Live streams every Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 6:00 PM EST. I hope this approach to putting helps improve your gamer ability. This is an approach I have developed over the years and after thousands of hours of gameplay in the golf club series. This technique takes time to perfect as you learn what numbers to assign to each grid line based on how fast the grid line is moving. Bro, your vids for WIND shot accuracy using math? That’s just GENIUS!!! I’m currently playing PGA 2K21 PS4/ on my PS5…… and for the life of me, the ONLY shots I was missing was anything that had wind over 2mph. With your math on HOW-TO-Math out W-Click-Movements????? You’ve REeeaaaaallyy improved my golf game. I went from shooting 18 holes with -16 to -19! But now? I’m DOMINATING every.. single…course…just because I’m using your math-to-click to calculate where I should be aiming at. I wanted to thank you for that. You’re a genius

At 12:45 example I was thinking a good method to estimate the weight to each breaking line, could be to count how many seconds a segment needs to get from uphill to downhill and divide a constant for that seconds amount. On that specific hole you assigned 25 to first line, which needed about 3 second to get from side to side, so the constant could be 75, which divided by 3 will give 25. That found constant should be used for every break line.
@lladerat

it was not 3 seconds, i was 2, because you start counting from 0.

I used the left and right "clicks" method for 2019 and it was really great. Kind of upset they took the shot aiming off of the D-Pad because that made the small adjustments for each click much much more consistent.

for the big breaks you should figure how many clicks it takes to go from one grid line to the other.. so lets say it takes 50 clicks to go from one grid side to another you have 150 so instead of counting 150 clicks you know its 3 grid lines.. it will help putting much faster... I am going to use this, but im going to implement my system so that way you dont have to count click.. so if it is 25 click and you know it takes 50 click to cover from one grid line to the other you know just go half way

Thanks for the overhead tips for zooming, ect. I saw a video where a guy had the power bar and was about to chip and he slid the white area from 70% to 100%. Do you know what you press for that? As I always seem to get only a 7 yard full option on chips when I need to go 14- 19 yards (and a 70% won't cut it). On putting, I like to not use any cheats (to get used to the look/feel of bringing it back). It would be great if you could actually read the green just by looking at it (without grid lines). I don't want a bar telling me how hard to hit it. I don't even want them picking my club for me. Make it as realistic as you can. That "Slow", "very slow" "Fast" mechanic is kind of garbage though. Yes, I know that you can turn almost all the cheats off.
@GamerAbility
@GamerAbility 3 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome! If it defaults to 70%, you should be able to move, the same stick you use to aim, up and down to change the percentage of the power bar. Yeah I do not like the power bar on either, I only keep it on for practice and training rounds. I do some rounds without the grid lines, it is fun to do sometimes. When grid lines are on, I pay attention to both the appearance of the slope and how fast the grid is moving to assign my numbers. I hope the percentage works for you. It could be that you have the pro vision settings enabled, make sure you turn that off and turn off distance control assist. This will allow you for more realistic percentage shots. Hope this helps!

Very good putting tips thanks. How do you get to put preview on the controller? Also, what is the best way to regulate follow through on putting? I always seem to swing too hard. Thanks.
@GamerAbility
@GamerAbility 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Happy to help! Once you turn putt preview on in the difficulty settings, you will hold down the A button (xbox) or x button (PS) to use it. The best way to regulate power when putting is to push forward right when your controller vibrates. The vibration cue is telling you when to push forward. Slightly after the vibration you will get a grey or red overpowered putt which will take out break and cause you ball to go way to far. Also keep in mind that tempo does not matter on putts for power. The spot in your backswing in which you choose to swing forward dictates the power of the putt. For swing plan purposes I recommend you flick the stick quickly forward once you hit your power spot, this will greatly help with swing plane. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions, I am here to help!

I have a hard time getting perfects . I have a Xbox wired controller . Would a Xbox elite controller help and also which is the most forgiving driver ?
@GamerAbility
@GamerAbility 3 жыл бұрын
I use just the default Xbox one controller wired as well. I have actually never used an Elite Series controller so I can not comment on whether it can make a difference. Getting perfect tempo just takes 10s of thousands of repetitions and even then it is still hard to get perfect each time. Stick with it and spend a lot of time at the range tuning the swing, also hit a lot of practice swings in practice rounds. Check out my videos on Practice Routine to improve tempo and also the one on Improving your short game. Those two practice routines have helped me fine tune my swing to hit more perfects. The most forgiving drivers are the TaylorMade Sim Max and the Bridgestone Golf tour B JGR. Keep in mind there are usually different versions of each driver, so there is a Bridgestone Tour B JGR Max distance driver (this is the one I use) and the Bridgestone TOUR B JGR Max Forgiveness version. The HB Studios HBS XX-V A5 is also another good forgiving Driver with also better swing plane compared to those other two. Hope this helps!

Yeah I didn’t start out that way in the first golf club game, but I have been playing the golf club series for so long since the first one came out in 2014 I have become much more consistent. One tip is to hit about 10 practice swings when you are actually practicing and watching your thumb as you swing and then see how straight you are each time. This will help your hand eye coordination, and after awhile you will not need to look at your thumb to hit the putt straight. You can use this technique on other shots as well. Hope this helps!

That was quite a formula. Thanks. I typically chunk up the breaks and for each span of similar breaks I align how that block-build to determine how many grid blocks away from the pin depending on if it's traveling west or east. Could you confirm how you come up with each denomination? Do you gauge it by its speed? (E.g. why 6 on one line, and 4 on the next line)?
@gem3008
@gem3008 2 жыл бұрын
I also discovered how drastically different the controller behaves on pro mode. It's like you have to be more precise and really more intentional when putting, much more harder to putt.
@GamerAbility
@GamerAbility 2 жыл бұрын
That is a good way to do it to, cool to see all the different ways that each gamer approaches putting in the game. So my determination of each grid line is based on how fast the line appears to be moving and also how sharp the break looks visually. There is a lot of feel involved with the way I choose numbers, and it changes on different green speeds as well. In general, the fast the grid line is moving the higher the number. Some green color grids are barely moving while other green grids move a lot quicker so a higher number must be moved. The numbering system really helps with modifying mid round as well. Such as if you keep underestimating green color grid lines, you know you need to assign a higher number to similar putts. Then the same applies for yellow, orange, and reds but with higher numbers assigned
@GamerAbility
@GamerAbility 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah as the difficulty increases it is harder to hit the distance marker and any small deviations on the swing plane lead to a push or pull on a putt which makes it tougher. Especially tough on master and legend
@gem3008
@gem3008 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I agree that I have also used some mathematical logic esp with teeing off to identify where to position the aim marker (I refer to it as the 'target compass') then getting a feel for clubbing up or down depending on the different degrees of elevation. I always use a driver off the fairway despite John's comments... LOL Using the driver gets me to the cup faster. I heard that 2K may not allow streaming directly from the Xbox. Plan to test it using Xbox console companion app via OBS but hoping the payload bandwidth will be robust enough.

So I really don’t need to putt. HOWEVER!!!!! Once in awhile I’ll miss a shot to the green or it bounces funny, or I end up with an Eagle Putt…. 26 to 40 feet away. Now I usually MAKE those putts…. You need to make sure you have the aim marker turned on in the settings, and distance information turned on in the HUD menu as well. Also, some of the pro vision settings account for distance already so it does not show up. So, I look at all the grid lines between me and the hole. I then assign a number to each one based on how fast it is and then that's how many clicks I need to move my stick in the opposite direction of the break. Hope this helps! @GamerAbility
@GamerAbility 2 жыл бұрын
So assigning the right values comes with trial and error and a lot of practice. There is so much variety in grid line speeds in each color category which makes it hard to get an exact number. But the more you play and assign numbers, you will start to learn when you under or over assign numbers and then adapt on future putts. The system is great to help adapt to each putt in a round.

My swing plane looked like a J but I took my thumb off the controller each time and made sure the ball of my thumb was on the indentation of the xbox controller. It literally will cause me to miss the cut this week!!! This is just as frustrating as golf IRL!! Not sure what I did wrong.

I hate to hear that, those are the worst. I have that hit me sometimes as well. To compensate I will actually focusing on pushing the stick up and slightly to the left. When you have this happen on a putt, make sure on the next putt you go into the practice swing and work on swing plane before the next one. This can help you get it figured out. Also, make sure you finish the entire motion and hold it there, this will help keep you from letting up to early and messing with the swing plane. Hope this helps!

@@GamerAbility Well, that is a shame that you can't move the ball around as you did in the video. Great video btw.

Oh I missed understood the first time, I see what you mean now. Yeah, unfortunately when practicing using a mouse and keyboard, the key binding to move the ball around where ever you want is E, which is the same as change clubs. So whenever you hit E, all it does is change clubs. I have not been able to find any way to change this key bind in the settings. One option would be, if you have a controller available, to just plug in a wired controller or connect a controller via Bluetooth and just use it to move the ball; this would allow you to still use mouse as input for swinging. Thank you, I am glad it was helpful!

Thank you for the kind words! Glad they have been helpful! So I actually cover some about the pitch shot in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3LKo2humNSBhtE Starting at around the 12 minute time stamp. The pitch shot is still probably my least favorite shot in the game due to it being so hard to hit partial shots. I will add a specific pitch shot only tutorial to my video list for the future.

The game gives you perfect holing speed. With the meter on its like shelling peas and far to easy. So I turned the meter off. Now I have absolutely no idea. Its incredibly difficult. Not using the vibration either. 2 putts are scarce as hens teeth.....
@GamerAbility
@GamerAbility 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it is hard without the meter. I practice so many putts and it is getting easier for me. What I have noticed is the games estimation for perfect holing speed and distance has me hitting it too hard. And I have found on average the 1.25 multiplier keeps me from burning it past the hole.
@lukejackson1933
@lukejackson1933 3 жыл бұрын
@@GamerAbility Agree. But its an excellent starting point. In extreme cases a bit of tweaking required. Severe up hill adding a bit. Any down of more than 4 inches requires even more tweaking. Its all to do with what a ball will do once it reaches crawling speed. On uphill putts it stops dead. On downhill putts it will creep and creep. If it then comes into contact with another down slope it might not stop for another 20 foot. Of course these cases are speed of green dependant. The quicker the greens the more the issues of a downhill creeper are magnified. Still I don't mind running putts 3 or 4 foot by. Its a good holing speed and you get to watch the putt go past to get an idea of the break on the come back putt.

Putting stroke in this game is not right.hit ball jumps to the right?
@GamerAbility
@GamerAbility 3 жыл бұрын
This could be a swing plane issue, meaning how straight you pull and push the swing stick forward and backward when putting. Any slight deviations in this game of the straight plane have a big affect on pushing or pulling a putt. Also, there are ghost breaks on some of the greens in the game. Meaning the game shows no grid lines moving, but there is still a break. This is likely due to the grid lines being set to move at a certain break sensitivity, and thus they do not move on slight breaks. In these cases, you can hit it dead straight on the swing plane, but the ball still breaks left or right. You will get better at reading the slope of the green to determine ghost breaks, you can try using different camera views on the greens to help as well. Hope this helps

That’s the beauty of golf and virtual golf, so many different ways to play! What works for one person may not be enjoyable for another person. My goal is to help players learn to read the greens better, not to say my system is the only way to play. Keep in mind the numbers I assign are by feel and change from round to round based on different course conditions, which is so fun to me! Keep doing what works for your game and keep having fun! That is the main thing!

Yeah, it does take long when you are learning the system. But when I am not teaching it, I can go through it very quickly. It helps me know how much I misread the putt by, so I can adapt, rather than just going by feel and not knowing why I missed it. And unfortunately with golf and virtual golf we are not able to devise a system to make every putt! Keep enjoying the game, and find the system that makes the game enjoyable to you! Hope this helps!

Gamer Ability How are you determining the numbers in the grids?
@GamerAbility
@GamerAbility 3 жыл бұрын
@@umdmustang9254 I assign a number to each grid line based on how fast the grid line is moving. The faster it is moving the higher number I assign. I rarely have to assign numbers over 25. When you are new with this, try to assign numbers that are similar to the ones I have assigned so far in both of the putting tutorials. As you assign more numbers and learn how the greens break it will become second nature! I hope this helps!

I go through it step by step for the tutorial purpose. However, in an actual round I can do this in about 10-30 seconds. Of course as virtual golfers are learning and trying to incorporate this system into there game it will take a little longer at first. That’s why I recommend practicing it on the practice green. But the good thing about virtual golf is you never have other golfers behind you lol! And in matchmaking you are limited on time anyways.
