I've read that saying "scared", "spooky", "afraid", etc. will trigger hunt mode or more likey to get u killed, I think it's much worse than just calling out the ghost's name a few times some people say u can light the candles already placed in certain areas so u have backup light in case the breaker dies(although apparently the ghost can blow them off if they're near?) do lights affect ur sanity? if u are in a lit room/using flashlight/etc. does that mean ur sanity drops slower?

I've gotten pretty fed up with some of the obscurity of certain game mechanics and decided to decompile the game and figure out how they work myself. To sum up the crucifix: - Only works in preventing a hunt from starting in a 3-meter radius (5 for banshees) - The hunt can still start if the ghost starts a hunt from outside this radius - The ghost is most likely to start a hunt near/in the favorite room. The best results I've found is to keep them in the favorite room. - Crucifixes only stop two hunts per crucifix, after that they'll disappear. - To get the crucifix objective it depends purely upon stopping a hunt that otherwise would've started. For most ghosts, your sanity has to be below 50% player average for a hunt to be able to start (this can vary due to ghost characteristics, Demons for example can start hunts regardless). - Crucifixes do not affect ghost activity whatsoever, they are purely for preventing hunts. - Crucifixes do jack shit during a hunt, if a hunt starts, shove that brown cross up your ass, it's worthless.

i have readed the github doc but seems there could be some mistakes in it that might confuse new players. for example it says " Being within 3m of a Jinn instantly increases your insanity by 25% " under the sanity tab but i think i should be Yurei instead as jin is the ghost that plays with the electricity like lights and such also under the interaction tab under door section it says " Doors always lock during hunting phase, and will remain locked for a random amount of time between 10 and 20 seconds" but this should be " only the exit doors " as all in building doors will still be interactable and this could confuse beginners when they have to hide.

Not a bad video so far. Dev himself, on the official discord, confirmed that fingerprints will ONLY show up on doors, light-switches, and windows. So no phones. Anyone who claims to see a phone print is lying. EDIT: Book needs to be in the room that the ghost is in at the time. Cameras should be set up in the room as well as just outside it, as ghost orbs will be either in the room itself, plus just outside the room. Ghosts cannot disable player placed cameras. Spirit box will only function on the room the ghost is in at the time. AT THE TIME--note this. same as the book. As you said, lights must be off. Saying ghost name must be in the ROOM THE GHOST IS IN AT THE TIME--big thing you skipped here. Otherwise, there is no effect. Confirmed by dev on official discord. As of right now, as long as there are fingerprints on the door, regardless of being shown by UV or not, you can snap a pic and get pictures of prints. So if you know a print is on a door in solo, snap a pic of the door--fingerprints will show up in photo journal even without a blacklight. Crucifixes are not an enigma. According to the dev, if they are deployed within 3 meters of crucifix they will stop a hunt. Must be placed within that 3 meter radius of where ghost starts a hunt. Easy, not an enigma at all, except for all of the misinformation floating around. In hunt mode, except for a revenant, you can actually outrun EVERY ghost in the game. Best thing you can do is run, break line of sight, then hide in another room. You CAN outrun a Djinn too as it is only faster IF--and IF is important here, you are farther away. You can still outrun one. Hope this helps you with another guide :)

Also, even though you shouldn't say them. Racial epithets and slurs can make them IMMEDIATELY aggressive and even seek to hunt the person OUTSIDE the building provided there is enough lawn or space between the property before you get to the truck.

Personally, if a ghost is hunting, I either look for a closet, turn off my flashlight, and stay quiet or if there aren’t any closets, tuck into a corner, turn off the flashlight, and stay quite. I only run if I’m a few feet away from the exit

Based on what I've heard, Wraiths can see through doors so hiding in a hallway closet is NOT safe if you're suspecting your ghost is a Wraith. Also your flashlight might give your position away if it's on during a hunt as well as "running."

Wraiths ignore WALLS and Doors for the sake of FoV, in other words, it WILL spot players anywhere but on another floor (debatable, but seems to be because it still needs a floor to step every now and then, and since Wraiths aren't like Banshees who lock onto ONE specific player and he WILL know said player position, Wraiths follow normal ghost search mechanics

Drop Torch infront of the Room/locker you're gonna hide at, the lights can sometime glitchy and went through walls. So you don't have to risk your position away by checking the torch flickering in your hand when its hunting. Just look at the light from your torch outside.

Heres a major tip that is ALWAYS looked over. Have 4 people, cameras set up to cover most if not all of the location. Have motion sensors and sound in areas that either ghost room or outside of room, even hallways. Have 3 people inside and one in van keeping an eye on EVERYTHING. Thats what me and my friends been doing. No one has died in a hunt due to them being constantly tracked via surveillance. Also the person in the van should bring most if not all of the equipment.

I would always turn of the lights of when a hunt begins, and for my team/friends we have a player out in the truck that says warning lvl10, which mean a hunt has begun and says when it's over

When hiding from the ghost turn your flashlight off the ghost can detect the light its safer to have someone in the van over the radio tell you when the hunt is over but you can also turn your flashlight on for a short period of time to check if the hunt is still going PS: the radios will cut off but you will just haft to wait for the radios to come back online to get the ok

A few corrections: Wraiths can and will leave footprints, so seeing them does not rule out Wraiths. The thermometer is not a sure fire way to find the ghosts favourite room as sometimes the ghost will not lower the temperature of the room at all. Still unconfirmed weather this is intentional or not, but as of now, is it possible for the ghost to not lower the temperature at all, even if freezing temps is one of its traits. The ghost writing book also behaves like the thermometer. Sometimes a ghost with this trait will not write in the book at all, which can throw you off identifying it. The spirit box also behaves this way too. Sometimes the ghost will simply not respond to you, throwing you off identifying it. The crucifix works as follows: Holding it does nothing, so deploy it on the ground as soon as possible. Once deployed is generates a 6 meter diameter "bubble" around it, which will cancel a hunt if the ghost attempts it while it's within this radius. If the hunt has started, the crucifix will not help you at all and you should hide in another room. Fun fact about Sanity: The ghost reacts to the average sanity of the entire team. Not just those who are currently in the house. So all you van bitches are safe to stay in the van for as long as you want, as you are keeping your teams average sanity level up.

to include two things: it doesnt matter what your sanity is past 40%, the ghost hunt target is based on distance/sight rather than lowest sanity in party & you don't need to take a photo of a dead body to confirm insurance. the game is already programmed to determine insurance post-game based on difficulty. the photo is strictly for money post-game.

Not the worst guide, but there's a lot of common misconceptions in it. Such as during a hunt you can scream or flail your flashlight wherever you want and it doesn't matter, ghosts only hunt by line of sight. Sauce: Lvl 224 with ~4 deaths

I had always wondered about the player-placed cameras. I would leave a few in a room, triple check to make sure they are on, and sometimes I still cannot see through the camera from the truck. As if it's off. I'm seeing different input regarding if ghosts can disable them, or if it's a bug.

Considering most of the other tools require being in the proper room to work properly, and the thermometer is almost the only tool that can consistently find the room in my experience, that seems a little unfair. It's hard enough to find the right room on large maps as it is, so doing it with limited uses seems pretty mean. Either make the room only have a small area that reads colder, so players have to spend longer scanning each room, or make it that it only works when you're standing still.

If it is true that the developers are doing tweaks to the game without posting the updates, I think the thermometer may have been one. In the past week alone I've seen temperatures become a lot less detectable, so that multiple sweeps may be necessary before the ghost will start to effect the temps around it. I cannot confirm this for sure, but it has been my experience that temperatures aren't as easy any longer. An alternative consideration is that the game recognizes the individual player's level and somehow factors that into the matrix for revealing clues. Raising the difficulty based on increments of the group's average level in addition to the mission's stated difficulty rating. This is wild speculation and completely unsupported, but I would find it interesting if it was incorporated somehow.

Your best bet is to get as many closed doors between you and the ghost. Breaking line of sight seems effective at getting away from it. Ghosts can't open doors but some can go through walls, so the more distance you can make the better. If you have a long path like the halls in highschool you can (generally) outrun it.

always find a room to go in and close the door. TURN OFF FLASHLIGHTS AND DONT SPEAK!!! It will either hear you or your flashlight will give it away. Only use the flashlight when seeing if the hunt is still in progress. Yes, they can open the doors, and if you aren't quick enough they can chase you even when you hide. One time it was on my tail and I got into the closet and even though I made it inside it killed me as soon as my friends closed the door. So in all, hide, don't speak, and turn off the flashlight. :)

The crucifix has never worked for me. Every time I throw it down the hunting does not stop. I’ve also thrown it in a room I know for sure the ghost is haunting and it doesn’t trap it or stop an attack.

i have used the crucifix a _lot_ and well, it needs to be basically exactly where the ghost spawns to work. 9 times outta 10 its placed wrong. only works in smaller rooms and make sure to have 2 for a bigger area. even then, the ghost sometimes spawns outside of the room, so it still does not stop it, even when covering the room. also when it works, it does nothing to show it worked. it just dissapears after the second use. so chances are youve made it work before, just havent noticed it.

Crucifixes. My understanding and experience is that they can stop the ghost from starting a hunt twice and will disappear once they have done so. Because of this I like to keep an eye on them if trying to provoke the ghost into showing its self to get a photo of it. More often the crucifixes have expired before I could get the ghost to appear, and I don't push my luck any further.

From my experiences, the crucifixes will work for the 3 meters around it basically like a snare trap to prevent hunts, have 2 uses...and if you piss off a demon and try to get it to be prevented there's a chance it'll delete your crucifixes before it does anything Don't piss off demons unless it's necessary basically all I'm gonna say.

Crucifixes will only be removed if the ghost attempts to hunt. Demons do not have special ability to randomly remove crucifixes without hunting. Objects do sometimes clip through objects or the floor. There are no exceptions.

Demons are also the MOST hunt happy ghosts by default with other types only beating it under VERY SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES (Mares if the power box shuts and leaves darkness, Yureis once sanity average gets bellow the threshold it likes, Onis if the WHOLE part keeps bumping at it and pissing them (calling name, calling slurs...), Phantoms if you use a Ouija board and sanity is already at a low level, Wraiths if they step on salt...). One clear indicator of Demons is exactly that, any soon the setup time ends, if a hunt starts VERY soon regardless if sanity average is high enough

Wrong, this kind of misinfo gets people killed. First of all, it has a 3 meter radius. SECONDLY, it has 2 uses. Thirdly, it doesn't trap the ghost anywhere. If it spawns to hunt in the radius, hunt is stopped.

Got this game for me and 2 friends. We all had vr headsets so we thought it would be fun. These are the story’s about how we slowly destroyed are rooms because of this game. Let’s start small I was walking down a hallway just chilling but I start hearing something like talking and I turn the corner and see my friend setting up a camera but it scared me so much my hand flew back and hit me hard in the jaw. Yeah that was the least worst thing to happen. Moving on to a moderate thing we had just set up everything and I was chilling in the truck and watching the cam we set up but I take a second to take a drink of water and during that my friend screamed and I heard a smash turns out he saw the ghost and smashed his controller into the wall it still works but his wall will never recover from the injury. Little side note I could have warned him because the ghost walked past the cam to him so he died because of me. And lastly the worst thing to happen my friend was going back to the book to see if the ghost has written anything and according to him it was just standing there watching him but then it disappeared. So he goes to check the book but the ghost appears again kills him but it scared him so much he full fell backwards onto his tv and destroyed it. So yeah this game is fun but be careful it’s fucking terrifying.

Amateur difficulty gives 50% of the value of items you lost by dying (they're only considered lost if you die and had put them in the inventory, using consumables doesn't remove them for future searches it seems) Intermediate gives 25% back Professional doesn't give ANY value back from death

It doesn't even like bloody Mary, and allegedly motherfucker is the most effective word in order to piss it off. It can and will hear you with or without push to talk. It kills you through walls and doors. Like if you hug one from the outside the ghost will spot you and kill you through the wall/door. Happened once, my body was lying dead on the porch. Also experienced being killed through walls within the house. So I always tend to hide in the corner of a room where neither of the two walls share two rooms. As for racial slurs and shit, I never tried. For obvious reasons, but I can imagine it triggers it as well as if not more when swearing at it or calling it names.

sometimes you might have to say the ghosts name to get a picture of it or make it do some shit so sometimes u should say the ghosts name if u are stuck with no evidence
