A few things of note; 1 the heroic mechanar gems are unique, but you’ve got them all over your BiS lists. 2 you’re showing spellstrike hat is BiS for fire destro, when really the voidheart helm is BiS because the chaotic skyfire diamond is massive and won’t fit in spellstrike. 3 I like that you left world boss loot off your BiS lists because it’s going to be so incredibly difficult to pick up, it to be fair they’re still BiS. So your pants and main hand weapon could both be upgraded if you have access to world bosses. 4 because of the various missteps in gear and gems, it will completely change your BiS list if you want to reach hit cap. Other than that, great guide I enjoyed it!

Very nice video, I love how you go into such detail and show how shadow destro is definitely not the only viable specc! A few things I took notice of, however. First, when you show the bis gear for each specc, in the video you have the epic gem varieties socketed which won't come out until T6-content (or did they change that on classic tbc as well?). This makes a especially large difference for the fire destro as he has less options for hit gear due to the need of the spellfire set. Second when you compare ISB uptimes you assume a 30% crit chance for the single unsupported affliction lock who without a boomie and elemental shaman will definitely NOT have such a high crit chance...more like 20%. Also when factoring in that less ISB uptime means less damage for the shadowpriest you also have to consider that less shadowpriest damage means less mana for the healers (of couse this is only relevant if fights are long enough for healers to go oom). Maybe you can adjust the sims for those factors and see if that changes anything in the ranking? Edit: Maybe should have watched the video till the end before commenting :D Nice how you showcase the strength of the demo specc, I've been telling my friends that it's nothing to sneeze at for quite a while now^^ To that I would add that pre-popping black book isnt as beneficial as it may seem as it will put any trinket you swap in for it on a 30sec cooldown. That also counts for hidden/internal cd's as in Quags Eye for example. And lasty having the Felguard puts some extra strain on the healers as there is one more target to keep alive through some of the aoe mechanics even tho it luckily has avoidance (seriously why dont all warlock pets have that while all hunter pets do???). And having Soul Link is not only making you beefier and doing more damage but also can get your Felguard killed when there is raid damage during some encounters.

It's terribad advice. Demo is barely viable and certainly doesn't beat destro even at low gear levels. The only specs you should ever raid with are destro and affliction. Affliction purely for the utility; the damage is trash. Demo damage is also trash and it brings next to nothing for the raid.

You can remove Adornment and / Or Wand for Morose / Aran and achieve 2 set. ALSO: Most F-Locks need to keep in mind; You may not have the gold right away for a spellstrike, if not by the time the hunter / mage in your group have their T4 then you can use that as filler till you get Spellstrike; then swap to Legs till you get legs if theyre up for you before you get your spellstrike, allowing for the additional fire dmg from 2set till you get your Spellstrike. One thing not mentioned in these videos is unless you have good luck / Gold you wont have all this and it would make it a 3-4 hour video if it was going over all of what you could do to minmax while gearing up. Otherwise: Legs of oblivion + Skywitch Hat are good options while you try and fill out your hit pieces.

You could go shadow destro build and use incinerate or shadowbolt accordingly if you have a shadow priest or a fire mage in your raid group, could you not? With prio on shadowbolt if you're the only lock, since the shadow priest would do more damage, which means more mana for the group? It's not like conf and the 5% mana cost talent are really that useful. Most of the mages I've seen are playing frost for some reason.

Hey Alive, I was interested on your take for something. This is in regards to whether you have an ele sham in your group or not. What I'm doing is enchanting Handwraps of Flowing Thought with +15 spell hit and with some gems that have hit so that it alone gives +36 spell hit, I'll use these when I don't have an ele sham in my group. Otherwise, I'll swap to Soul Eater's Handwraps when I do have an Ele Sham in my group. What are your thoughts on quick fix gear options like this one?

I think sm/ds 2.0 40-21-0 would be good for NON raid content. It would be good for solo questing and if there is ever a tbc version to the mara princess/goblin/rotgrip kiting farm in vanilla. Sure ur single target dmg is gonan be shit with no destro talents but u can drain tank when u solo quest with void sac. Or u can do massive seed of corruption dmg in dungeons of the pulls r big enough with 5/5 shadow mastery and 15 shadow dmg from succubus sac plus ur agonys and corruptions will do more tick dmg.

Leveling thru outlands solo right now on pvp server. In a sea of Soy-link demo locks I feel great about being Affliction and have no desire to be anything else - no matter what the min-max stats are. I do great in openworld pvp and just enjoying the game slow play.

Depends on how much you value the scryers bloodgem for early hit, you'll replace it in the first raid tier but the shoulder enchant lasts until the end of TBC, that being said you can take scryers for early gearing and then swap to Aldor after you get your phase 1 bis.

I decimate everything on the charts warlock or otherwise as a demo now. 7 pts in affl, improved corruption, and 2 pts in improved lifetap. Everything else is in demo take for 10 pts in destro for the shadowbolt spam and cast time reduction. But yeah nah, I'm doing 70-40% more dps than affliction locks, and 10-30% more than destro. Destroy overtake me in trash with 5+ mobs but then single target I'm again, over 30% ahead. It's a joke. Demo is laughably ahead of anything else. Fun to play too and a dream to solo quest with.

BIS for destro yes but not really buying it makes a huge difference. Metagem on T4 gives you 7 more crit rating over hood, but hood also has extra gem slot for at a minimum 13-15 extra spell power increase over slotted T4 helm. 7 crit rating is like 0.33% crit chance on damage of 2000 is 6-7. So net of that hood still has 7-8 more spell power. 3% crit damage from gem increase translates to roughly 12 damage equivalent expected on 20% crit chance base. So at this point T4 has 6 damage expected increase. Then comes the extra intellect on the helm which is +25 int out of 80 is roughly 0.33% crit chance, 6-7 more damage. So we are talking 12-13 expected damage increase for T4 with metagem. Not a difference maker even on a fight like Patchwork where you shoot 60-70 bolts is 1200-1400 damage difference entire fight. But now consider the potential damage reduction from losing the spellfire set bonus. If it procs once you'll get in 3 shadowbolts for expected damage increase of 120 a pop, that's 360. Proc chance of 5% means expected damage increase of 13 per shadow bolt. The math is probably complicated or needs to be simulated to get the exact numbers but if you fire off 60-70 shadowbolts you're getting 780-910 damage out of it, pretty close to the 1200-1400 put of T4+meta

Immolate is only used because its a dps increase and the other options in the talents are 5%mana and self heals/defensives. So its the only option we have for more damage. But even then, its only ~10% of our total damage throughout a raid. You still want to focus on as much shadow damage as possible. Eventually we will hard cast corruption with set bonus, and even further drop immolate all together once different tier bonuses come.

I play demo and it's def on top. Especially 25 man's when you have to run around and click stuff or just moving in general the felguard is beating the piss out of boss all that time. I tried fire destro and shadow but in the end with the lack of hit in the beginning you tend to miss a lot which is a huge DPS loss as destro. Playing demo you got the pet going at it, immolate rolling, corruption, whichever curse, then spamming shad bolts. I didn't like destro in p1 not just cause the hit cap but also not having a ton of crit gear without spellstrike. Demo is the sleeper. I been topping gruul, mag, and kara as demo and t5 gear screams demo as the 2 set bonus heals your pet for 15 percent of your damage. I also put 2 points into pet resil to Give pet 10 percent less damage taken and take 1 out of threat and range since your pet threat and your threat are just less in general you don't need 2 points. 1 of 5 in corruption for global reduction, and just 1 in the pet mana return when you life tap. 1 for shadow Burn to use while moving. Works great.

Not sure what gems you're using for Veiled in fire BIS, but the noble topaz are 4 hit 5 sp, whereas your BIS list shows 5 hit 6 sp. I suspect it's the unique gems that drop.

You got me thinking with that Felgaurd / destro spec. What would you think of 0/40/21? You have succubus out plus soul link and get ruin.

Whilst the increase in damage from saccing the succubus and ruin may make up for the 20% damage loss of not having the Felguard, you lose 10% damage from master demonologist and soul link and any additional spell power from demonic knowledge. Not to mention the loss in survivability. Building the spec that way is basically throwing away 8 talent points for 5%crit. I believe just running a straight shadow destro spec would be more beneficial.

Cataclysm in fire destro is kind of trolling... Cataclysm is practically useless and going ISB let's you swap to shadow destro in any fight where fire is not an option

Do you mean Pyroclasm? Because Fire lock doesnt take that for their spec...Go look up Meta goblin / Fireywind's FL Specs...You just need a mage I did trash on most fights but maiden i was able to strait turret with lust and beat our guilds SLock parse with lust due to how hard hitting Flock is.

Yeah, Cata isn't great, but it's not useless: Rank 11 Shadow Bolt is 420 mana and cataclysm brings that down to 399 mana, which is 21 mana saved. 399 divided by 21 is 19 shadow bolts. That means every 19 shadow bolts, you have saved enough mana for another shadow bolt.
