I removed the foam. It was a ralatively easy process. I can't wait months or even a year for a replacement. There is an Aussie guy who has a video on youtube showing how to do it. He uses a dremnel tool but it can also be done with a drill using a large bit. It worked perfectly and the machine is still quiet.

After 2 years with my Phillips Dream Station I got the news of the recall which began my nightmare. Phillips is light on news and solutions. Do I risk cancer or the health effects of sleep apnea? Yesterday I fortunate to locate and purchased a ResMed 10 CPAP machine, every dealer was out of all CPAP machines & if available required a prescription which is another story. So thousands of people have to spend 3 to $800.00 and someday may end up with two machines. Phillips should offer the fix or pay the folks that were FORCED to take action or risk cancer

I registered my Dreamstation machine for recall on-line via Philips website on 06-17-2021. Today (08-27-2021), I received a box containing a brand new Dreamstation 2 from Philips. I have not received any recall notice as of July 17. My machine was made in 2020 and I have already checked on the Phillips website and it says that my machine is included in this recall. This is so frustrating. I’m pregnant and my doctor told me to stop using it. It’s a risk to the baby to have sleep apnea. I’m also diabetic and getting poor sleep affects my blood sugar too. No one I’ve talked to know what’s going on. I’ve been told it’s going to take months to get a replacement. I called the number and they said they put me on the list to get one soon. But there seems to be no plan. I obviously don’t have months to wait.

FYI: You can purchase a replacement tray from Amazon that does NOT have any foam in it. It works perfectly well. You have to remove the old one and re-install the new one. It comes with detailed instructions. Obviously, it takes some careful handling and closely following the directions. There are ribbon wires inside the unit that are delicate and should not be heavily handled, but it is not that hard to do. It took me about 25 minutes. Tools are provided. I now am using the unit and it works perfectly. It is NOT louder than before. The output is a little stronger but can be adjusted easily. I strongly recommend you get this part: It is called: "Plastic Box Without Filter (Plastic Part), Empty Plastic Part Without Foam Filter, Plastic Box for First Generation Dream Station." It has absolutely NO foam of any kind in it and it appears that the "foam" is totally unnecessary. If you want to filter your output on the tubing, you can add a filter to it easily enough. My understanding is that the NEW units still have a kind of foam in it, but it is a different kind. I see no reason for it. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)

It is not fair to blame docs or resp therapists. There is nothing they can do. They can not be expected to furnish replacement machines for their patients. I do have a problem with this Sleeplay guy though. He is being way too soft on Philips. I would really avoid doing business with them in the future. Anyways I was using a Philips CPAP machine only after 14 months of use I started having chest pain went to the ER more than once and was diagnosed with bronchitis and some other sickness I was given antibiotics and steroids yet this did not fix my Health issues. Eventually I went to my primary doctor told him about my symptoms and I was referred to a lung doctor, oncologist doctor and a cardiologist. Long story short at 38 years old I had to have first a heart stent a few months later I continued having chest pain and using the CPAP machine/every time I use the machine my lungs would hurt I would have dizzy spells during the day and headaches almost all day and night long. In addition to that I also have a small growth on my lungs I don’t know the doctors lingo but I believe I have a enlarged lymph note as well as something is wrong with my white blood cells not sure if it’s too much or not enough sorry. I have been fighting to try to receive my Social Security benefits/disability I have been unable to work since my heart issues well shall I say two or three months prior to my heart stent being placed I had my open heart surgery of May 2019 I have never been the same I have two small children boys that I cannot even play with or pick up I am on lots of medication including for depression this CPAP machine ruined my life. Is there anyone that can help me with information? My question below: I have already went to the Philips website and registered my machine also I received a letter from Philips about the recall I did not send my machine back honestly don’t even remember if they asked for it back? I did not want them to say I did not have it or pull some shady stuff on me. So my main question is what do I have to do to join the class action lawsuit I tried looking it up not sure but am I already included in the class action lawsuit? Or is there something I have to do? Please I beg of you can someone please help me? Honestly I am computer illiterate.

Did u ever find a lawyer ? On a funny note. I have the machine that’s been recalled. And I have a nodule on my lung. My machine had black stuff inside the tubing. When I woke up and saw it I thought it was mold and I was puzzled how that happen so I switch the tube. The next morning the tube and mask had the same stuff. I was so confused. Later I wasn’t feeling good and I went to my appt to see my foot dr. When he came n he was very worried about me. He was going to call for a EMS but I said no please don’t I can’t leave my car here. He said do I have family that lives close and I said yes so they got ahold of my sister and she took me to ER and a friend of hers drove my car to her house. The hospital kept me and found out I had infection and my blood cells was fighting each other. Later as year went by I have a hard time breathing and I assume it was caused of me being fat. I’m 5ft and I was 155 but I do exercise and I try to be active it’s just hard when I breath so hard now and it’s not cause of my weight because I went down to 145 and I still breath hard. Oct 2023 I had a CTscan done on my lungs and they found a nodule now I have to be checked every 3month. If u find a lawyer let him/her read this. I want to add when I found out about the recall they told me to send it back and sent me a yellow envelope that I could not fit it w/o breaking it. Please get back w me if u can. Thank you for reading Kelly

SystemOne ASV4 is the same as Remstar pro C flex system one. In my country ( India) the company agreed to take the machine, service it ,( remove the foam) and return it. But this will take time. No spare machine in this period.

@@ajaykanbur63 I checked on their site and it said my serial number was not affected. So I guess I'll be using this one again until they replace my Dreamstation.

@@100dikembe A suggestion would be to call the number on the registration page and confirm. From our understanding all dreamstations are part of the recall.

From the communication that Respironics are calling the ozone and UV cleaners unapproved methods of cleaning. Not sure if they do accelerate the process but even without one of the cleaners all the machines are in the recall.

Ive waited almost 2 months for Phillips to do something about their crappy product. Apparently they take good care of customers who put out KZbin videos. You are not a patient. You are a customer and the dont care.

I believe there is a misunderstanding here, I am a patient and am also waiting for a replacement machine, I registered my device in the beginning of the recall registration period, there has been no special treatment. I do understand when you say your a customer and they don't care because everyone is still waiting on their new device.
