My late father was born in Holdenville OK. His name was Eunis Jake Deere. He was 3/4 Creek and 1/4 Seminole. He was fluent in Muskogee language. I plan to learn more about our ancestors, hopefully visit his birthplace and learn all that I can.

I was aquainted with with Phillip Deere in the 1970s and early 1980s. He was the real deal. He stood up for right and what he knew and believed.

He would come to Okfuskee Ceremonial Grounds and sing the Feather Dance back in the 80's. Have him on cassette tape leading the Double Header Dance.

It is difficult for me to listen to him, because it is like perverbial nails on a chalk board to hear him say "prove what kind of Indian are you." I know what he is tryng to say , but the brainwash of identifying as Indian, when I'm not bugs me to the hilt. All of us who identify as or the culture of Indigenous peoples should not have tp cancel out who we are ...whether or not you're mixed bloods of Indigenous tribes of the Americas, tge islands, Europe, Asia, Africa, whatever. Be grateful for who you are, first as a person made in the image abd likeness of God Creator of all things. In this is good medicine.

💔liberty💔 The cold wind of November blue and a day I remember when waiting for December the tears are surrendered to a love lost gone WAs the last day I cried why I asked for love denied my body instantly grew cold I could have lost but I continued on searching I walked a mile on bent chasing after fainting scents of a love lost spent these eyes that fuel my soul will connected to a heart I could never hold but I cried and tried and cried never ever think I wasted my time her beauty once I did hold carelessly caressing kissing touching But Then There came a time this time I cried knowing Never Be Mine liberty and justice for all (jrb)inc April 19 1995💔

I never spoke Indian. That's not even a language. Although part of my heritage Alibamu(Alabama), I learned Mvskoke since most people speak this but only knew a few words in Alibamu.
