This was a cutoff from a piece of Black Cherry I turned a few months ago. • Black Cherry-Decisions... Originally thought to be a burl, it's actually where a branch was either cut off or broke off and then healed over. Lots of bark and character in this one!

I had to laugh at your high tech Dust collector sarcasm. And for the record, no one thinks your a loser if you mess up a few projects. it's how you learn and how we learn. Mr Anderson, I don't know why anybody would complain about your videos and the amount of content you produce. I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. You really kind of remind me of my grandfather who used to work in his wood shop all the time. He has since passed away. But watching your channel kinda takes me back. I love this piece. I love how unique it is. It's unlike anything I've yet seen you create. And personally, I think the coffee grounds were a perfect fit. That patch matches the bark perfectly. The coffee grounds were an excellent idea. Keep doing what you're doing the way you do it. You have an amazing skill. And I don't think anyone should be able to dictate how you should run your channel.

There can be a lot of satisfaction in the wood rescue business!. That would make a great bowl for guitar picks. When I started wood turning I installed a 2 stage dust collector, 4 inch piping, dust ports etc. Unfortunately my workshop is also the garage and the collection system had to go to make room for the ever increasing array of tools. Instead, I now have three 20' box fans with filters on the front. They do an amazing job of cleaning the most dangerous small floating particles.

And to find out, I have owned a high-tech dust collector for most of my life. I started out with a piece of cardboard and my hand. No wonder your shop is cool in the winter, you have little wood to burn, everything becomes a collector's piece. Very well done, Phil.

Haha, yeah, I had the same piece of cardboard, Ray, I got it when you were finished with it! LOL! Thank you so much, my friend!

Hey Phil. The white stuff on the bark is lichen. Most of the tree was covered in it when I cut it. Harmless and adds a bit of character. I have the entire tree, except for those pieces I’ve turned and the piece I sent to you. A real delight to turn. Thank you for the education and the entertainment...my Thursday “Phil Fix”...

An interesting project; the bark looks terrific. I've heard of the use of coffee grounds for a filler but this is the first time I've seen it used. I'll remember that tip. The color looks very natural.

If I were you, Phil, I would have used wood shavings, but you are a master of your craft/art! I would probably have binned it, or filled the cavity with coloured resin.
