I'm not going to debate the flat earth versus globe, geocentric versus heliocentric universe, or any of the other ideas about Bible interpretation of those things, but I do know this. What you believe about the earth is not a salvation issue. There are many things that a person can be wrong about and still be saved. If we have to have a perfect knowledge about everything the Bible says to be saved, none of us would be saved. What he is saying is you have to believe his interpretation of the Scriptures in order to be saved.

Didn’t realize believing in a “stationary earth” was the gospel 🙄

It's not so much the boneheaded things they say as it is the arrogance in what they say. I'm a Baptist, but there's a flock of these guys that would never be asked to preach where I'm at.

Where does he think what he's saying is in scripture? How does he explain the cycles of different seasons and night and day?

I agree- if we all had a perfect understanding of everything in Scripture when we got saved there would not be such a thing as sanctification. We should all be willing to hear a matter before we answer it, but we must remember too that Paul rebuked several congregations for their spiritual immaturity. These were saved people who lacked knowledge, insight, and understanding. Their salvation hinged on none of these.

Whilst I believe the earth is stationary and definitely not a spinning globe earth hurling through space aimlessly (as we’ve been taught by science/nasa) I disagree about the salvation issue. You can be saved and believe the earth is a ‘planet’ or it’s a spinning ball or it’s flat. It’s not a salvation issue.

It seems like many Baptists would say this is crazy, but then would feel the same way about if you deny young earth creationalism after reading Genesis. I think all of that is ridiculous. Personally I dont have a fully settled mind about any of these things, but it is clear that they are not part of the gospel.
@angelt.52767 ай бұрын
With all due respect, the two are nowhere near the same issue. True science confirms a young earth, and the historicity of Genesis is foundational for the gospel. To deny the existence of a literal Adam or to insert millions of years into Genesis 1 is to destroy the foundation of the gospel, because this would allow death and suffering to be in the world before sin.
