"In the race to midnight, it is well after 11."
( For more First Nation wisdom, go to the First Nations area on N2K Need to Know where we will be posting many more discussions: www.n2k.world/home-topic/firs... )
This discussion was conducted in 2005 for The 11th Hour by Leila Conners.
The discussion covers Trudell's worldview that encompasses his call for
humans to return to their intelligence and their humanity to forge a pathway forward. His responses to the questions now seem prophetic.
John Trudell was a Native American author, poet, actor, musician,
and political activist. He was the spokesperson for the
United Indians of All Tribes' takeover of Alcatraz beginning in 1969,
broadcasting as Radio Free Alcatraz. During most of the 1970s, he
served as the chairman of the American Indian Movement, based in
Minneapolis, Minnesota.
After his pregnant wife, three children and mother-in-law were killed in
1979 in a suspicious fire at the home of his parents-in-law on the
Shoshone-Paiute Tribes Duck Valley Indian Reservation in Nevada,
Trudell turned to writing, music and film as a second career. He acted
in films in the 1990s. The documentary Trudell (2005) was made
about him and his life as an activist and artist.

"THE TRICK IS THEY GOT US TO DEVALUE OURSELVES."
@boroniamoore
@boroniamoore 3 жыл бұрын
The trick is to go against everything the evil empire is all about, not all indigenous cultures devalue themselves, in fact quite the opposite, some have managed to survive in spite of it (extremely hard as it is) nevertheless still have & so Never devalue ourselves, we need to value our own identity, nurture it & thrive inspite of the evil. The Western system is very evil yes we know, it was prophesied to fall & it is falling regardless of everything, indigenous cultures will remain in the end & that’s a beautiful thing. Never get sucked in to the manipulative vortex of this evil system, there’s nothing in it but destruction & death, the Indigenous way of life is about life & thriving in our world, in our universe, which we all will. Western rubbish is out, it can’t sustain itself anywhere, it’s parasitic in nature, there’s no life energy there. It sucks off of every living entity such as our planet, our universe, our indigenous peoples & other peoples for its survival, eventually it will kill itself anyway and that’s a good thing to know it will die. Every other culture will survive all this evil in the end & thrive again xxx it’s already written in the stars

I met John in Telluride in about 1997. He came to give a talk at an event for first nations teachings from many traditions. I met him smoking a joint by the duck pond along the river trail. I didn't know who he was at the time. when we finished the smoke he asked how to find the Opera House because he had to be there in about an hour. I said something like "oh! you going for the teaching prestation then! Me too!" "Yeah" was all he said.... I flipped out when he walked onstage and when he spoke it blew my mind...

I live on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation, my moms from the Fort Mcdermitt Indian Reservation.. My family fought for treaties out here in Nevada in the early 70’s.. then AIM came & did the Longest Walk.. All in all, I will always stick up for John. I am a sanctioned member of AIM today & we are fighting the Thacker Pass Lithium Mine in our ancestral homelands! The work continues today with respect for our Uncles and families who’ve been putting in work for decades. AIM FOREVER, FOREVER AIM✊🏽

I met this very wise and caring man when I was in an occupation of federal land in MN. He deeply inspired me with his innate leadership and quiet strength. He is indeed the finest human being I've ever been lucky enough to encounter. and e has been a most eloquent teacher for all of humanity, not just us Indians. I belong to the American Indian Movement, not the Native American Movement. I am proud to be an Indian. Everyone born in this country is a native American but not everyone is lucky enough to be an Indian.

This is one of my favorite videos of John, he was most definitely on the spot, he spoke his mind and yes you may have heard him on stage reciting, but in this instance it was just all him live and direct and he handled it beautifully. It shouldn't hurt, just learn from it. I guess thats what he means in his words about us feeling vicitmized and powerless, we are powerful as a nation of people for starters, the point is getting there. And it is crazy to see how everything happened and he knew all along just as some of us knew deep down within ourselves that sone shit was going to happen to civilization. Even bill Bill Gates predicted microbes being the next adversity. We just need to use own intelligence. I get what he's saying and for right now we do feel powerless because most of us are to caught up with our lives and bills and work. But history did show that everytime we have leaders step in they are always assassinated. Only way to fix a system is to be in it. So educate your children and have them go further then we did in our lives.

What honesty! What truth! I belive everything that you said comes from the great spirit. I was 6 years old once. Surprisingly enough at that age I decided to figure out what Human was up to. The adult's were always arguing about nothing. The news on TV always promises more on the story later but later never gets here. At that age I decided I was going to figure out what they were up to. After 52 years of trying I gave up! Then it happened. I had a epiphany. All of a sudden I was getting answers to questions I never knew existed. "How in the Universe could this happen? I think now I belive understand. Im Scottish, not Indigenous. I have never been through the spiritual training of the Indigenous Americans, but some how at that time I stopped thinking with my human brain, and my spirit took over. Our spirits are directly connected to the Universe. Thats why when we miss speak it questions us as to how we could say such a thing. When we begin using our spirit to reason with that is the point where we become intelligent. Most Europeans never experience this. What Im saying is this. If you really want to understand this existance correctly . Then you need to ask the Indigenous people for training. We all need to learn what the Indigenous peoples have known forever.

"Erases the memory from the human being about being a human being." He's right on...talking about what some of us are just now waking up to. We are so much more powerful than we believe...that's exactly what "they" don't want us to wake up to! It's time to become sovereign with regards to our intuition, our beliefs, our intelligence, our observations, and our God given common sense. It's time to stop being small and insignificant, giving our power away so others feel better and bigger. It's time to wake up to the fact that we do have a voice, there is truth in your words and it needs to be spoken and heard. OMG he knows absolutely what's going on. Please step up to what you know is for the good of all peoples. Our playing small no longer serves any purpose. Hold the light so others will see. Be the light that brings peace, unconditional love, and most of all...compassion in action. Thank you John...I thank you.

Do you still believe like John did that we live on a globe, if so you need to look at it with this intuition and common sense you talk of, the globe is a lie, hard to believe hey, check it out for yourself using a critically thinking mind

@@andrewcalvert2801 Thankyou for this comment. I don't know this guy, I've never heard of him before, but I will now look him up. I am fully aware of what he is speaking about, yet I've come to realize "They" use people to tell us what they know we already know by now. And want it told "Their way" the globe is ONE example. Truth... to draw one in, a few lies in between. Imho. Also all the knowledge we all have learned, when we try to spread the truth, some or most look at us like we are crazy! And THEY KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN. And I think they truly laugh at us for it. But let them idc. Also not only to make us look NUTS but to Devide & Conquer! from our loved ones and people we share Truth with.

You are what the whites would call, a saint, but to call you that, almost feels likes an insult. You think like a true human. With a true realization of good and bad. I wish I got to know you. I'm lucky I know people who knew you. I know you're in a good place.

Everything That i Trudell said is happening everday a on this planet. People have lost their ability to be Human beings. There's no love it's just all about self. His words were so prophetic it makes me wanna examine. The change has to start with me because i know that I've been programmed. Thank you Trudell for speaking the Truth Sleep well.

we are born human and taught what to think not how to think... remember who we were meant to be... The Government says they are looking, but we don't see it. they say they are listening ,but they don't hear what we are saying. we are the invisable in this land of our ancestors. the laws seem to work only against us not for us. we are the lost in our own land...

Thank you for sharing this. The elders are so important in finding direction. It's not a matter of politics, it's not a matter of whether or not when you agree or disagree, it's just a matter of listening and understanding how their wisdom relates to where we are that we can find direction. Thank you again, so much, for sharing this. I am preparing to start vlogging regularly on my channel and I intend on bringing native voices out of the obscure corner that we have been pushed into: not just Native American voices, but the voices of our ancient Native European elders, my momma's side, whose wisdom still resonates True to this day, and is pushed into obscurity. We get caught up so much in history, and forget the wisdom of our elders; all too often focusing on criticizing them for their imperfections rather than honoring the best part of themselves which they work so hard to pass on to us, their prosperity. Recently this criticism has been hyped up regarding the foundations of the United States, but I look and listen oh, and I see a beautiful collaboration of modern Western natural law philosophy and Native American natural law philosophy, which brought this country into being and has misunderstood because the core, the center, has been ignored. Like the various native peoples of the respective continents, the truth about the founding of this country has been pushed Into Obscurity where is the spirit is concerned. Because of this we have ignored the the Divine natural law and continue to be sucked into the okie doke as the Elite continue to hijack everything we set out to do. I have watched good ideas get hijacked through politicization time and time again throughout my 57 years. Our lives are not about ourselves our lives are about our relationship with existence. All My Relations
