I loved a man like miss Kay loved Phil. We had a three year old son when he became a drug addict. In the end, I gave him a ultimatum as Miss Kay did, we never saw him again. That was 15 years ago. Everyone's prayers aren't always answered. This family is so very blessed.

God did answer your prayers, it just wasn't what you thought you wanted. He gave you what you NEEDED. He always knows what's best for us. [A woman who also prayed that prayer who realized He did the best for me & took him away, which left me with only Him!!] All glory to God!

Don’t give up on the hope that he will one day have opened eyes for what Jesus did for him. You never know, maybe God’s plan is to bring him back one day to present apologies to you and your family. To admit what he did wrong and how he left and it wasn’t okay. God can still answer that prayer in an additional way later on. Maybe your ex wouldn’t have been able to change and stay around and maybe it was better for you and your family if he wasn’t around. But keep that hope that God is still working on your ex and that you will one day witness the changes in him, even if you aren’t ever together again.

Oh, Kay, when you said that the boys would ask Phil if he'd be there when they woke up, my heart wrenched. I remember hearing that exact question out of our then 4 year old son, as he tried to go to sleep, fearing his Daddy would be gone again by morning. I thank Jesus again and again and again for making salvation possible for anyone who calls on His Name. Thank You, Lord, for saving me and my husband. Thank You that the old Chad died, was buried, and now has a beautiful new life in You!❤️Holy Spirit, please draw the rest of my family to true faith in Jesus, before it's too late. Do whatever it takes to open they're eyes and ears to the Truth. In the Name of Jesus I pray. Amen

Mr. Phil, I do not want you to feel bothered by ppl seeing the path you were on. I can relate. I was a blackout drunk for 20 yrs. I woke up on morning in early 2012 and just did not drink. My story from that moment forward is a wild and amazing ride. I am now, at 52, able to say how greatful I am for all the good, bad and ugly. The abuse I endured from others and abuse I did to myself and the abuse I allowed in my life. I am greatful because it has made me who I am today. Be grateful for the bad times. Be greatful for that path. You and your family are who they are right now because of it. ❤

I'm glad Miss Kay and the kids had him when they needed someone to help them when they were going through all the hard times. Like Uncle Si said, God was there the whole time. I'm glad Miss Kay fought for her marriage and didn't give up. She's such a good Christian woman and she was strong too. It takes a tough person to hang on until things get better and praise the Lord that it did get better. They've been a blessing to us also. I can't wait to see the movie. God bless you all.

My mother had to make the same choice. Sadly my father did not decide to give his life to the Lord until years later. He remarried and raised three stepkids. He is an amazing dad for them and a good husband for my stepmom - what he couldn't be for my mom and his kids. Sitting in the theater brought up a good bit of that pain. The actor playing Phil resembles my dad, and seeing those moments were hard. Seeing him doing everything to get back his family, knowing my dad just wasn't there yet for us, brings us those old wounds. I prayed in the theater, for my dad, for myself to give up that pain and shame which unknowingly was still locked in my heart. I thank God that my dad finally did give his life to our Lord, and hope to see him in Heaven one day. You are strong to fight for your marriage. Sometimes walking away is the right choice. There is true pain, yet God is good and is there with us every step of the way.

I was married to a violent alcoholic for 8-1/2 years. They don’t call alcohol ‘spirits’ for nothing. He was a great husband, father, was an engineer for the railroad, was VERY intelligent, but could not quit. I did not/do not drink, and hate it. He said he started in the Army. I believe it. He was the type that would go for a loaf of bread and call you from Dallas 5-1/2 hours away later that night. I finally had enough one day and told him he had hit me for the last time. I had our young 7 year old son to think of, as well. His lawyer told him on the last DWI, he’d be doing prison time if he got another. He said he’d kill himself before he went there. All he had to do was quit, but after his 7th or 8th, shortly after separating, he got another one and took his life. It was so sad because there were many continuous prayers all throughout the years going up from myself, my mother, and my grandmother, but the devil won. Praise God my son is nothing like that. He saw the example of his father and to never be anything like that because alcohol destroys lives. Not just the alcoholic, but everyone’s. My son is grown, lives in Nashville, and is an amazing keyboard player, and producer. He never had lessons, God anointed him with the talent. He puts all his money into his home and recording studio. Praise God he saw what alcohol does to a person, because the music business is a tough one with many tempting addictions around. Praise God Phil accepted the Holy Spirit. There is nothing more powerful to change the heart and soul. 🙌
