If PH is veering closer once more to the US, blame China for its territorial greed and blind hegemonistic ambition. US is no saint as a superpower and has a ton of skeletons in its closet to hide across its rise as a world power. But China is an unknown and unpredictable power which has no qualms going against international legal norms to pursue its national and selfish interest. US has still a semblance of respect for international law. PH is in a tight bind. Given its precarious position, it is left with no option but to embrace the US, a traditional ally with shared history, democratic and Christian principles, and some degree of cultural traits.

It's not that we in the Philippines did not realize CCPs threat, we did not really find support from the US when China took over contested islands due to its commercial interest in China, Duterte switch sides partly because of lack of trust in US support and he was personally threatened on his human rights issues in his war on drugs. Regarding that last question about the territorial dispute between Taiwan and the Philippines, you'll never find any Filipino who will argue that Taiwan should just drop its claims except when an international court ruling has been settled. Whatever the dispute is, it should be settled peacefully, not by force like China is doing. That said, it benefits the Philippines for Taiwan to maintain its claim especially if Taiwan is to argue that they're the legitimate government of China rather than the CCP. That means that the CCP would have to be treated as an occupying force and should not have any legitimate claim on any of the territories. Taiwan could simply set the issue aside for as long as the CCP exists. Or Taiwan could reject the unification, declare itself as an independent, sovereign nation, and drop its claims to the rest of the territory if they want to avoid the complication. Maybe bargain the islands off to the Philippines in exchange for recognition as a sovereign nation, but that's definitely gonna put us here in the Philippines on a tight spot lol.

The PH can serve as a launching ground for US military hence China wont be able to completeky encircle Taiwan. The PH is the nearest land mass for Taiwan refugees if war breaks out. The invading force ( Western allies, Phil., Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Korea, etc. ) combined have to be at least 3 times stronger than its current force in order to be on par in fighting CHINA in a sea battle. Andrea Yang is right if war broke up between China and Taiwan, the Philippines will be involved. If China attack any of the US bases or territories, Philippine is obligated to come to US side due to the Mutual Defense Treaty which states "an attack to one is an attack to the other". For now the Philippines and Taiwan should have a low defense cooperation for their both self interest, because if Taiwan fall, then China can increase their intimidation to the Philippines and other ASEAN countries.

Here in the Philippines, one of the most trending issue now is not about "Taiwan and China". The most trending issue now here is about the "Afghan Refugees". Weeks ago, Majority of the Filipinos are so into Uncle Sam's party. But as of now, the burried anger and distrust of the Filipino people towards the America is coming back again or shall I say growing. 😅 If you understand Tagalog, try to see the comments in different YT channels or other social medias regarding "Afghanistan Refugees". Especially that even today, many Filipinos have still phobia of the recent "Marawi Siege" that was caused by some International Terrorists. Many people here thinks that the US is disrespecting the Sovereignity of the country by forcing the Philippines to accept the (50 thousand US Afghan Refugees). Most of the people are so against to it because some media says that those 50 thousands afghans are not normal refugees, they are former US employees, spies etc, they also said that there is no assurance of how many of them will surely be granted a special US visa by the United States (so there's a big possibility that most of them will be staying here in the Philippines permanently. The people are not against in Humanitarian for refugees, even before the Philippines have or always accepting refugees from other countries like the "Vietnamese/Jews/White Russians etc., but this time the people are reluctant because of the"National Threats Issue". In EDCA, majority of the Filipinos are still in favor of that, but there are still some groups that antagonizing it, and they are using the "Afghan Refugee" issue now so that Filipinos trust to US will deteriorate and they are saying that EDCA is only in America's Interest. I'm Just neutral though. I'm not against the America nor worship them. In just recent days, China sent tons of Fertilizer and other gifts to Philippines. Brought by a Chinese training ship thru a good will visit in Manila. "They said China and Philippines are friends forever, not even the ** can't destroy it." If it's for peace then I think it's not a bad thing though, who doesn't want peace? 😅 I wish peace for Taiwan as well. Marcos Jr should accept those Afghan refugees. They need help and the Philippines must help. There are 12M Filipinos living abroad. The Philippines have a long-running communist insurgency, muslim secessionists and Isis radicals. Nevertheless, Filipinos were accepted by other countries. Imagine if other countries bar the entry of Filipinos because we have a communist insurgency, a violent secessionist movement, and fanatical muslim extremists. Nearly 4M Filipinos live in the US. Almost all of them are economic migrants. Many are TNTS. They benefit from the USA and the Philippines hugely benefits from them as well. The Philippines is one of the biggest recipients of developmental aid and frequent disaster assistance. Filipinos have a moral obligation to help other nationalities who have fallen into bad times and are in need of help. Also, the Philippines spend millions of dollars and so much effort to invite foreigners to come and visit the Country. While the Afghans cannot be categorized as tourists, when they come, it will hugely benefit the country. The Americans will spend to build them accomodations and facilities, they will eat, buy necessities and spend on recreational activities. That means more businesses, more jobs for Filipinos, and more taxes for the Government. When the program eventually ends, the accomodations and facilities they used can be given to homeless Filipinos. On the other hand, the taxes the government earns can be use for housing projects, social amelioration programs, and so on. Giving help to those afghans will most likely improve the image of the Philippines and may even lead to Filipinos being more positively and kindly treated abroad. The afghans, who number just some 50k, should be helped by the Philippines. It doesn't matter if there are other countries where they can be processed more conveniently.

When the Philippines was hit by a devastating typhoon(Haiyan), international aid poured into the Philippines right after the typhoon passed by. And the help kept coming for years. When the ISIS ravaged Marawi, international help came to defeat the ISIS and rebuild Marawi. And talking of the secessionist conflict in Mindanao, help came to end the conflict and money poured in to develop the island. When Typhoon Odette struck and devastated central Philippines, help came from so many countries. The Philippines is one of the countries that receive large development aid. The Philippines cannot just keep on receiving without giving. And like what I said, there are 12M Filipinos abroad. They were allowed entry by their host countries despite the fact that the Philippines has a long-running communist insurgency problem, violent secessionist groups, and ISIS extremist. Imagine if Filipinos are barred from entering other countries because there were violent groups existing in the Philippines. It is not about the Philippines following what the US wants. Helping the afghans is a moral obligation of the Philippines. When another natural disaster hits the Philippines, why would other countries think that the Philippines deserves to be helped when it refuses help to others who are in need? Other countries can decide to just watch and say its not their problem. It doesn't matter if they were employees of the US government or if there are other countries-even the US-that can accomodate them.

Does Philippines, Japan and Taiwan read history? If they don’t they are wrong and if they do they are also wrong cos Taiwan is under China Rule since 1945. Because the UN and International laws are US laws to contain China so that US can militarise the SCS. This got China angry so they claimed the nine dash line. However these countries must be able to come up with a Treaty excluding US because it is a foreign country not part of Asia. It have No business here. If the US is out of the picture and do have any military presence here, the nine dash line can be negotiated for sure!
