it down to 1%. My range anxiety is improving tho and my doctor tells me it will improve further over time.

To me the winner is the Peugeot e-208. At least it has better peformance (0-60), and liquid cooling battery pack, which is phenomenal. Moreover, the exterior and interiors design, are far from ''traditional''. Also you can charge way faster on a DC Fast Charger. Because Peugeot can take 100 kW instead of 46 kW on Zoe..... I test drove one and loved it. The range is a little disappointing as I have a Zoe ZE40 and I am getting about 140 miles in the rubbish winter weather. Summer I get 180 plus. The 208 is way better to drive though and the interior is great.

@@EngineeringNibbles Renault claim the ZE40 has accessible 41 kwh (the actual battery pack is larger in size and the extra capacity is used as a buffer to hide degradation over time). The useable battery of the e208 is 46kWh. But there is an assumption that they only calculate the autonomy displayed on 40kWh useable battery. So they keep a really large security margin.
@robsmith1a
@robsmith1a 4 жыл бұрын
@@juliengabriel9363 Thanks, interesting stuff. My ZE40 has the minimum range I can live with and if I upgrade I'd want more range and not something similar. I drive a lot a night and the ZE40 isn't great in that the lights are a bit rubbish and dashboard reflection is an issue at times (both these issues resolved in the ZE50). I do like the was the 208 drives so things to ponder.

@@robsmith1a Never tried the Zoe but the e208 is a real pleasure to drive. People say it is a lot more fun to drive than the zoé. But the Zoé has other advantages such as roomier back passenger seats and a larger trunk. For charging both are good depending on the usage... Some might prefer the 22kWh of the Zoe and other might prefer the 100kWh combo of the e208.

Yes in cold/wet conditions range is bad on all ALL electric cars including Teslas. Supposedly 350 mile Telsa gets only 200 miles at brisk highway speeds (good weather conditions), and EVEN WORSE in cold weather conditions. Checkout E for Electric channel, where host drove Tesla for few years and often got 40% less range than advertised.

@@tyraela115 How so: Norwegian Automobile Federation 2020 winter range test results are very clear. All Tesla models are amongst the worst compared to their claimed WLTP range. Up to 28% lower range in reality than claimed. Add to this rather slow charging speeds with all the Teslas unable to sustain the claimed peak charging speed. On the contrary, Hyundai is as usual the closest to its claims. On second position, the Volkswagen Golf and Volkswagen Up get an excellent 90% of their claimed range. The Audi e-Tron remains by far the fastest charging vehicle of the test with reality matching the speed claims. And with a better-than-average 15% difference between claim and reality.

From my (and many others) experience with LiIon batteries it's best practice to charge to 80% when storing. But don't forget the "parasitic" power consumption in a car. There are many little gadgets drawing electricity. Mostly 12V from the traditional lead acid battery but this will be charged from the traction battery. Two weeks won't be a problem, but for longer time I'd hook it up to a normal electricity outlet. It'll maintain it's charge this way and is ready to rock when you get it out again.

1.What cost the battery ??????? What cost the charger if it is going bad? Can it be repair it ??? I think they miss the point on the electric car questions here. Take for example Peugeot ion. The car after 8-10 years develop charger problem. Charger to change 4300 Euros because you cannot buy separately the parts to reaper it! Who would buy a car when the tire is flat and in the workshop you are told that the gearbox have to be replaced with the tire because they work together ???!!!! Everything is vin coded so you cannot buy used parts and replaced. Battery last about 15 years and cost until yet 10.000 Euros! Even if a small problem occurs with the battery you must change all the battery. So consider to give after 15 years 15.000 Euros for maintains. That’s no Green driving! This car cost more to drive than a normal gasoline car!

Does there need to be a research project before they put a roof over the charging areas? It is almost as if some body presently profiting from conventional cars and fossil fuels, does not want to encourage EV take-up? Government for example have ensured public charging prices are unlimited and instead of it being a quarter the cost per mile, I found on one trip the EV electricity cost more than fossil fuel in my Volvo 5-pot diesel V70. This is not a government that wants a move to electric. Actions not deeds. All very well announcing more ambitious plans for after you leave office, but really let’s see early steps like car selling price parity? Good vid, great car.

It would be much wiser to put a “UK” in the title. Or at least mention it somehow. In our country - there are NO governmental financial incentives whatsoever. Unless you count yearly tax, and free city-center parking (0.5-1€/hr). These are totally negligible. Here’s another kicker for people that want more info of what we are talking about here. This e-208 GT costs 36,000€, in our place the least expensive electric model (Active) is 31,622€. Got that? Okay, then we continue: same trim level, but petrol (Puretech 100 S&S EAT8) costs 17,000€. So, as a fellow European, living in an official EU member state country - I certainly don’t think it’s a good deal.

£30/100kWh would be £15 to completely fill the (50kWh) battery from empty. Official range is around 200 miles, so £15/200 miles, not £30/100 miles. You have to remember also that most EVs leave home fully charged from a domestic supply, so the first 200 miles would cost somewhere between £4 - £7. The 5 gallons of petrol to do the same 200 miles would cost about £30.

@markparker5585
@markparker5585 4 жыл бұрын
gerokatseros ah ok, if you aren’t familiar with charging an electric car I understand how it may have been a little confusing in this example. Basically, batteries don’t charge in a linear way, but on a curve. At higher states of charge, charging becomes much slower, which is why you’ll normally find 0-80% times listed, rather than 0-100%, as the last 20% can take longer than the first 80%. She is saying that the Peugeot is able to utilise rapid chargers that can supply 100kW of power, and from 0-80% (0kWh-40kWh for the e208) it will take approximately 30 minutes. You are charged by the energy supplied in kWh, the power it is supplied at (in kW) is irrelevant. So, 40kWh at 30p/kWh would have been a £12 charging fee for the 30 minute charge.
